Nice houses and pretty good customizationMurderbot735 | July 28, 2015 | See all Murderbot735's reviews »
This piece of DLC is pretty simple, but it still feels like it adds a lot to the game. Having a home, or maybe ten homes, feels nice, but their only practical purpose is to store stuff at, or to have much stuff concentrated in one place. Anyway, the houses that can be built on the plots of land look great, and the customization is good. You have the main hall, and can then build other rooms in the different wings and a cellar. All the rooms feel very cozy, and can be customized with different furniture, which is placed automatically as you build it. The homes that can be bought in the cities look great too, but the customization isn't quite as extensive. Considering the small price for this, and the fact that Skyrim and its DLC is featured on pretty much every major sale, I don't see why you wouldn't pick this up. It makes Skyrim feel a lot more immersive, in my opinion.

You get 3 houses in this mod, but 2 of them pale in comparison to the one in Falkreath hold; Lakeview Manor. It also adds in adoption (which btw is a pretty nice feature) and new items. You actually have to acquire the materials through lots of gold or lots of time, or both! All in all, if you're looking for something simple but well-made, this is a great little expansion pack to get.
A simple dlc that adds a little more to the gameanticerber | Dec. 21, 2014 | See all anticerber's reviews »
No story here...no new bad guys, weapons, races, etc.....You get...a house....Some may think...that's it? Or I already own a place...But this is something you get to make...and despite being a bit tedious...if you really put yourself into the game...Living your character, it makes you feel like you have a home...like it's your home...a place you can come home to....put your belongings and it might sound weird but because of that it is actually my favorite dlc. Just to say if you aren't that type of gamer, and you just like beating the game, clearing objectives, and that sort of thing, this probably isn't for you....The only thing that could have made this better was a bit deeper of customization..
A fun DLC to bring into the world of Skyrimalanmaz567 | July 12, 2014 | See all alanmaz567's reviews »
In this DLC you are able to build your own house, there are a lot of rooms you can add to your house, in which you pick where you want to create those rooms and what you want to use them for. This DLC is definitely worth your money. This DLC give you the option to build 2 houses and in each land the house may look different. In this add-on you are able to adopt a child. You also have to protect your house from unwanted visitors such as bandits and giants. you can store your items or even create items in your house. I definitely recommend getting this DLC.

This DLC may not include an epic storyline with tons of new objects and quests like the other two and it Just gives you the opportunity to build your own house from scratch The three holds of the game that didn't have a purchasable property now offer you the choice to purchase a deed and build your own house there The housebuilding itself is pretty limited so don't expect it to have the depth of The Sims or Minecraft. However it's still pretty good since you have lots of different foundations, room types and interior design options Outside of house building and material collecting this DLC also adds some new options, like child adoption and hiring of a follower as a steward. There are also some fun new quests like protecting your property from raids or rescuing your family from kidnappers. A minor issue I had with the DLC is that sometimes items that you place in display cases or bookcases tend to glitch Hearthfire is a nice small DLC at a fair price that adds a lot of interesting features to the game
For a bargain, brings life into SkyrimIthuraen | Dec. 28, 2013 | See all Ithuraen's reviews »
A DLC package that breathes a little more life and adds a sense of home and ownership to parts of Skyrim. This addon gives you a small range of land parcels that you can choose from to start building a house and home. The choices are limited unfortunately, but the price is very good for a few hours extra content and the chance to really make a family of your own in a much more personalised house than vanilla Skyrim ever offered. The customisation of the house brings its own benefits too, including extra plants in a greenhouse for alchemists, a complete forge for armourers or even a coffin in your cellar for vampires to regenerate, all giving suitable buffs for your character or certain powers. The adoption and pet adoption mechanic seems to fit into the game seemlessly, with the childrens' interactions fully voice acted, and the stewards also reprise their role of voice actors from the followers you had in vanilla Skyrim. There are really no faults or problems with the addon except the occasional bug I had where part of my house disappeared until I reloaded a save, but unfortunately there is no "more" to this than what's written on the box. For a small DLC at a low price, it is worth it if you're after a house suited to your needs, if not all your wants.
