The Guild 2 is a unique game which unfortunately got a bad name due to its numerous bugs and poor tutorials. The issues were resolved over time and expansion. The Guild 2: Renaissance is a standalone expansion containing all the previous expansions and fixes. Set in the Hanseatic league during late medieval times you start the game off by creating a character, a male of a female, specializing in one of 4 classes - Rogue,Patron,Scholar or craftsman and the goal of this game is to create a dynasty of traders and craftsman. Build and trade to increase you wealth. use your wealth to buy influence and bribe your way into politics and use the power of politics to interfere with your rivals. or go the less reputable path and use mercenaries, bandits and all manner or rogueish characters to sabotage your enemies and even kill them. The game also has multiplayer so you can compete with friends.

Renaissance includes all the buildings and most of the maps in the previous games, and is a great sandbox game with a good mix of economics and RPG elements. It's kind of buggy and things like pathfinding could have been better. It also has no tutorial or campaign, but you can actually download The Guild 2 vanilla demo and play the tutorial in there, then jump into Renaissance for the main game. Definitely a good game to have in your library.

This game is surprisingly pretty good. The game puts you in a good perspective for people during the time this game is based off of. The graphics aren't that great, but are very good judging from when the game was made. There are plenty of bugs, but not enough to take away from the gameplay. This game is quite entertaining and I recommend it for anyone who wants a little time to spare for some fun.
