Supreme Commander is one of the best RTS games I ever played, and I played hundreds of them. If you haven't played it yet you're missing out. while there is no official multiplayer support for this game since GPG closed down their multiplayer services, the online community banded together to make a mod (Forged Alliance Forever) which provides multiplayer aswell as fixes and balancing and the online community is still at large. Pros: *Scale, the game has amazing huge maps and you can field massive armies and fight at air, land or sea (with several units being either submersible or amphibious) *4 factions, each feeling unique by its own right with its own strengths and weaknesses and its own units and buildings , some are unique to a faction and have no comparable counterpart in other factions. *Experimental are incredibly fun. as late game super units/buildings these take a long time to complete but are a complete game-changer and incredibly fun. *Amazingly fun game, especially with multiplayer. *Some of the best artillery I've seen in games. Most RTS games have some form of artillery but Supreme Commander does it right. there is a large variety, from units to buildings, from relatively short range to those that can shoot at things across the (massive) map. *Great economy. economy is less of a chore, but more challenging than other games. its a long explanation but its a great economic system. Cons: *As with all games, its sometimes hard to keep track many things, especially when fighting in multiple fronts. this is harder in this game due to its sheer scale and massive maps. *The game is easy to learn but hard to master so you might have a hard time with multiplayer at first since there are so many veterans.
Fun yet complex game that forces you to think.Silentstrike46 | Aug. 24, 2014 | See all Silentstrike46's reviews »
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (SC: FA) is an amazing expansion pack to the base game. It improves the game in many aspects, as well as adding a new fraction - the Seraphim. There are new missions, new units, and more fun! If you own the base game (Supreme Commander), Forged Alliance is a must have. If you do not have the base game, however, I would suggest buying that first. While you can play vs people with the base game, you will only have access to the Seraphim faction. My vote: 9.5/10 TL;DR - Good game, must buy if you have the base game. A word of advice: Look into getting Forged Alliance Forever Lobby (it's free). Basically, there are problems with the steam version of this game connecting to the retail/disk version due to difference in versions. FAF is basically a lobby that allow the two to connect. Furthermore, it allows you to add mods and play with people across the world.
Buy it now! double the fun!luci2100 | July 25, 2014 | See all luci2100's reviews »

Classic RTS, buy now.Unbenannte | Jan. 28, 2014 | See all Unbenannte's reviews »
Many claim this game is one of the best RTS games out there. I agree, its a stand alone expansion, but it has a lot of old content from its predecessor, and that makes it great. One of the best campaigns, large and fun, a new amazing race to play with, micro and macro goes beyond anything, really redefined the RTS concept. At least for me, controlling all does units makes me go nuts, all the power in the tip of your hand. Your brain is the best weapon you have in this game, so use it good and hard. I say its a must have for any RTS fan, doesn't matter if you are new or a veteran. Its a classic, I dare to say. Its cheap for the huge content that it offers, also playing multiplayer against someone is a great experience, buying two copies for fighting friends and family is recommended, gives extra fun. Hope this is useful.

The base-game SupCom is the spiritual follow-up of the game that defined the RTS genre; Total Annihilation. This game by Chris Taylor sets new benchmarks for skill, micromanagement, scale and complexity in a RTS game (still today no game can rivals this game, maybe Planetary Annihilation can, but we have to wait for it) Since the downfall of GPG the community has taken hosting and development on itself and the game has evolved to even higher quality in the form of Forged Alliance Forever. There still is a lively community around this game and every night there are many online games. Major down-side is the skill of your opponents ;) For everybody who hasn't played this game and likes the RTS genre. Shame on you. Forget games like C&C and Starcraft, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a standalone expansion to the hugely successful Supreme Commander. It builds on the original in all the important areas and keeps the core mechanics intact, like the much loved economy system. Forged Alliance adds a new campaign, picking up a few years after the original, it also adds new units and a completely new faction, The Seraphim, with a completely new play style. This game still enjoys a mod scene, and I can really recommend the Black Ops mod for new units and expanded play and the Sorian AI for harder AI that can use compatible mod units (like black ops). Worth every Penny.

Despite the release of Supreme Commander 2, many players still claim the original game was much better. And Forged Alliance was an improvement to this already great game. It's a standalone expansion, which adds a new faction (Seraphim), and a new single player campaign involving this new alien race. There are over a hundred new units in the game, including fleet, orbital guns or counterintelligence systems. Also the gameplay was streamlined and improved - for example you can now create templates for building future bases which makes the task easier and faster. This allows to focus more on decisions and strategy than on tedious tasks, which makes the game even better and more enjoyable than the bare Supreme Commander, which still remains one of the best sci-fi strategy games available.
