Ridge Racer Unbounded it an better than average racing game. The gameplay is fast and fun. You can trigger chaotic events and shortcuts. The game has a track creator which can be pretty fun as well. Multiplayer with this game can be fun and hectic as well. Graphically wise it is also very nice looking. This feels more like Burnout than a traditional Ridge Racer, that can be a good or bad thing depending on who you are. One more notable thing is that this game requires Steam to play and does have steam achievements. I would recommend picking it up if you are looking for a fun arcade racer. Do not expect realism or even real cars.

No it is not like other Ridge Racer games. It is also made by Bugbear, creators of the Flatout series. I understand that Ridge Racer needed to go in a new direction eventually and I feel they got most of it right. The game is fast, furious, dangerous and down right crazy sometimes, and it does maintain quite a few ridge racer like mechanics, but its not like other games in the series. I personally love the direction they took with it. Its not a bad looking game, has tons of good lighting, shadows, and it a lot more gritty, less glamour. However, cars seem a little floaty and the amount of crashing you end up doing in the game can get frustrating. I did pay full price for this game, and I still loved it, but if you see it for 25 bucks or less it is totally worth the price of admission. Game is long, fleshed out and if you arent a huge Ridge Racer fan who feels it should be more of the same, you will actually have fun with it!

I didn't like Ridge Racer Unbounded. First I'd like to say that I wasn't big fan of Ridge Racer brand so partially that was my fault because I expected to be more like Flatout serial (because of Bugbear). It runs smoothly, it has lots of content, but it feels somehow outdated at least for the PC. I hated that console menus and obvious lack of config options. Lighting effects can be annoying sometimes but generally they look cool. What about driving? It is ok - arcade like, when you get grip you can easily maneuver your vehicle. However I didn't like drifting, it's kind of unrealistic but as I have found out later it's main feature/characteristic of RR games in the past. What I expected to be better are car physics and car destruction, FO UC is much better in both and I thought that creators of that game can do only better, but I was wrong. So if you like to play Flatout stick to it, don't waste your time on RR, it's quite different game (as it should be).

Ridge Racer: Unbounded (silly title) seems like Namco's attempt to compete with the countless number of street racing games out there. It plays somewhat similar to the last games, however it has since lost its arcade-feel and is slowly edging towards realistic simulation. Still, there is plenty of mayhem to be had in Shatter Bay (another terrible name).
The graphics are decent, music is decent, gameplay is decent, this game is painfully average. However, the gameplay is a lot more fast-paced and destructive than other street racers, which may turn some people on to it who miss the old Burnout games.
Online mode is dead, not a soul to be seen, so don't get it expecting to play online. Its relatively steep asking price of $50 is a bit much, but if it goes on sale you might want to check this title out.

It's a pretty good game, fast paced, great fun when racing with friends (don't count on being able to find randoms online to play with) The turbo mechanics are much the same as other ridge racers but the drift dynamics are slightly more 'realistic' that say RRV or RRR which I prefer for the sheer artificial feel but it's still a worthy addition to the series and much more entertaining & light heated than the stodgy likes of simulators like Gran Turismo.

It's a decent game, handles fairly well and has a fairly decent track creator. The problem is the online is pretty much dead and the lighting effects may bother some people. It also plays nothing like other Ridge Racer games so don't but it expecting that.
