The Maw is a purple blob that wants to eat everything. Fortunately, you play as Frank, another alien that befriends Maw, so you don't have to worry about becoming food. Frank and Maw start the game as captives on a space ship, but the ship soon crashes and the two are free. Frank has an electronic leash to guide Maw, and also to pick up other creatures that can be used in attacks. You have to help Maw eat in order to get larger. Once large enough, he can eat special aliens that give him powers like flame breath, which are used to get past obstacles.
The game has a nice charm to it, but it is fairly shallow. The characters don't really develop as the game goes. Cutscenes are mostly just antics. The level design doesn't really change much, so getting from Point A to Point B can get dull after a time. This is an early indie game, so some of this is understandable. Unfortunately, it doesn't really hold up as well as a result. It's good for a few hours of enjoyment, but that's about it.
