Sol Exodus is a relatively little-known space sim, and can be picked up a good price. It's a really solid game, controls are tight, and the ship fights can be awesome. The ships respond well to your controls and the fighting passages are among the best on the market The rest of the game isn't fantastic, you won't be buying this for the story, and the voice acting is horribly cheesy (those tough guy accents really annoy me..) but as far as a space fighting sim goes, it's easily worth a buy.
A real space combat sim!jediwoman | Dec. 20, 2012 | See all jediwoman's reviews »
I was wary when I bought this game. So often space simulations end up being strategy games that prevent the gamer from having direct control over combat or the piloting. While there are plenty of people who love turn based combat, I am not one of them. Nor do I enjoy drawing little boxes around ships and clicking some a spot on the map to indicate where I want the ship to go. If you are a fan of the Wing Commander series there is a good bet you will enjoy this game. Be prepared to spend most of your time in combat. There is a story but it isn't central to the game. I hope the developers intend to release expansions as Sol has tons of potential.

SOL Exodus is such an easy game to get into, for both veterans and newbies of the genre. The story will suck you in and keep a good hold on you for many hours, and the combat is really just icing on the cake. For such a low price, there's really no reason to not go for it. Graphically, for what is a slightly older space flight title in appearance, the game manages to hold its own against newcomers, and in many ways looks better thanks to a slightly different graphical style. Ships are well-detailed, and dogfights are always a great sight. Sound-wise, all the essential parts of the story are voice-acted, which is one mean feat for a relatively small development house - the acting is top-notch, too. Controls are well-placed, and can be changed should the user so desire - I found tightening up the ship movement keys to be necessary, but other than that, everything is still set to default. Being able to hack into other ships and redirect their actions, or cancel them completely, was something I very much found to be a highlight of the campaign. Protecting and rescuing friendlies was quite a staple of the story, and I actually found myself enjoying those missions more than I did the pure dogfighting ones. Definitely one to grab for all those space game junkies out there, and still quite an enjoyable title for those not usually into zooming around the outer reaches of the universe.

SOL: Exodus is manufactured by Seamless Entertainment, an action game where the plot set in the distant future. Scientists are discovering that barely colonized the solar system will be destroyed. War breaks out between those who want to find a way to survive and proclaiming an end to mankind. Players have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the star fighter and do battle with the opposing faction ships.

Sol Exodus is an inexpensive space sim, that brings back the gameplay and style of games like Wing Commander and Star Wars: X-Wing Fighter. The game is a straight-on flight simulator with the familiar controls you would expect from one. One of the innovations it brings to the dogfighting genre is that you can level up a handful of different skills. The game is set in space, where you battle hordes and hordes of enemy ships, but you also have a meaningful objective, which really makes SOL: exodus different from the usual space-sims. Here comes one of its bad sides. The game is not fun as you would remember other games of this type to be. The story is cliché and usual; and no matter how good the controls are, the fighting and aesthetics are just boring. But the game is only 15$! This is a tight space-sim; I personally enjoyed it quite a bit. Every fan of this genre should definitely buy it!
