Great strategy game!

When I first saw Maelstrom: The Battle For Earth Begins I thought it was going to be a boring and a dull game, but I was so wrong! The game has the looks of a completely mediocre RTS and neither the graphics nor the sound make a good first impression either.

But the game is suprisingly good! You get to choose between three unique factions with different play style: The freedom fighting Remnants, technologically advanced Ascension and a savage alien race, the Hei-Genti. There are three basic resources: energy, mass, water. But the mass is different for every faction - DNA for Ascension, scrap for the Remnants and bio-mass for the Hei-Genti.

A single-player campaign is pretty good and I enjoyed it. The best aspect of the campaign is that it gets better as it goes on and you'll never get bored of it. On top of all it is quite addictive and the overall experience is quite rich.

The game has a very nice faciton balance and it's very fun to play once you get used to it. The voice acting is almost perfect and the campaign is top notch. However, the graphics are merely mediocre, animations are bad and multiplayer could be a whole lot better.

But, yeah, I enjoyed the game and I think it's worth those 5 bucks I spent for it. If a sequel should come, I will definetly buy it.
