Darker prince

Prince of Persia Warrior Within is a direct sequel to Sands of Time. The game takes the character and story in a darker direction, but is still the same fun action game you remember the original being.

Warrior Within takes place after Sands of Time, but officially starts the convoluted timeline the Prince is thrown into because of events of the story. Platforming, puzzles, combat, etc. are all here with the same quality seen in the past game. Graphics get a bump from the Sands of Time, and enemies are more detailed and varied this time around.

The coolest part of Warrior Within is the Dahaka, a beast whose only point is to destroy your character. You will be hunted and chased by him throughout the game, and this provides a cool story point.

I highly recommend this as a worthy sequel to Sands of Time.

This game is one of my favorite games ever, it had a great story, awesome and ground breaking (for the time) gameplay and slow smoooooootion!!!

The good:

  • Best melee combat system of its time, you had lots of combinations to finish your enemiges.

  • Awesome parkour mechanics

  • Great soundtrack

  • An awesome story with a unique plot twist.

  • Is more or less sandbox game, you can go almost to anywhere, if you unlocke it first.

  • Lots of replability value.

  • Cool secrets and easter eggs.

The bad:

  • The combat system is a little old but with practice you can beat the game easily

  • Punishing as hell, but fun

  • Some annoying quicktime events.

I trully love this game, for me it is the best Prince of Persia game ever!

Recently I replayed this game and it is just as amazing as it was when I was younger. There is so much more depth built up from the mechanics in PoP: The Sands of Time. The combat and is intense, the music is perfect, and the scenes where you have to escape the dahaka will have you on the edge of your chair. Do NOT pass this game up because of it's age. It is a great game and one of the classics of the PS2. In my opinion it is better than anything this generation's adventure games can offer.
