Reviews for Doom® 3 BFG Edition

Nearly a decade after Doom 3 came out, and I can only imagine Bethesda, the new publisher of id Software’s games, must have pushed for this re-release. But I don’t really see the point. It includes Doom 3, as well as the Lost Missions, which is a bunch of cut missions from Doom 3, and it has the rather lacklustre expansion, Resurrection of Evil.

In addition to this it has The Ultimate Doom and Doom II: Hell On Earth packaged in there too.

The problem here is that some mods for Doom 3 don’t work with this version, and many people, including me and people I personally know, have had issues with getting it to even work. That makes it hard to recommend this pack. I would much rather suggest that you purchase Doom 3 and perhaps the expansion separately, and then get a hold of Doom Classic Complete on GMG, which has Doom, Doom II, as well as the Master Levels for Doom II and Final Doom.

This re-release is really set to appeal to the console audience, but for PC gamers, you can do a lot better. It doesn't look or play much better than the original release of Doom 3, and there are mods out there that do a much better job of making the game prettier. It just ended up as a wasted opportunity.

Classic Horror

Whilst those that played the original DOOM games may be slightly disappointed with what DOOM 3 brung to the table, one still cannot deny that DOOM 3 was a very innovative title and way ahead of it's time in terms of graphical fidelity.

There are scary moments, there are action-packed moments and among that, a crap ton of gore. Chances are, if you're a fan of survival horror, you'll have a good time with DOOM 3.

Fans of the original Dooms would feel right at home here with this one, with extra content.

Set in the far distant future you have to blast yourself through various creatures from Hell.

Fun, survival action horror in FPS format.
