Reviews for Real World Racing [Playfire]

Not too bad, but certainly not easy!

This game isn't bad. It's a top down racer but far away from arcades like micro machines but more geared towards the more realistic racing sims (even though it's still very much arcade). Winning a race isn't easy due to multiple reasons: 1. The cars behave according to their speed, meaning that when you drive 150km/h and hit a 90° corner, you are gonna end up not on the road but off the road, severely slowing you down 2. The controls are a little laggy, even though that could be by design. Overall not a bad racing game with a rather unique perspective. One of the few top down racers and probably the only one that takes a more serious approach to racing.

Top-down racer in real cities.

What makes Real World Racing different is the world you will be racing in. The developers had an interesting idea of using real world maps, or more accurately speaking: aerial maps, and turning them into racing tracks. This works pretty well with the top-down view, but I am still not completely convinced if I can get used to thinking about such a game as of a serious racing game. It feels more like a toy-car racer, despite its physics based engine. In fact if it wasn't for the top-down view I could have felt it's more serious, with pretty good physics and well done sound, but I think I still need to get used to the way the game is.

Something different

This game is pretty cool, but quite different from what you can normally expect from a racing game. Firstly, you do view the game from a bird's eye view- which takes some getting used to, but once you do, it's fine. Secondly, the maps are exceptionally detailed, almost as if they are from google earth, which is pretty cool. All in all, an awesome title.
