My all-time favorite anything ever

It's hard to put a finger on exactly what it is that makes Gothic 2 my all-time favorite game. The graphics weren't very impressive even for the time, the combat is somewhat clunky and at times extremely clunky, the voice acting isn't all that strong, and I'm sure there are other things to say that would negate any other game.

... But Gothic 2 remains just an excellent roleplaying game. It has something so many RPGs these days completely lack. Heart. Gothic 2 is a snuggly game. It feels like it wraps you inside a blanket to tell you a wonderful little story of knights and robbers, bravery and betrayal. Or something. And then, of course, it bashes you across the face with its infuriatingly difficult combat. Don't expect to be able to beat up everything you come across immediately once you get into the game! You'll learn quickly how insignificant you are when you first start the game up.

But of course, that's part of the charm. You genuinely feel like you're a part of this dense, lush and living world. You're not some godlike deity who can crush all resistance with a few taps of a button. You must conform to and abide by the laws of the universe, at least until you can get yourself a job, earn a little money, get the attention of the militia, earn their respect and start building up your strength from there. But before that, you're better off running away from battle. And there are often other ways to get around a problem other than using combat. Most quests have various choices and outcomes, and there are often consequences to your actions - some of which you won't see coming until much later in the game. There is no real black and white here, no good or evil. Even smaller characters you interact with have their own side of the story to tell.

You'll get a tremendous feeling of accomplishment, playing Gothic 2. You'll get a feeling of mastery. You're getting better. You're growing powerful. Soon, even the mighty orcs won't be able to challenge you. But there are still things to fight, secrets to unravel, places to explore. Especially now that the game comes coupled with the excellent expansion pack, introducing a new environment and a new questline.

Gothic 2 isn't a perfect game, and it certainly isn't for everyone. But if you can get past its somewhat slow start, excruciating combat and arguably dated graphics, you'll surely have a great time exploring the story and the world of Gothic 2.

My first contact was hard, I can't understood controls, graphics was terrible so I uninstall the game.

After some time I gave the game second chance and I'm not disappointed. When we get used to controls and visuals, we saw game with many, many ways to finish. For example: as paladin we have other quests and other way to finish game than we chose wizard. Ending is one, but missions which lead to it are different for each 3 fraction. At sometimes we have nonlinear dialogues when further part of quest depends on what we choose. Story is interesting and addictive. And you better play Gothic 1 before 2 to understand the world of Gothic. For ending if you endured graphics you will see very good game with deep world.

I highly recommend the game Gothic 2 In my opinion this is the best RPG of our time. It is surprising and unpredictable. Playing in her every moment you just what a monster is lurking around the corner, what happens after the next task. If you enjoy role-playing games necessarily , without exception, must play in Gothic 2 , but only then , when you move the first part of the game , because you will not know why some people are familiar with the game you do not know the previous history of the Gothic surprising . Really, if you play this game you will not regret it!
