This DLC allows you to customize a personal ruler when starting a game instead of using one of the historic characters. You can change your attributes, coat of arms, appearance, and traits to whatever you want but the better you make your character the older you will be when you start the game. This character is just as susceptible to death as any other but a stronger and better educated character will have a higher chance to pass on those positive traits to his children. It does not allow you to cheat to make an overpowered character, which can be unfortunate if that is just something you wanted to do for fun. At $5 it does feel pricey for something that just allows you to change stats around and to scroll through facial features.

Crusader Kings II is a game all about running your own kingdom. However, the current game doesn't allow you the freedom of choosing what your character looks like. I found that being able to create my own ruler definitely added to the overall experience of the game. Since I purchased this DLC, I haven't played a single game without using it. It's definitely worth getting and totally adds to game in a positive way.

The Ruler Designer for Crusader Kings II is DLC done right. It's addition to the game is not vital to a playthrough and possibly won't appeal to everyone: playing as a real character from history is part of the vanilla game's fun. However, there is a lot to be said for constructing your own dynasty, and shaping the personality of its founder while not being given free reign: good or useful traits bump up your character's age substantially, but bad or detrimental traits lower it somewhat. It's all about finding the balance. (for added fun, make your character insane and possessed. You may not live long, but some of the related events are quite amusing)

Crusader Kings 2 to me has always been about building and maintaining a dynasty throughout the ages, and I often find myself completely attached to these characters. So this DLC is a must for me, and this is because of how it actually makes me want to come back to the game and try new countries and empires, just to see how my character will survive his environment. If you are not playing this game for historical accuracy then this is a must buy DLC!

The joys I've had with the DLC creating my own characters such as ones from my own family has been wonderful. It adds so much experience to the game with features such as choosing your own Dynasty Shield and your own traits. If you get adventurous like me you can start as a Muslim in Ireland, or create Suleiman to try and kick start the Ottoman Empire a little bit early. If you can get it for cheap I highly recommend getting this DLC!

I was hesitant in buying this one, as I liked the idea of building on history. Boy, was I wrong. Creating your own ruler is a great way to add to the experience, and after all, it is awesome to thread your own bloodline through history. After buying this, I've hardly played a game without it.

This dlc is the best for the game by far as it just gives you so much more freedom (well in who you play as anyway). Because of this dlc you can now create your own payable adventurer and family. This is all very fun however because of the poor graphics it can seem pointless and at the same time make the game seem less historic as it means that you don't play as a historic character if you play as your own but the historic characters will still be in the game which can make it even better as that way you can go and visit a monarch whilst playing as yourself, AMAZING!!! Overall it can make the game more fun and somewhat personal but if you're wanting to keep the game accurate to history then I don't recommend this to you.
