Welcome to dead island again!?

To start off I think riptide has gotten an unfair judgement when it comes to people saying that it’s just more of the same so it should have just been a dlc, when franchises like call of duty do it year after year and get praised for it. Riptide is certainly more of the same when it comes to the combat it is essentially identical to that of the first game however they have greatly improved the usefulness of guns and there is a lot more emphasis on using them in the latter half of the game. Where riptide stands out from its predecessor is the game world and environment, it is much more lively and there is a lot more to do whether it saving random strangers from the undead surrounding them or clearing out dead zones which are essentially dungeons containing special monsters and rare loot, there is plenty to do in riptide that being said, if you weren’t a fan of the first I very much doubt that enough has changed in order for you to enjoy this one sufficiently. When it comes to the story it is much stronger than the first and plays along more like a classic zombie movie, discovering about and trying to stop an evil corporation from using the virus as a weapon etc. Overall Riptide is a great improvement in every aspect to the original and is a strong sequel although if you not ready to spend another 20+ hours hacking zombies limbs to pieces then this probably isn’t for you, but if you are ready then I recommend you dive right in.

More of the Same

If you have played the original Dead Island you know what to expect; Riptide pretty much feels like exactly the same as you are on the same island battling hordes of the undead, trying to survive.

The island of Palanai is still vat with lots to explore and travelling around, but would have been much better if this was marketed (and priced as DLC/additional/bonus content)
