City building game worth mentioning

drakso | May 15, 2014 | See all drakso's reviews »

You want to play a city building game and you are tired of simcity4? Well, this is the game for you. This game lets you build a city almost to your own liking and have tons of fun while doing it. The UI is similar to all the city building games before this but it appears to be quite effective. There is also some interaction between the cities in a sense that you can trade power or garbage between cities and people can move to other cities. There are some problems that are constant and that you are going to be battling all the time such as not enough workplaces or workforce, the traffic or the pollution. But That's the problems you will face when you try to run a city I guess. The graphics are basic, not really big deal and the music is okay to have it in the background.

Great alternative to Sim City

nightassassin1 | May 13, 2014 | See all nightassassin1's reviews »

This game is a good alternative to Sim City. It plays very similar and has a few different options. There is a bad lag that you get when you develop your map a lot. This is because the area is so big and you have a huge amount of entities moving around that must be rendered and tracked constantly. The programmers did not understand how to optimize this properly and that is what is causing the lag you read about. I feel that this is no buggier than Sim City and the best plus is that it is not affiliated with EA, the company notorious for giving out broken games and doing little about it.

I recommend this if you want a city building game. It is fun and well priced with no gimmicks like building DLC that you find with Sim City. When you buy this game, you get the entire game. Now I will get back to monitoring my Oil Dale city that is producing millions every few minutes.

Fun city building game, but laggy

Woundead | Oct. 12, 2013 | See all Woundead's reviews »

Fun game that lets you build a city. Similair to the Sim city series.

If you like this type of games I would recommend it.

Fun gameplay and graphics are nice for this type of game.

There are some performance issues though that (often) happends after you have played for and extended amount of time (2-3h+). But sometimes it occurs even around the 1h mark. The easist fix to this problem is the restart the game. But sometimes even this seem to resolve the issue.

There are some great mods for this game, and as for starters I recommend at least the "User Interface Mod"

Nice game but the optimization...

fussioman | Oct. 10, 2013 | See all fussioman's reviews »

I experienced some problems on my PC but the game itself is good and in my case, I just had to restart it after about 2-3hours of play and it worked fine again - it was about FPS drops and I experienced a couple of other less bugs.

I think this game is more realistic than SimCity and because of that a little bit better ! I have the platinum version of the game and I'm really happy that I bought it but I think it's more wise to buy the cheaper copy.

The graphics are really detailed and the gameplay was good to me for about 2 hours, after this I experienced the mentioned earlier lags and I had to restart the game.

So overall, the game is really nice and if not the problems I had with the bugs and lagging I would give it 70 over here.

A rival for Sim City!

Solosmoke | Sept. 16, 2013 | See all Solosmoke's reviews »

I held off getting this game because in the past, most city sim games have proven to be lacking, the latest installment by Maxis included, but after the let down with the latest Sim City I thought I'd give this a go and wow! I haven't regretted it yet.

Does it have bugs? Yes, but so does Sim City 4 and Sim City 2012 and are easily overlooked. The detailing is incredible, the dynamics are immense, the replayability is definitely there! And another great part is that it has tons of mods available on various sites which increase the games beauty and variety.

Game is quite good but...

Yes this is true that game suffer from bugs and memory leaks, but what is most interesting that not for everyone one. Looks like for certain pc specs the game works better and on some the game doesnt even want to run properly. I didnt have a slight problem with the game, can play for hours and nothing happens, sometimes after like 5h of continous playing i just need to restart it to make it work properly.

If you want a city that is on based on sims and you dont want to be limited by small plot size this game is good choice. But dont buy Platinium, maybe you can find much cheaper 2011 or 2012 which is the same game just without some buildings that you can easly add to the game with mods that are fully functional, just visit sites like XLNation.

Bugs and Memory Leaks

Robes | Feb. 14, 2013 | See all Robes's reviews »

The game suffers from bug and memory leaks that were in pre-existing iterations of the cities xl. With the memory leak, the game basically becomes unplayable after 1 hour due it dropping down to 1-5 fps. Bear in mind Focus Home Interactive is aware of this and HAVE NOT FIXED IT.

The release of this game is a shamless attempt to get money for people impatiently waiting for SimCity coming out next month.

I strongly suggest you view the forums for this game on Steam and read what other people have to say about the game.
