Reviews for Dead Island

Fun but flawed

Dead Island rode into the gaming scene on one hell of a hype train with its brilliant debut trailer, and at launch this turned out to be a bad thing for the game. While it's a good game overall, Dead Island struggles in some of its most needed aspects. If you can get over the cliche of a zombie apocalypse and the incredibly un-likeable cast of playable characters, you can have a lot of fun with this free roam action/RPG. The large amount of glitches make it frustrating at times and in my experience, multiplayer has been the worst effected. This game has been patched a lot, though, and many of the reviews for the game when it had just came out refer to things which have now been fixed. There isn't really anything else like Dead Island on the market. It takes loads of uninspired concepts and puts them into an open world. If you're looking for a game which involes a lot of multiplayer first-person zombie killing in an open world, then Dead Island is definitely the game for you, but if you're sick of zombies and cliches, it's probably best to sit this one out or wait for a price drop.
