Zombie-themed RTS

Survivor Squad is a RTS set in a zombie infested world. You will attempt to lead a squad of survivors through levels full of zombies of many kinds - in fact if you played Left 4 Dead you should recognize most of them with ease. With a top-down view the game allows for easy overview of your squad and plans, but unfortunately in the chaos of combat it will be difficult to pull off more complex plans involving individual actions of each squad member, so most often you will be moving and controlling your squad as a whole. The game is not very easy, so any demanding player may like the game. The game was initially suffering from many bugs, but many of the earlier bugs were eliminated and the game played pretty well for me now. The game now features a multiplayer mode as well, which was not previously a part of the game and was added later. Just as you would expect, it greatly increases the game's replayability as long as you have somebody to play with.

Great, fast-paced and addictive

Survivor Squad is a mix between an action game and a real time tactics one. You'll take control of a number of different characters and have them pass through randomly designed levels, while fighting the undead. The graphics style is minimal, but very well designed nontheless. Low-res textures are masked by the prevailing darkness, a flashlight being the only way you can see around you. However, the action is so fast-paced, that you'll always be on the lookout for zombies, and will care less about a few design errors. The minial sound effects are also used very smartly, managing to scare you when you least expect it. The gameplay has a great emphasis on squad play- only if you equip, your characters accordingly and use them , as a team, will you survive. A zombie can jump you from each dark corner, so you have to be permanently aware and keep everyone covered at all times. This might be hard at first, but within an hour or two you'll get used to it and it will seem very natural. You'll still encounter new, special enemies, but again, once you learn how to deal with them, you'll be fine. In a nutshell. Survivor squad is a great game, in which you need fast reflexes and a tactical thinking in order to survive inits zombie infested world.
