Golden Axe 2 is extremely similar to the first game. The same three characters return to once again take The Golden Axe out of the hands of the story's villain. Mounts are back, many of the same enemies return, and the little thief gnomes are present too.
That said, there are differences. Many of the attacks were changed to improve gameplay, the controls were improved, and in a few places the game got a cosmetic upgrade. Spells return, but the elements have changed and with them come new flash animations.
If you really liked Golden Axe, there's no reason you won't like it's sequel, though it is basically more of the same. If you for some reason didn't like Golden Axe, then this game will do little to change your opinion.

Golden Axe 1 was an instant classic. Sega knew it and made another title for the fans. Golden Axe 2 is very similar to Golden Axe 1. Infact its a direct sequel. We still play as one of the 3 warriors from the original title. Golden Axe 2 expands over the prequel with the inclusion of many new enemies, boss fights and 6 new levels. Game is still played as a left to right side scroller. This game is noticeably harder then the first one. So if you are a fan of the first. Golden Axe 2 is a must have to play by yourself or enjoy with a friend in local coop.

I still remember spending hours on end trying to finish this game. With PC, you have the luxury to save your game. I think I will pick it up on GMG. Price is just right to give this a whirl again. Amazing game for amazing price. Solid 9/10

Death Adder has been defeated at the end of the last game but unfortunately a new evil now threatens the peace. The Lord Of Darkness ‘Dark Guld’ has risen and is using his armies of darkness to bring chaos to the world. The three heroes of the original game is back to kick evil into its place and save the world one more time.
here are a few bigger bosses and the spells now look a bit more impressive but the improvements over the first game aren’t that big. You have the same three characters and they have the exact same moves. There is only six levels ranging from a ravaged village, ancient ruins, cave and castle so once more you’ll find the game over in no time. Nevertheless it's fun while it lasts and if you played the first game you'll want to try this one.

Golden Axe 1 was extremly enjoyable game. Golden Axe II is pretty similiar to his older brother, but have new levels, more enemies, more bosses, and, what is important, is much more difficult. Enemies are smarter and tougher. For me this isn't an advantage, GA2 still can give you lots of fun, but I'm getting a bit frustrated, when I'm playing it. This is the reason why I like first part of Golden Axe more.
Anway, if you liked Golden Axe, you'll like this one too, but be sure you are calm, before you'll play it ;].
