Reviews for A New Beginning: Final Cut

A New Beginning is a slightly humorous yet serious thriller/drama point & click adventure regarding the end of the world. The plot revolves around two characters, Bent and Fay, on their quest to hinder the global warming that threaten the planet. The game features a great story that will keep you going for hours, visualized as a well made 2D-graphic novel style.
The musical score is excellent and further enhances the experience, the voiceovers however felt a bit stale in comparison, sometimes accompanied by quite tacky dialogue. There are also decent puzzle mini-games throughout the game providing enough challenge to be enjoyable. A New Beginning delivers a great mix of humor and thriller and it had me hooked until the very end.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game and if you’re a fan of adventure point & clicks, this is one of the more recent must-plays!

The game is made really well, the story is interesting. The graphics look like a piece of art, looks hand drawn and it's really beautiful. The dialogue is written well and the sound in the backgrounds are really nice. The point and click mechanics are built really well. The storyline is fun and it's a game that I want to play again. I recommend this game. This game is worth full price let alone during a small sale!

I'm not usually a big fan of adventure games (except maybe for the original Indiana Jones...). However the maturity of the storyline got me to buy it. I do enjoy the cartoony cut scenes delivery as well.
In terms of the story I was really impressed. It's twists and turns and you never really know where it's going. It's got this nice flash-back story thing going as well so you don't get bored in the same place/time too long.
There are a few quirks on the way the cut scenes are delivered. Sometimes you get audio spats in between scenes (probably loading / unloading sounds?) and some minor other bugs. Sometimes the characters have a bit of moon-walking action going on, in the close up scenes. Also some lip syncing is completely off in some cut scenes but that could be my computer... And I'm being picky. It doesn't take you out of the action which is the main thing... The puzzles between scenes can be a big gimmicky at times but I think that's just the nature of any adventure games. I did enjoy the skip button availability for complex puzzles. You get to the point where "ok I see where this is going but I've had enough of this" and you can skip. Cool stuff. I really dig the story, so it always gave me the incentive to see what's next and push through puzzles.
Overall very happy with this title and I'm not finished with it yet. So thumbs up
Better than average point and click adventurebritishlad | May 30, 2013 | See all britishlad's reviews »
This is a very good game and well made. It has an engaging story, believable characters although a little cliche. The art is beautifully immersive! The typical point and click mechanics have been built upon and there are some novel ideas in the way you interact with the environment. The writing is quite good and genuinely funny at times. So nearly everything about this game is good - so why the average rating? Because the game is let down by dreadful voice acting! It's hard to get drawn into the storyline when the voice acting is just awful and it completely spoils the storyline and game!
Very good game if you can grit your teeth through the dialogue scenes!
