Nostalgia In Your Face

I'm a huge fan of shoot-em-ups like this. A lot of my childhood was spent just gunning through waves of enemies, and I've really missed doing that. Now I have the chance to do so again, with a wonderful remake, nonetheless. The updated graphics do well to bring this game to our time, while the old school tracks still give you a feeling that you're playing something old. Old, but still strong to stand the test of time. The Steam achievements really make it interesting by adding goals for you, or for you and your friend, since this game allows for some 2-player co-op, either online or locally. I'm not at all "bothered" by the limited options. I think that's what some old games do well. It doesn't overwhelm you with too much, and the limitations only prove to make you more conscious of your decisions. This game does that well. This game was well worth that walk down memory lane.

Taking It Back, Old School

The Chaos Engine brings back the reminiscent days of the very early PC gaming era in the early 90's. The game incorporates more freedom of movement and aiming in its shooter form in comparison to Metal Slug whilst also keeping to the "2 Player" co-op mode type shooter that was so frequent back in those times. This game however is not for the weak willed as the difficulty is incredibly punishing even to the seasoned veteran which adds to the splendour of wanting to explore every nook and cranny of the levels for that one bit of upgrade or just that little bit of cash to upgrade your character to give you a better fighting chance. For those of you wanting a nostalgia fix, this will definitely fill you, and then some.
