A simply amazing game. Although at the time of writing this review, the game may perhaps be a tad bit dated, I still have great fun playing it. The gameplay is simple and straightforward, so you can focus all your efforts on zombie-slayin' or making sure the survivors become extinct. Though campaigns can easily be run through in a day or two, the strength in this game is the replayability and multiplayer. You can also find unofficial downloadable mods which give your more maps, skin designs and weapon designs and more! The plethora of game modes are sure to keep you occupied. Simple unadulterated action!

This is the best zombie game ever in my opinion. It mixes fun co-op game play with stellar zombie slaying fun. This is the sequel to Left For Dead which is one of my favorite games of all time and this sequel builds on everything the Left For Dead 1 did well and adds some new features and better game play and graphics. In this game you have a choice of tons of weapons including a wide range of firearms but also a good range of melee weapons like a baseball bat and anything else you can find around the beautifully detailed maps that Left For Dead 2 is based on. If you enjoy zombie co-op games this is a must buy!

This game is absolutely great for playing with your mates, be that at a party or even online. The co op is just really fun and rewarding. The new melee combat in this game is interesting and adds a new way to play.

Being a huge fan of zombie games, I decided to try out the Left 4 Dead games. I was not disappointed, in my honest opinion, these are the best zombies games I have ever played. The game contains 4 characters that you can choose to play as, Nick, Ellis, Rochelle and Coach. Unlike the survivors from the first game, the 4 protagonists have just met at the start of the game while trying to board a helicopter to escape the zombie hordes. However the chopper takes off without them leaving them stranded in a zombie filled building. There are a huge variety of levels in the game, from a mall to a swamp. There are more weapons that are available to the player, even melee weapons such as a katana and a frying pan. On Steam, it is supported by the Steam workshop, allowing players to easily add mods to their game to increase the fun factor. From the Benny Hill theme for the Tank, to changing the Jockey to Diddy Kong, the mods are a great addition to an amazing game. If you haven't got this game, get it as soon as possible. The only criticism I have with the game is the bot AI, but that is sorted by playing the game with 3 friends. Buy it now.

Being a huge fan of zombies and a huge fan of the original Left 4 Dead, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this baby. The amount of different types of game can be staggering (single player, offline CO-OP, campaign, scavenge and survival) but there's enough in there so that if you don't like all of it, you'll still find enough to do to keep the interest. The characters in the original L4D were all well and good, and I've heard some people moan about how they didn't like the way these new characters; Nick, Rochelle, Ellis and Coach, didn't seem to get on. This isn't exactly true - the more you play the game, the more new dialogue you're presented with showing the characters' relationships to one another. Nick has issues with Ellis, who occasionally takes a shot back at Nick, but Ellis gets on great with Coach, who treats Rochelle like a little sister, who is almost flirtatious with Nick. They're really interesting, funny characters with much better voice acting than the first, and I personally can't get enough of them. The campaigns in the game are linked by a lightweight story of the four trying to get from A to B to be rescued. Do not hold any misconceptions about L4D2 - there's not meant to be a backstory. The goings on and character build up are cleverly presented to you in the world around you; all you have to do is simply look. Read the graffiti. Listen to the characters, it's all there. It's a zombie apocalypse, what more do you need? Gameplay is fun though if you don't have a Gold LIVE account (for XBox users) don't even bother buying it because you'll need one to access 80% of the game, including the new downloadable campaign called "The Passing", which is due out in Spring of this year (and is meant to cross the new and old survivors which should be interesting). I think the only problem I've had is the people online that I've come across. There are some real idiots on the versus/scavenge games who take things far, far too seriously. In this case, I would find friends to play with, or go on a forum where you can meet decent people before you add them. Even if you haven't played the first, it's a fun, intense, gory, silly game that will make you laugh, jump, freak out and have a great time. Especially if you find a frying pan.
Good sequel to an excellent gamebritishlad | May 11, 2013 | See all britishlad's reviews »
I loved the original game and they game is just as good as the first even though the four main characters are a little bit irritating and not as likeable as the characters from the first game. Here's a list of goods and bads: Goods Plenty of guns and all of them are satisfying to use melee weapons such as machete, baseball bat, frying pan etc and are all satisfying to use more variety - more kinds of zombies to kill in more imaginative ways Plenty of campaigns (the campaigns from the first game have been ported to the second for free!) There's lots of vs modes and online is still quite active Bads Some new levels are set during the day and the make the graphics look a little bit ugly and dated Playing with bots is extremely frustating because they are too stupid and useless Average soundtrack As I said new characters are annoying A very good game and definitely worth the cheap price
