Fantastic, Fun, Challenging, and Funny

I'm not a huge FPS fan. Lost interest years ago. But this looked interesting and I grabbed it on a whim. WOW. It is hilarious. And got me addicted to playing FPS again. The gameplay is fairly level so that even someone who is terrible at FPS can gradually learn to get better. After awhile I was taking down garrisons, killing blood dragons, and watching Rex Colt be the most 1980's futuristic bad boy of all time. Level 6 is a doozy, though. Took me a good long time to finish that level, then like 20 minutes to finish the last level. Also, the first level is surprisingly tough. But after that I got much better and better at shooters in general. I've played a few other shooters since then. Blood Dragon surpasses them all. Easily one of my favorite games I've finished this year. You'll enjoy the over the top plot, difficulty, guns, dragons, getting killed by an ostrich, killing turtles, sneaking/planning firefights, knife kills, killing zombies, great music, and the KILLSTAR! Have fun.

The True Successor to Duke Nukem

Far Car 3: Blood Dragon is a standalone DLC which is great. I think that more companies should adopt such a business model: release a great game on a great engine, then rehash said game using associated engine to create a standalone "DLC" to rack up the profit. It's fantastic when the said game is fantastic (Far Cry 3). Though I haven't played Far Cry 3, I can solidly say that Blood Dragon is a fantastic anti game. It makes fun of cliche'd shooters with the hilarious plot and Duke Nukem like protagonist who will often pull one liners. The game is written with a likeness to cheesy 80's action movies and it really shows: there are many references to the Terminator, Robocop, and many other movies.
The gameplay is very similar to what I've seen of Far Cry 3, but most everything except for exclusive mission areas are available from the get go in that you can choose to ignore missions in order that you capture garrisons and take over the island. The missions also are very fun. It's worth noting that there aren't too many weapons. I don't know how many weapons you have off the top of my head, but I think you have around 8. However, they have many attachments that you get from doing side missions and the mission system as a whole is very well thought out.

It's worth noting that the Steam version of this game still requires the UPlay DRM which is a bit of an inconvenience.

Overall, buy this game if you enjoyed Duke Nukem 3D and cheesey 80's type movies. Other people have said that this is the game that Duke Nukem Forever should have been.

One of the best sci-fi shooters

Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion to Far Cry 3, which is one of the most enjoyable and memorable shooters. Which is important, Blood Dragon makes it even better by taking the story into a futuristic science-fiction setting. With the addition of sci-fi weapons, fabulously colorful surroundings, and intense gaming experience it immediately became one of my favorite sci-fi shooters. And the best thing is that you don't even need Far Cry 3 to play it, so if you're not interested in the base game you can do without it. The character you will play as is a tough sergeant, with no moral problems or questions. He's good at doing his job, whether it involves killing people or strange tigers with glowing eyes or even dragons. And this game allows you to take his place, and make it an enjoyable experience!
