Reviews for Far Cry (NA)

A pretty old game, not too dated by today's standards

Cheesy & campy voice acting/story. Beautiful graphics for 2004, even looks kind of nice today. Great open world setting, but when you're forced indoors, the strategy reverts back to what it was trying to not be. The outdoor levels are much more fun. The second half of the game is frustrating though, the enemies cheat and can see you through buildings, never have to reload and have better vision than you. The monkeys (trigens) become super cheaters with invisibility, jumping all over the map, shooting rockets at you, etc.

I'd pick this up if you're a fan of early 2000s FPS and would like to see what 2004 had to offer.

A Must-Play Classic

Far Cry is a classic shooter that revolutionized the industry as a whole. It has addictive first-person gameplay, an interesting story, and graphics that are impressive for its time. Far Cry follows a stranded vacationer who has to fight off the island's organized fighters in order to get home. You play as the vacation-goer gone murderous rogue who will do anything to get out alive as he gains firearms and explosive that he must use to take out the fighters and get away. If you like first-person shooters, a good story, and a crazed island, Far Cry is a must-have.

Great older shooter!

From the same people who made Crysis, Far Cry 1 is still a great experience despite being an older game. The story gets a bit weird toward the end, but it's solid for most of the game, and the gunplay is excellent. The graphics mostly hold up, the AI is smart, and it's well worth picking up if you like open world-ish shooters.
