Just Cause 2 is a great game.
The combat, vehicles, weapons, and even the quests are amazing. The graphics are amazing. There are several weapons you can buy or find off dead bodies to use against your enemies. There are so many quests to do which can take a lot of hours out of your day. You can explore this huge island filled with jungles, mountains, and even tall skyscrapers. This game is just amazing and doesn't cost that much when there is a sale.
Easily recommend this game to anyone with a few dollars in their wallet.

I know I played Just Cause 1 at some point in my life, but I'm certain it was nothing like this. This game has been on sale numerous times and if you don't own it yet then you are missing out. With the recent Multiplayer Mod the value of this game has only been increased.
The story is bleh, the voiced acting is hilariously god awful, (Scorpiooooooo) but who cares when you have one of the most gorgeous landscapes to grapple and parachute across.

Just Cause 2 is great game. The combat, vehicles, weapons, and even the quests are great. Creating chaos in a video game is something everybody loves to do, and this game wants you to do that. This game appeals to a gamer and has what they want in a game. I would recommend this game to anyone. It is amazing!

Having never played JC1, I had no idea what I was getting into when I got this at a bargain basement deal. This turned out to be one of my favorite open world gaming experiences in a long time. The parachute/grapple combination allows for scaling the maps at rapid speed and the action is contagious. I find myself going back to this game having already beaten it just to go from town to town to find all the upgrades. It's a good time!

I play this game every day and it's great !
You can do everything in this game, it's like GTA series. I think every gamer must have this game. The graphics is awesome, gameplay is good, weapons are excellent... Also you can play Just Cause 2 multiplayer that gives more than hundred hours good spent.
If you buy this game, you will have a lot of fun hours.

In a sentence, Just Cause 2 accomplishes everything it sets out to achieve. It's total, unadulterated destructive mayhem. Go anywhere, do anything, break everything. You can even ignore the story if you want, and just hunt for upgrades and things to destroy as you go along. There are tons of secrets to find, dozens of destructive vehicles to steal, and an unending tie of enemies to lay waste to.
For me, there were only two downsides to the game, and neither of them detracted too much from the overall experience. One, the story is fairly short and relatively uninspired. The game is still a ton of fun without an epic story, but it could have been even better with one. And two, the island on which the game takes place is perhaps a little too big. There's a reason why the final completion achievement doesn't actually call for 100%.
Overall, Just Cause 2 is a great destructive adventure. If you've ever wanted to tether a car to a plane and then crash it all into a mountainside, this is the game for you.

Just Cause 1, as a kid, was one of the greatest games I'd ever played. The open world and large array of possibilities were all new things I'd never witnessed in games other than the first few GTA's. Of course, I wanted more action, so when this game was released and I played it for the first time, I knew instantly that the devs had created a masterpiece.
Just Cause 2 will bring you hours of action and adventure with it's expansive open world, tons of vehicles for both land, air and sea as well as the huge array of weaponry. Furthermore, hop on the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod to share the experience with your friends. Crashing planes into your friends has never been this fun!

It's easy for me to say that Just Cause 2 is one of the best sandbox titles I have ever played on my system. Running/flying/driving/sailing around the islands of Panau and causing chaos is almost endless fun, especially with the massive amount of vehicles, weapons and gadgets at your disposal.
Now, it should be mentioned that the actual storyline is mediocre and nothing to write home about but the sandbox elements do indeed make up for that in spades. The graphics are still great after all of these years and the game performs fairly well on a good range of systems. The game even has multiplayer thanks to the free JC2:MP mod that is available through Steam from a talented group of modders.
If you want some crazy sandbox action you should already own this game, I should have to tell you to get it. If you don't already have it somehow, buy it. The game frequently goes on sale and can be found for around £3 if you catch it at the right time. It's an absolute bargain.

All this game is about is blowing stuff up. If you aren't causing a car wreck or blowing somebodies head off or crashing a plane into a building at any given second of the game you are playing it wrong. That said, that's really all there is to do in this game. Don't come in here looking for some master story written by Steven Spielberg cause you are definitely in the wrong place. Actually the game would probably be better if there was no story. Pick this up on sale when you find it, don't pay full price

I have no idea to classify this game as. I guess it's GTA with a big parachute and a huge blimp. I've put at least 50 hours into this game, and for 15 bucks, that is a lot of gameplay. Plus, with multiplayer, you can mess around even more. I love this game, and with a few more tweaks, it would easily be my ideal open-world game.

This is definitely one of the best sandboxes out there. The gameplay is great, though I suggest using a controller instead of a mouse/keyboard. The plot isn't amazing, but the rest of the game makes up for it, especially the side missions. There's something for everybody - the main story can be completed by more casual gamers, but the other missions can be difficult enough for more hardcore gamers. I would recommend a good computer for it, as otherwise the lag will probably make it unplayable.

Just Cause 2 is a great game, and it is really one of the games that anyone who calls themselves a gamer should play. The graphics are good, and the plot is also alright. It is fairly easy to understand, and of course, the Xbox controller can be used on this game, which I find much easier than a keyboard and mouse. What’s more, the game now has a multiplayer option, which really opens up the game to a new level. This feature is fantastic, as you can have lots of people on the same map, and yet still have the enjoyment of Just Cause 2

If you're lamenting the absence of well-optimized GTA on PC, then look no further; JC2 is filled with tons of the open-world chaos you know and love, especially with the new JC2:MP mod which adds up to three thousand player multiplayer. So there's that. If you can ignore the cliche story and focus on the fun, open missions, then definitely pick this game up.

Here's a game that goes all the way without compromise, for best and worst and most of the time, it's really good. Your name is Rico, and your mission is simple: engender chaos. This game reminds a lot 80s action movie where the hero blows everything up. Because of the open world à-la-GTA, the gameplay might feel a little shallow and loose, maybe mostly because this game is made to be played with a gamepad, in fact I highly recommend playing this game with a gamepad not because it's more precise, just because this is a console game after all. The graphics are holding up pretty good, the game is cheap and fun but the best thing about Just Cause 2 is the newly added multiplayer. This will give you hours of crazy mindless fun in a world of diversity. B+
Great gameMandemon | Jan. 30, 2014 | See all Mandemon's reviews »
The game is good fun. It offers a wide range of weapons to use, massive map to play around, varied environment and tons of missions to complete. Oh, and lets not forget the insane amount of collectibles that have been hidden.
You play as Rico Rodriguez, an agent of a governmental organization simply called The Agency. Your job is to destabilize small pacific island nation of Panau... so that you can install your own dictator. Yeah, it's one of those games without "good guys".
Despite starting to be somewhat old game, the game still looks great. However, on a downside, the game might not run well on some older systems. So word of warning there. You also need DirectX 10. This is a must, the game refuses to run without it.
Game is played from the third person view. Player has access to wide range of weapons, from pistols to rocket launchers to bubble blasters. However, you will soon find yourself mostly using the grapple launcher. This little thing allows Rico to jump around the place like a Spiderman, jump to vehicles, attach people to vehicles while he drives away or just pull people of the ledges.
Vehicle variety is also massive. You can find almost anything, from Tuk-Tuks to sports cars to military jets to air liner. Not only that, player can capture pretty much anything on spot, assuming the player manages to aim his grapple correctly.
Game offers great fun, with ability screw around. Recent addition of multiplayer mod only increases this fun, as now you have multiple players running around, all equally insane.
However, the game is not without it's flaws. First thing is, that the game can be too big, with lots of time spend trying to get from point A to point B. Stronghold missions can also get boringly systematic. Several places also have clone feel to them.
Yet, in the end, the game is great. It offers bang for your buck and guarantees you will want to return to it, even if you are just looking to screw around.

Just Cause 2 could be a great game in its own standing. Put on top of that the fact that its the sequel to a just as ridiculous game makes it even more worth the money to play. Basically, your a secret agent with a grappling hook arm, who works for the government, but doesn't, hunting for a man (who then becomes your ally) so that you can help liberate an island by going under cover as a criminal (which is what you really are). How do you do this you may ask... by blowing up everything and anything you can see, that's it. Sure you can go and do the missions and help kill off government slack-jaws, but why do that when you could just tie a boat to a jumbo jet and park it on top of a floating night club thousands of feet in the air. The size of this game is amazingly huge, and the graphics are quite beautiful. the engine runs amazing on even a toaster. You will spend hours just para-sailing across hundreds of thousands of miles of beautiful, lush, and deadly terrain.
The missions are very repetitive, and the story is very straightforward and uninteresting, however that's not what your there for....really... i promise you. Flying a tank... that's what your there for.
Dude, where's my Just Cause 3?sonicchaos | Jan. 26, 2014 | See all sonicchaos's reviews »
This game is fun. It's weird that it keeps reminding me of Mercenaries 2, which was also a fun game until it got awfully repetitive, but this game is so huge and so fun that you just can't get enough of. Sadly, there isn't much to the story, and that sucks because the devs could have easily pulled a Saints Row and go all crazy with it. But they just tried and it all falls flat. There are some nifty jests here and there, but they don't follow up on the idea. For example, there a joke where the villain introduces his ninjas, Rico says he hates ninjas and you beat up ninjas and never see ninjas ever again. That would have been a great introduction to a challenging new enemy in the game, but unfortunately that happens very late in the game and I don't think the sandbox nature of the game would allow it. But that's okay, there's a lot to be had with this game outside the main story. But to conclude the story section of the review, it's awfully short. I finished the game on normal difficulty and to get the highest difficulty achievement, I went at it again, doing practically a speed run. It took me about a couple of hours or so, at the highest difficulty. But the story is only a small part of what makes this game great. There aren't notable boss fight except for the ending, there isn't much variety in the main missions, but the main course of this game is " his wire thingy" as the locals call it, or the grappling hook, and of course the destruction and mayhem. Stealing helicopters, doing insane stunts, shooting stuff, causing chaos, provoking the authorities to come after you in a better chopper to steal and doing it all over again, never gets old. What upset me the most is that I actually went after all those collectibles the factions were looking for and I got literally nothing in return, not even an achievement. That really blows, so don't make the same mistake. See a drug drop or a money suitcase, just ignore them. Visually amazing, won awards for best graphics and shows it. The voice acting and character animations in the cutscenes fall into the "so bad is good" category. Also, I don't really know what is up with the cutscene quality in this game, but it's technically awful. Rico is iconic as ever. His one-liners are funny as hell, although they become really repetitive after a while. Start blowing stuff off from a chopper and he'll start singing "Flight of the bumblebees." The world is amazing, the map is so huge I promise you'll never discover all the locations. Now then ever is the chance to buy the game if you haven't done so yet and after finishing the game, try immersing yourself in the community-made multiplayer mod. It's probably one of the most fun multiplayers ever, with amazing players and all set in the same world as the single player with thousands of players at once and still working seamlessly. In a nutshell, Just Cause 2 is a great experience.

This game is GTA style type of gaming. You roam the city doing missions and killing people. You also get to jump out of an airplane which is something cool that you don't see very often. The graphics are also very nice and detailed. The water, sand, grass, EVERYTHING is on point. The sounds that are coming makes you feel like you're actually surrounded by the game setting. There is also multiplayer and it makes the game even more fun when people just create total chaos against each other. Overall a fun game.
A fun sandbox gameSganotak | Jan. 22, 2014 | See all Sganotak's reviews »
Just Cause 2 puts you in the shoes of Rico Rodriguez and sets you loose on a fictional tropical island. The game is fun, granted, but the novelty that it initially has wears off before too long of playing.
Rico's main and most interesting weapon is the grappling hook which allows you to tie two objects together or get to your destination quicker. This game also provides you with multiple parachutes as you fall courageously from the sky. It's unrealistic, that's a given, but that's what separates it out from games such as Grand Theft Auto. Graphically Just Cause 2 is stunning. The tropical vistas dash out in front you, begging to be explored. Too bad the game's world is mostly empty and generic. Some of the game just feels too empty. It makes the city feel completely static, and the one time you find a person, if you accidentally hurt them, you'll get far too many police coming in your direction.
One of the good things about Just Cause 2 is the sense of speed and adrenaline that the game gives you, it's completely unrealistic, but it's just so much fun. The ragdoll physics definitely do the game some good as well, because if you go flying off a cliff, you hover and crash ferociously on the cliff below. The game definitely has a few secrets too,. There is also such a vast array of things in the game that it takes so long to get from one end to the other. There are achievements that you can hunt for, but getting them on STEAM isn't really that satisfying, they're just something extra.
The audio in this game is beyond bad, the voice acting is terrible both in quality and the actual acting. The music was OK though
The main problem that I had with Just Cause 2 is that it doesn't have much replay value and you won't return to it for a second playthrough. It's fun game for, sure, but even before the end, you will be bored and eager to give it up and play something else. There also a recently released multiplayer mode for the game, which admittedly is a lot more fun than single player. At it's current price and paired with a discount coupon from GMG it's certainly worth a purchase

I bought this one because of a sale and I didn't have very high expectations, another GTA wannabe, I said. But luckily I was wrong.
Despite being 4 years old, this game still has good graphics and the story is amazing. The world is brilliantly designed and there are so many things that you can do that this game has huge replay value.
I had a blast playing it and you know what's even better?! They released a multiplayer mod for it, and it's FREE! The multiplayer is not yet bug-free, but it's still an amazing experience with tons of options and enjoyable chaos.
This game is well worth the money and I would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy GTA games.

Great for players like me who are going back to play Just Cause 2 just because Multiplayer has been added for free. The Chaos going around the towns is insane everyone will be exploding on one another cars colliding. Helicopters dog fighting.
Multiplayer is great with open world + multiplayer at the same time. What more could you want? Have 5 friends or more skydiving from high above the skies landing down to an explosion.
Single player itself is already great. Explosive Game play with good story line makes this game worth it. The character feels so awesome to begin with. Walking around like a boss and not giving a damn about anything. Crazy gun play and the variety makes it great
There is no time to read reviews just buy it while it's on sale. Trust me it's worth it. Multiplayer + single player epicness you don't have to question that.

Great graphics, tons of weapons, and this game has a massive map that could atleast equal to any GTA game out there. There are tons of vehicles to use including motorbikes, race cars, jets, choppers and the grappling hook makes a quick fun way to travel around the city. Knowing how to use the grappling hook and the parachute together makes you perform a lot of crazy stunts. With the release of the Just Cause 2 multiplayer, there is even more crazy fun to be had with servers containing up to 1000 people for massive crazy all out war.

JC2 has some beautiful graphics, even for a 2010 game. It's an open world sandbox game like GTA, but it adds 2 unique things to separate it: infinite parachutes and a Spiderman grapple that hooks on to anything and everything.
Experimenting in the game is half of the fun, and most of the achievements are encouraging you to experiment. For example, "wrecking ball" has you grapple a car to another car or helicopter and whack people with the attached car. That is as insane and hilarious as it sounds. The story & voice acting are cheesy, but that's forgivable. The real fun is messing around in the open world. There are lots of cars to drive, lots of ways to kill enemies, lots of things to do.
A recently added multiplayer mod for free adds hours of enjoyment to this game. Having 100 people adding to the insanity brings this game up a lot. Even watching youtube videos of people's best chaos is funny on its own.
This game goes cheap all the time and it's well worth the money. Pick it up, it's a very solid & unique open world sandbox game.
Great fun.Xpire | Dec. 19, 2013 | See all Xpire's reviews »
Having quite enjoyed its prequel, Just Cause, naturally I would give a shot at this game. I must say, it is better than the first. Being from the South East Asia, it is nice playing a game which is set in, well, South East Asia - though fictional.
First thing I want to say is the graphics. The graphics is decent but it is good for an open-world game back in 2010. But the graphics did not diminish the gameplay at all. The gameplay is great. The story is quite good, too. And if you just want to ignore the campaign and just go around killing and wrecking stuff, then by all means. It is great fun and quite over the top. The only downside is it can get quite repetitive, the story is good but not great, and some bugs & glitches here and there.
Overall, it is a solid game. It is definitely a must-play if you like games like the Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row series.

First, I just want to say that this game is fun. If you are looking for sophisticated themes or elegantly crafted plotlines or nuanced characters, get out. This game is in now way sophisticated or elegant or nuanced.
What this game is is fun.
Explosions, guns, and b-movie accents. In this game you can grapple a person to a plane as it takes off. You can cling to a propane take as it flies hundreds of feet into the air. You can take a car and spend hours exploring the massive sandbox. This game exists to be fun, and in that it succeeds.
PS There is mod that adds multiplayer to what is normally a single player game. The sheer level of chaos is staggering. Give it a try if you get this.
'True Lies', anyone?RobertBTipton | Dec. 13, 2013 | See all RobertBTipton's reviews »
This is a really cool game, if you like unrealistic, explosive third-person shooters. It’s kind of like GTA on steroids. The graphics are fantastic: really colourful, with lots of variety, and good animations. The storyline is pretty over-the-top, but that suits the nature of the game. Generally, the production values are all good, with solid audio rounding out the presentation. Since the game came out a while ago, it has had plenty of time for patching, and runs very well, on my system at least.
I also kind of like the political commentary – well, it’s not very subtle, but US foreign policy is shown here, albeit in action movie form... it reminded me of True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in terms of the ‘feel’ of the action set pieces. If you like the idea of playing a game with that sort of style, then you’ll probably enjoy this. I’m not giving it a perfect score, because although it’s quite good at what it tries to be, what it’s trying to be isn’t as fun, in my opinion, as some other really good games.
You're darn tootin' right I just grappled a plane.Argentum | Dec. 3, 2013 | See all Argentum's reviews »
Not entirely sure why darn tootin' was there but I sure as hell just grappled a plane. And it was awesome.
This game lacks in story and challenge, but it sure as hell makes up for it in just sheer awesomeness. Its not so much a realistic look at a mercenary left on a tropical island and more "you know I bet I could hijack that jumbo jet". To cap it off theres a mission set on top a strip club thats roams around the island on a blimp. Its a mission thats right at the end but that doesn't stop you grappling said jumbo and flying your crazy self all the way to the top of the map before crashing straight into the blimp and bailing out last second to tumble all the way back down.
Hell just saying that made me want to play it again. Brb.
Back. So this time, instead of flying to the blimp I took at look at the mechanics of the game, to be blunt the game has bugs, and a fair few of them. None drastic but they are there, the grapple isn't as perfect as it should be but once you get your head round the kinks you can do some crazy stuff with it. The gunplay and general combat is remarkable average and the difficulty never really changes.
But the world is something special, ram packed full of easter eggs and things to do, if you love the game you could spend as many hours in here as you do in a Bethesda world.
Somewhat lacking, somewhat great.

Just Cause 2 is an amazing game but fails in some ways. The game has a really huge map. The gameplay is simply amazing and enjoyable. The story isn't interesting, though, and the voice acting is very bad. Though the game is open-world, the freeroam isn't interesting at all, unlike GTA, Saints Row or Square Enix' own Sleeping Dogs. There are loads of missions to do, and the gameplay is fun. I love the grappling hook. The car handling is bad, though. The graphics are beautiful. The game is good, but it fails in many aspects, like driving physics, story, characters, etc. Nevertheless, the game remains very enjoyable due to the solid gameplay.
Just Cause 2 is a decent open world game with amazing gameplay but falls short a bit. A great game, though. I recommend to get it while it's on a good sale, though.

The Grand Theft Auto series is very good and a lot of fun, but sometimes it's good to not take things so seriously. Just Cause 2 is very good at this. You play Rico, a character with a physics defying, immensely satisfying grappling hook that can strap objects, vehicles and people together, as well as being useful for zipping around the game world. This is useful, as the map is enormous. Fortunately, there is also a fast travel system that you unlock fairly early on in the game, as well as a plethora of excellent vehicles, including many types of plane, car and helicopter. The campaign is hilariously cheesy with some of the worst voice acting ever, but this is not the focal point of the campaign, nor is it supposed to be taken seriously. The brilliant shooting, driving, flying, grappling and parachuting (with your infinite supply of parachutes) is an experience that is one of the most fun you can have in any game. There are hundreds of hours of fun here. Just download the demo and you'll understand. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone.

I enjoyed playing this game, yet it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The graphics are wonderful, there are hoards of quests and missions to do, the grappling hook is a wonderful tool to be introduced to...but I found myself almost bored with the tedious collectibles and effort it took to get between places. It's fun of course; blowing things up and being an overall suave-cat is very fun. But something was missing for me. Pity.

This has to be one of my games of the year for 2012, you will not be disappointed if you buy this I have logged over 48 hours according to my steam stats. 48 hours of some of the most memorable...beautiful....over the top...octane fuelled...grapple hooking...car roof riding...sky diving...exploding...gun mania.
This is a sandbox of epic proportions with an epic storyline, you can traverse the massive island(s) with planes, trucks, atv's, helicopters, fighter jets and...boats as you set about taking down the dictator of Panau.
There are also plenty of diversions, secret locations, hidden weapons and so on.
If there was one fault to this game I'd say it's repetitive, and they've cloned some buildings in the ginormous island however it's nothing to be worried about in the scope.
If you haven't played this game already....buy it already, you will not be disappointed. They're now beta'ing a multiplayer add-on for this game which is enhancing and extending the game.

Don't come to Just Cause 2 expecting the next Walking Dead or Bioshock Infinite. There is no grand political discussion on the merits or problems of violent rebellion against a tyrannical dictator. The game has no twists and turns that'll make you think deeply about the meaning of your life. What it does have is attacking a dictators elite ninjas in his underground dojo, blowing up oil rigs and riding nuclear missiles. This game is as close to a complete sandbox experience as you can get. The map is absurdly huge, measuring 40 square kilometres. This varies from sea to jungle to large cities to military bases to deserts to small towns to airports. You can get sports cars, fighter jets, gunboats, motorbikes, jumbo jets and even an ice cream truck. The grapple gives you a huge range of options including attaching to a propane tank to act as an impromptu jetpack. If you were looking for a game to mess around in and just have fun with, you could go a lot worse than Just Cause 2.

This is one of those games where the whole fun of it comes from not doing what suppose to do. Attach a officer to the back of your car? Sure! Going guns blazing into a army base? If that's your thing! Make a car with C4 blow up right next to a gas station? That's a rhetorical question!
If your looking for a good campaign though, this really doesn't have one. Well it does, but rather then being original. it mocks every other game's campaign which is alright, but meh. Regardless, the fact that you can free roam practically anywhere completely makes up for that completely.

A decent game, though the gameplay is pretty repetitive and the story is pretty blend, the possibilities the grapling hook offers are almost limitless.
Combine this with an enormous open world and you have a great game that really is a sandbox.
Nothin is more fun to be chased by the army, hook on to a tank, open your parachute, fly around, hook on to an attacking army chopper, capture it and rain down hell on your chasers.
Overall decent game but the addition of the grappling hook makes this a great game. However don't expect other innovations, great story or realism. (this game offers the fun you missed in GTA4)

Just cause 2 can be considered one of the best Sandbox game ever! With a massively beautiful huge world, you will find yourself spending time exploring the world. Messing around with vehicles and blasting everything in your way or even hooking things up. The mission (except the stronghold missions which are repetitive) available throughout the game is exceptionally entertaining; Missions such as stopping a nightclub in the sky from blowing up and defending a large drug silo while the military sends waves of enemies after you. Overall, Just cause 2 provides many many hours of immersing gameplay that will keep you up into the wee hours of the morning blowing things up and messing around. Just Cause 2 is definitely worth getting at such low price

This game knows what it wants to do and does it really damned well.
Deep, meaningful storytelling? "Pah!" says this game. Heartfelt character development? "Not on your life!" But fun? "Oh, oodles of it!"
Just Cause 2 truly encapsulates the idea of a sandbox: a large (albeit defined) space in which to do as you please, when you please, with whatever you please.
The only area in which it lets itself down is its inability to stay fresh. It has been my experience that this game is best enjoyed in bursts, as it can otherwise begin to feel stale. The missions lack significant diversity, and attempting to collect all there is to collect can become very "rinse and repeat".
So pick it up, have a blast, then leave it for a while; you can't have ice cream for every meal.

Super fun sandbox but could be kind of boring if you're not creative. Tons of fun though! Wait for a sale, I've seen it go to 3.00 on steam before

This game's story is fun, and campy as hell. Right down to the corny writing and hilarious acting.
That said, this game's real fun has nothing to do with missions. No, it's all about using your insane grappling hook, mysteriously unlimited parachutes, and the game's multitude of vehicles to adventure across the enormous island of Panau and blow the hell out of anything and everything. And get paid to do it.
If you enjoy games that are heavy on exploration with quirky combat mechanics (you could gun people down, but wouldn't you rather pin somebody to the roof with a grappling hook then pinata them to death? Or maybe just crash a jet into their face?), and tons and TONS of explosions, there's hours of fun to be had with JC2. Increase those hours by finding any of the TONS of mods this game's community has put out.
Be warned, though. If you're looking for a standard shooter that guides you through a compelling story, you may not like this one, so keep your prefer playstyle in mind before making a purchase.

Just Cause 2 is what you'd get if you combined Grand Theft Auto with a huge island, faster gameplay and a parachute. The game stars Rico Rodriguez, an operative for a group called "The Agency" (probably the one from Hitman) as he goes to the island of Panau to blow things up mostly.
Gameplay is great and open world and the island really is massive and flying by jet is the only real way of getting somewhere quickly. Graphics are gorgeous but voice acting and story is kinda meh. The reason to play this is for the fun in playing and not for it's storytelling. It has minor issues like ammo being gone too quickly but it's still one of the best open world games ever. Better than GTA IV even.

A giant tropical island playground of immense possibilities is what's in store for the adventurous player who delves into this game. Here is an example of what can happen while playing. Jet surfing up high in the sky, base jumping off jet plummeting at record speeds towards the ocean below, pull parachute milliseconds before contact with ground, float for a while, see helicopter passing by, grapple to helicopter and hijack it, go to military base and cause havoc with twin missile launchers and rail gun, bail damaged helicopter, C4 car, drive car in the middle of a group of bad guys, ditch car, wait for right moment, blow up C4 and loads of enemies. This is just a taste of what one can do in this open world game. There are loads of things to do from racing, item collecting, and full on destruction. This is a game for those who just want to have fun.

No bowling or driving Character X from one side of the map to the other in Just Cause 2! No, sir. This is the most fun you'll have with an open world game to date.

A good, fun game, with some mods that make it even better. However it can get a bit repetitive after a while, particularly causing chaos, a key part of the game, as it is very similar regardless of the location. The map is very large and will take a long time to travel across unless you take a jet and then it still takes a few minutes. The graphics are good and it is very pleasant looking out over the island when the sun is setting. The game does look much better on this grand scale however, closer up things aren’t as polished and what few cities there are lack any real detail. The storyline is passable rather than memorable and the voice acting is poor but this is a game for fun gameplay and messing around in and can be picked up cheap.

Graphics: Good graphics, nothing next gen, but the landscape views are fantastic. Sound: Good explosions, vehicle and gun sounds. But the voice acting is lacking emotion, you can hear what the characters are saying but I was not absorbed into the story. Reliability: Some crash to desktop errors, but still worth playing as long as you save often. Replay Value: Fantastic, this game will keep you hooked (pun intended) for a long time, there is so much stuff to destroy and have fun with. Story: Not exactly gripping stuff, but a nice glue to bind the other elements of the game together. Gameplay: Utterly Mind-blowing, fantastic gameplay. A way to describe it might be like GTA, but bigger and more of an emphasis on mobility. I thought the grappling hook would be a gimmick but I find myself using it not just because it looks cool, but because it's genuinely useful.

I had only purchased this game for a few bucks so I shouldn't be complaining to much here. The game is ok , its got a large map and a pretty good idea but it falls rather flat in my opinion. The game has a couple vehicles and some air crafts but there really isn't much to do in this game. I had heard great things but I felt very bored while playing it after an hour or so. The map albeit a big map, feels very empty and a lot is not going on in the world which pulls you out of it. The gun mechanics are decent enough, rather serviceable but it takes too many hits to take out enemies not to mention the auto lock can get annoying. One feature that I did find rather good was the grappling hook, you can lock on to virtually anything and propel yourself with speed and pull out a parachute . It can be rather fun catching yourself on a car, standing on top of it and connecting to another car and pull out your parachute. Its a solid game but don't expect something amazing.

When I got my laptop that can run this game I was very happy and bought the game when I had the chance. It never failed me. You can do almost anything in this game. You'll be able to go to any place as long as you can see it. ANYWHERE! What you saw in the video is nothing when you are the one playing it. The experience is great. It's pretty polished and optimized on PC too (better optimized than GTA IV to be honest). Get this game or bundles that includes this game at a cheaper price. But this game is just $15 when not on sale. Come on! Just buy it.

The games is fun, in the same genre as GTA. I did not notice too many glitches in the game-play, but the cut scenes have some problems with the sound effects cutting out. Even more annoying is the fact that all of the cut scenes have broken lip-sync, it is just off enough to be annoying. It can also take some time to get used to the feel of the controls.
That being said, the game does have a lot of good game-play ideas, especially the grappling hook which is almost as cool as playing as Spider-man. The game has a large open-world, and good graphics.
The game has a lot of good concepts, I just wish it was a little more polished. The game has a good demo, so I would highly recommend giving that a try, and then you can see if you have the same problems I did.

Just Cause 2 provides a huge open world filled with things for you to destroy. While there is a story campaign, the missions aren't all that great and it is fairly short (though the dialogue and story are are great in a cheesy action movie parody kind of way.) JC2 is at it's best when you are out exploring the beautiful island. You can spend hours just driving around touring the island. Of course there is a lot of stuff to destroy and the explosions are pure satisfaction. The grappling hook allows for all manner of creative stunts and attacks. The weapon selection is a bit scarce though (more weapons are available through DLC). Very nice visuals that still hold up in 2013.

Unique 3rd person shooting with open world. This game does have a fun time for running shooting and gliding with parachute experience.
Protagonist can fly by himself by using his sling¶chute. Climbing and shooting almost anywhere, you can travel by using people's car ceiling, chopper. There's nothing that this man can't do :D
Difficulty not too hard, I played with hard but still completed the game without much trouble. Once you know how to control everything, it's start to get serious fun.
Bad sides, this game have too many collectible things, if you aim for a 100% completion, this could take you 3 months with proper guides.
The game has bug and glitch would sometime prevent you to complete the game or get 100% completion, if you overwrite the save, BAM!! done.
Missions and side missions too repetitive (even it's fun, sometime it's get boring). Take down faction at first it's fun. After 100th base, you're gonna boring.
I still like this game, this game help me decide to upgrade my Windows XP to 7. Because it's use directx 10 only, beware.

Rico is back. He must to do a bigger work on a bigger island full of dangerous elements. This Rico is a real action-hero. The enemies are dangerous, but Rico is a one-man army. He is unstopable, indestructible and harsh. Everything is better than the first game, the driving, the shooting, the graphics, the sound, i really liked Rico's voiceactor. The game provides many challanges, side questions, mini-game, and muc more. Rico has a new "toy", a grappling hook. His parachute remained ofcourse. The grappling hook is a fun tool. You can attach two objects to each other. It is a very funny experience, when you attach an enemy soldier to a sweeping car.
So, if you buy this game, you gave an awsome action-packed open world TPS. Not better than GTA, it hasn't got the same experiece, but a pretty good game.

Like a lot of the other reviewers, I just found the game plain and pure fun. The game revolves around taking down a dictator that doesn't "want to play ball" with the United States, so naturally you're tasked with destabilizing the government and overthrowing the current president. I would like to summarize the gameplay as being a mix between Grand Theft Auto, Far Cry, and a Spiderman game (this will become very, very clear if you decide to play the game).
The story is short, simple, and not very incredible, but it works. The gameplay is solid and fun, but it does become slightly tiresome after a while if you try to go for 100% completion, but there's always ways you can shake up gameplay. Completing bases and settlements can be done by destroying key structures and/or collecting crates scattered around, but I usually felt like the crate collection really screwed with the pacing of gameplay. For example, I would almost complete a base (which would cause enemies to stop spawning), but I would always miss one crate which would cause me to have to roam around the base several times until I finally found it, which I just disliked a lot.
There are some very cool, unique locations scattered around Panau (the country you're tasked to overthrow), but most of the locations are a bit dull and unremarkable, but considering the scale of Just Cause 2's map, it does make a lot of sense that not every town is going to be memorable. Cars handle a bit meh and it's easy to spin out sometimes, but other than that vehicles are quite fun to drive and pilot about.
What really makes this game shine is a mod that is set to come out called Just Cause 2 Multiplayer, which basically just adds multiplayer to Just Cause 2. It has public betas with thousands of people on at any one time, and it makes Just Cause 2 that much better. There are other mods you can use for this game as well, too, so that is also a huge boon.
I would definitely recommend this game.

Everything you know about controlling vehicles in games goes completely out of the window in Just Cause 2. Mainly for the fact you can hang out of a helicopter, whilst keeping it stationary in the air! Everything a sandbox game needs is included in this game, and is a great way to bare the wait for GTA V and Saints Row IV. The story is rather long too, especially if you like to go hunting for collectibles, or scouting for weapon upgrades - it's over the top, on par with Saints Row 3's mayhem. It really is amazing.

Just Cause 2 stars Rico Rodriquez, back to wreak havoc once again, this time with a new destination -- the huge playground of the South East Asian islands of Panau. The sequel features more stunts, vehicles and weapons than ever before and an incredible overhauled grappling hook system. Panau itself is an incredibly detailed and vast 1000 sq km game world of different climates and ultra-realistic weather effects. Leap from your plane and skydive from 10,000 feet down into a tropical jungle, tear across an arid desert in a dune buggy or climb your way up a snowy mountain in a 4x4. Okay, if you are looking for Bioshock deep story or Max Payne fleshed out gunplay, you are looking at the wrong game, but if you are looking for a game that is nothing but fun, there is no game I can say is better.
Centered around taking down a corrupt dictator, this game's story rivals those of cheap 80s action flicks like Commando, Braddock or Tango and Cash, but even though it is forgettable, the story plays out in a fun and enjoyable way.
The reason I gave this game a high rating was because of the fluidity of the gameplay itself. With the help of your trusty grappling hook, Rico Rodriguez can latch from buildings to cars, or latch cars to buildings. This creates an overall chaotic and fun gameplay, and when certain actions happen in such a fluid way, one may find themselves feeling accomplished to a degree.
On top of the SP, the mods such as those that modify weapons, turn the game into a sandbox f awesome that can keep you entertained for hours at a time. Also, the MP mod being built for this game takes all the fun of SP and ads your friends to the mix.
Usually this game goes on sale for dirt cheap, and with everything you get, your practically STEALING from the developers. This game will not disappoint.

This game, offers alot of different thrills, whether you wish to cause havoc or just enjoy one of the most beautiful islands made in gaming. The game is set on a group of islands, that is Panau. your objective as a hardcore agent with no fears and a terrible accent, is to cause enough chaos in order to gain acces to even more chaos-causing, car-chasing, nuclear-damaging fun! Not only is the game action packed and fun in the means of destruction, but it is by far one of the most colorful games and the one with the most diversety in climate i have played. The equipment that you carry around gives you plenty of opportunity to explore the island with your parachute, (or just to hang your enemies from the roofs of great casinos) and your black market dealer will provide you with what extra "power" you might need, but sometimes a red barrel and a grappling hook is more than enough. -10 points, just because the story is a little thin.

Just Cause 2 is insane in the best ways possible. If you've enjoyed messing around in open world areas in games such as GTA or Saint's Row, you should be playing this. There is a loose story tying everything together, but that's not important. What's important is that you can fly around and parachute out of a jet, grapple your way forward along the ground like a drunk Spiderman, and blow everything up. This is an open world sandbox dream.

I cannot express the amount of fun I had with this game, and that's just from messing around and not even touching the main missions!
The grappling hook and parachute are what define this game and make it as great as it is. Grappling pursuing enemy jeeps to bridge supports and watching them veer off over the edge and into the water is SO satisfying, as is shooting out the tires of said vehicles and watching them barrel roll on the pavement and blow up. This is carnage at its most entertaining.
I paid full price for this game upon its original release and I regret nothing, I definitely got my money's worth from Just Cause 2, and I still find myself going back to it from time and time just to cause a little havoc and see what new ways I can utilize the grappling hook! I couldn't stop laughing when I grappled an enemy to a propane tank, and shot the propane tank and watched them both take off like a jet.
If you love carnage, if you love explosions, if you love open world shooters, then this is the game you so desperately need!

Just Cause 2 is one of the most fun games there is. The story is very cliche and just bad basically and has very bad voice acting. This isn't the focus here though as they just pile on all the fun gameplay with some destructible environments. The grappling hook and parachute are so much fun to use as they just give you a completely new way to travel through the massive game world. The world has a bunch of different biomes like snow, desert, forest and city (the city areas could have been bigger) and they are all quite boring and don't provide you with things to do except from blowing up statues and grappling about. The game is really really good still because there are so many vehicles like tanks, sports cars, helicopters and jets (lots of guns on them) which are really fun as you can do a stunt jump on every vehicle (you jump out on top of the vehicle). This game has some flaws but is just so much fun! It's really cheap now so you have no excuse to buy it.

This is how the real open world game should look like. Great graphics with amazing explosions. Beatiful and large island to explore with a lot of things to do. In this game just, climbing the mountains with the best open-world game feature the hook is incredibly funny. Ok, maybe the story is pretty silly and a little bit boring, but it isn't the thing that this game stands on. Amount of vehicles like cars, racing or fishing boats or even the airplanes makes the game twice entertaining as Mafia II for example. You wish to land on airplane and fly to another city, go and do it. The game isn't just worth to try, it's worth to play for hours of causing chaos everywhere you come.
And the multiplayer is on the way !
Well 84 is satisfying i think.

Not sure what to expect with Just Cause 2? Just look to any Jean-Claude Van Damme or Arnold Schwarzenegger film from the 80s and 90s in which they tour the country taking down corrupt officials and blowing up half the country and you've got it pretty much in a nutshell.
The graphics in this game are decent for their time, nothing spectacular but they certainly allow you to imagine yourself in Rico's world of fast vehicles and explosive weaponry.
The control mapping on a keyboard and mouse are standard and do not feel alien to anyone who plays FPS games on a PC. This games real strength though is the controller support. The standard controller mapping of button actions is superb and it easily allows you to pull off devastating precision while you take out leagues of enemies. Parachuting, driving, flying, aiming and grappling are all designed to work in a manner that keeps you feeling in control of any situation and allows you to tackle encounters however you prefer to. With the ability to cargo drop weapons, vehicles, and extract yourself from hairy situations, this game has it all in terms of giving the player choices.
The voice acting for some of the southern Asian persons can be a little jarring at times because it is used strongly but it doesn't detract from what the game sets out to accomplish. As for the rest of the cast, they are believable and witty.
As for the game narrative itself, the story isn't overly deep or gripping, but it doesn't aim to be, this is a game about daring entrances and causing as much chaos around the island as possible. The island is enormous and once the main arc of the game is completed, which should take anywhere from between 25-40 hours, you can continue to wreak havoc taking out the remaining bases and searching the villages for any missed loot. 100% completing this game would take considerably longer than the main arc.
This game is worth the purchase and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves open world first person shooters or anyone who is a fan of high-octane action!

Just Cause 2 is the rare case of a game that manages to be truly fun based on it's own gameplay. Many games rely on multiplayer and playing with mates to have a great time, but on this game you just hop in and put a smile on your face. You play as an agent on a massive set of islands (by far the largest open world I've ever experienced), and your goal is to blow up everything. That's right - you just shoot, demolish, drive into, fly into and destroy anything you see. Did I mention that you swing around with a parachute and grappling hook, which can also be used to throw enemies around or attach them to objects. Just Cause 2 is outrageous, mindless fun in one of the biggest sandbox worlds there is.

This game is the most entertaining game I have played in a long time. Just Cause 2 throws you into a complete sandbox world where you can do almost anything you want.
The core game can feel a little lackluster as far as story goes in the campaign and the missions are quite typical and can seem repetitive but you will never do the same thing twice. When you have to escort a group of rebels into a military base you can literally do what ever you want. If you want to try to take a tactical approach taking out small amounts of guards at a time you can however, if you want to just straight into the middle of the base with a rocket launcher and blow up every thing that will explode that is in your sight you can do that too.
Just Cause 2 also has many secret areas and places that will always satisfy your thirst for adventure. The vehicles control very well and are responsive and will get you to where ever you need to go very quickly.
The graphics in the game are phenomenal. Just Cause 2 delivers state of the art graphics with out being on the highest settings. The sound is of decent quality but hey, you just blew up a giant military tanker in your helicopter that you are flying to a giant air ship with a non-stop party on it. Yea, Just Cause 2 has that.
All around Just Cause 2 is a fantastic game and will give anyone hours of fun. After your hours of fun you can easily go and find some mods to either make your experience more enjoyable or more hilarious. Also in the works is a multi-player mod that has been in the works for a long time and will more than likely come out in the near future.

Just Cause 2 is a unique game, many of you might ask how is this game unique ? well its pretty easy, all you need to do in this game is to cause CHAOS EVERYWHERE and when I say everywhere it means EVERYWHERE. the best part of this game is the gameplay which is just plain fun and destructive, you can do whatever you feel like to do while you cause chaos. the story is... shit seriously you won't even bother about the story or the main missions. the graphics are splendid and the bugs are just damn funny and hilarious. There is also a beta multiplayer which is by the way AMAZING. so what are you waiting for ? buy this game and create CHAOS !!!

Try the demo for this game. It is a good taste of the full game. I was hooked by the demo. This game is a sandbox of destruction and mayhem. The story is zany in a good way (don't take it seriously). The gunplay thankfully has a little bit of aim-assist to help out (not sure if you can turn this off?) There are some frustrating sequences near the end (on normal difficulty) but the game is fun enough to keep trying. This game won't please everyone (try the demo) but if you like it, you can spend 30+ hours playing around. Annoyance: the never ending enemy reinforcements. The engine is top-tier. This game has a certain indefinable "fun factor" that kept me playing to completion. Plus there is a multiplayer mod in the works so keep that in mind as well.

This game is one of the few truly open world games. If you can see it, you can go there. Not to mention the world is absolutely incredible and beautiful.
I love climbing up the mountains in the world and just looking around at the environment.
Although this game has a main story, you can take your time to go between missions and spend time exploring. Your grapple and parachute aid in your exploration. There are no invisible walls (as far as I know), so you can quite literally go anywhere and do anything.

You know those really cool action movies when everything seems to be coated in a fine layer of explosive substance, so whenever someone slightly nudges something, the whole scenery explodes into oblivion?
This is exactly that, but better. Having one of the biggest maps ever in a video game(just over 1000km2), with places like huge deserts, snowy mountains, tropical swamps and forests, and even 4 big central cities, Just Cause 2 brings tons of diversity to the game.
Ever dreamt of tying a car to a plane, having it take off with you in it, then getting out on top of the car and jumping on the plane, all in mid air, while shooting at attacking helicopters with a rocket launcher? Well, that's completely possible in this game.
The story isn't outstanding, but frankly, you shouldn't care, since the gameplay features compensate for it.
The best part about the whole game is the ability to mod it with a surprising ease. Just paste a couple of files into your game directory, and there you go. Naturally, an amazing game has amazing mods so be sure to try some of them out. Soon enough you'll be able to take off anytime you want, just like a super hero, instantly shoot hundreds of rockets that explode into nuclear mushrooms, and blow cars sky high with your (modded) air propulsion gun.
I strongly recommend this game. You'll be getting dozens, maybe hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it(I know I did). The DLC is also worth the price, at least for the most part.

One of the best sandbox games to date, containing all of the action and silliness that the Grand Theft Auto series lacks, yet missing the depth and world involvement that Grand Theft Auto provides. While the world in Just Cause 2 is certainly full and lively, the NPCs hardly interact with one another unless you intervene, making it feel incredibly empty. Sometimes the military seems to have psychic powers and knows exactly where you are every second of the day, which can become quite frustrating. The AI is predictable and you'll manage to figure out what most enemies entail in a few hours.
Pick up the Black Market Aerial Pack DLC while you're at it, nothing beats a parachute and jetpack combination as a mode of transportation. It also comes with a multi-lock rocket launcher. Nothing like reigning hell from the skies.
Make sure you check out some of the mods at justcause2mods.com. Some of them are really great, especially the ones that remove the tedious black market cutscenes.

This game is truly an excellent sandbox game. There are so many options and the amount of havoc and destruction you can cause is literally endless. The story is fairly decent for a open world sandbox game, but won't blow your socks off "The Last of Us" or "Bioshock" style. It gets the job done. The missions are fairly straightforward, albeit a tad repetitive at some points. Despite this, you can approach them in literally ANY way you can think of, and that is where the true fun comes in.
I would definitely say buy this game if you are looking for an open sandbox game. If you liked Saint's Row or GTA, pick this up. If you are thinking about trying out a sandbox game for the first time, PICK THIS UP. For the price, it is an excellent game.
The feeling of being able to skydive off of anything is awesome. Plus, the grapple hook you have can make for some hilarious situations/kills. Finally, you can pick this up and get the multiplayer mod that is being worked on right now. I haven't played it, but from what I understand, it leads to endless hilarity.

I'm a fan of this open world type games where you can pretty much do what ever you want. I usually spend an insane amount of time just exploring and doing crazy stuff and with this game that's what you get. In terms of story it's not much, your typical quests: bring me this, escort that person, eliminate that etc. However where the game truly shines it's in the open world. Stunts like jumping on cars, hijacking planes and helicopters an array of weapons at your disposal and one huge map for you to roam will keep you busy for a long time. It is also a good looking game despite not being a recent release.
Truly Open Worldbwrussell | July 2, 2013 | See all bwrussell's reviews »
Most open-world games should start having to use the term open-city because one of the most striking things about this game is the size of the world. It is absolutely HUGE. You really feel like you are on a small island nation because scale wise you literally are. A quick cruise around this world will quickly reveal the second selling point for this game. It is absolutely stunning. Just drop dead gorgeous. You have to see it to truly grasp it.
Once you're set free in this jungle hot box you really are set free. You don't have to progress any further in the somewhat bland and repetitive story and can instead spend the rest of your days blowing everything to pieces.
The final real stand-out feature of this game is the ease and support for modding. There is a robust modding scene with some really great mods that do everything from fix annoyances to turn you into superman. Probably the most intriguing mod is the currently in-work multiplayer mod which, even in it's semi-closed beta state allows well over a thousand players to play on the same map at one time. That is not a typo so keep an eye out for that at some point in the future.
All-in-all this is a must play for open-world fans always and a no-brainier for everyone when on sale.

Just Cause 2 is not just a free roaming, but there are massive doses of and action where the player has a complete freedom of movement. There are several characteristics that distinguish Just Cause 2 from similar titles. The grapple is the most obvious and takes Rico for almost more important than the weapons that embraces. It can be used in many ways, both in terms of offensive and defensive. The island is full of hundreds of government installations; razing everything will increase the level of Chaos which over time will unlock new weapons and vehicles but also new missions, major and minor. The mix of free-roaming and action manages to entertain the player from start to finish, with zero downtime, and dozens of things to do, thanks to the clever system of progression. On the whole, however, stands the island of Panau the true protagonist of the game, pretty impressive for its vastness and very beautiful to look.

The feeling of "flying" down the sky after jumping out from plane and opening a parachute just few meters from ground is just amazing. In this game you can go everywhere on a giant island and do whatever you want, and destroy whatever you want. Storyline isn't very good and that game is not very realistic. But this game is not about realistics it's about freedom. And a bad storyline is compensate by this freedom. If you like that kind of games you must play it.

This is my second favorite open world sandbox game, and I've played a lot of games in that genre. The map in this game was the largest in a game when it came out and all of that map was beautiful. The jungles are lush and vibrant, the cities are bright, large and blooming with life. This is the first game I've watched the sunset over the jungle, it was that nice. The story is pretty good and there are about 7 missions. But here's the catch, to progress you must reach a certain level of chaos. You get chaos by doing faction missions, side missions, taking over areas etc. The amount of chaos to unlock the next story mission is quite a bit and will take a long time to get. The combat in this game is amazing, especially because of the grappling hook. You can tie enemies to objects, pull them toward you etc. And yes, you can hook them to your car and drive away. The soundtrack and sound effects work perfectly with the game. For $15, this is a must have steam game.

Just Cause 2 is a fun game with an UNBELIEVABLY expansive world with little-no wait caused by loading times. There are plenty of guns and vehicles to keep you occupied for quite some time.
In most games, you complete quests to unlock new quests. One of the main features in this game is that you must murder and cause general destruction AS WELL as complete quests to unlock new quests. It's very interesting and a good way for a game to encourage you to do what you were probably going to do anyway.
The quests do get a bit repetitive (go destroy this place, go murder all of our enemies here, escort this NPC to such-and-such), but it's a good action game.

People who like the gta series of games will love this as is along the same lines as it but also has a lot of different features. One of my favourites is the grapple and the quick and cool travel is gives the player and how it works seamlessly with the parachute for long distance travelling. The black market is also a very nice feature as it allows you to get equipment quickly and easily without having to fiddle with cheats or search for ages trying to find a shop to get it from. Overall I think it is a great free roam game that will appeal to many people as you can either play through the story and different gang quests or simply just mess around playing around with no real objective and just having some fun.

If you're looking for an alternate game similar to GTA, this is the game for you. The game is action packed with all the car stealing with fast paced shooting and grappling hook action. There really aren't many games that allow you to explore an entire island by hooking onto the wing of a plane flown by an NPC. That being said, there isn't much else to offer. The missions get old pretty quick (though there are some pretty exciting ones later) and you'll find yourself escorting dumb NPCs from point A to point B time and time again. You might find yourself getting bored once the action wears off, but its still a pretty decent experience. I also recommend playing a controller not the keyboard.

As a fan of sandbox games, Just Cause 2 is one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure to play. Having a large open environment where the protagonists can travel to different islands with a large array of vehicles, countless guns and oh... a grappling hook, for a sandbox fan, seems perfect. There are countless things one can do in this game whether that be latch yourself onto an enemy helicopter and dangle there while you take out infantry units or hook an innocent civilian onto a scooter and go for a nice evening drive, Just Cause 2 has something for everyone.and will provide you with countless hours of fun. The only reason it isn't a perfect 100 is that the story line is mediocre, at best, and the only thing I truly liked about it was deciding which faction you would end up working for. However I did not lower the score to much because of it this...well...because it's a sandbox game. If you are a sand box fan, get it. Otherwise, get it. Also I would like to add that if you have played GTA: San Andreas before and loved it, you will definitely love this.

Just Cause 2 is the game that I seem to keep coming back to month after month. It has been on my PC from the day it came out and is always a game I turn to when looking to pass some time. Grappling hook. 'nuff said.Harbinger_87 | May 24, 2013 | See all Harbinger_87's reviews »
"Just Cause 2" includes a grappling hook. That is all you need to know. Seriously, take that feature away and you have an okay but derivative open world adventure where chaos reigns supreme. You shoot bad guys, you blow up stuff and you're constantly encouraged to continue messing around, because that's how you advance in the game, opening new story missions by creating mayhem. The story is short and turns out pretty lousy in the end and the missions aren't that involving or creative, especially not the side-missions you stumble upon at every turn. But the biggest problem is that the environments aren't really that great. Okay, there's jungle, desert, some snowy mountainslopes and even a giant city, but not one of those environments has even the least bit of personality. It's not exciting, it's just there. What IS exciting is the grappling hook. You can shoot it at almost anything, propel yourself towards your target or just stick one thing to another (like a badguy to the ceiling or the rear-bumper of your car while your driving towards a field of cactusses) and this never gets old. What makes it even better is the fact that the whole fluid grappling-hook-parachute-gameplay works out so fluid and smooth that the generic environments aren't that bad anymore. It's not a boring jungle anymore, it's a playground, an obstacle-course you wildly swing, float, drive, run and fly through and it is constantly a blast. So if messing around is the thing you like most about open world games, you can't fail with "Just Cause 2". It has so many opportunities to just lose yourself in the chaos you create, that even the subpar story and boring missions can't really bog this game down.

Sandbox games are great for the freedom they give you. So why play JC2 instead of any other? It takes place on a dictator-controlled island in the Pacific, where you are tasked with overthrowing the government. There's lots to do in that regard. You get rewarded for destroying military infrastructure and causing chaos in general. One really great feature in this game is you get a grappling hook and a parachute. You can hook cars together to crash them, glide around the large island, and climb buildings with ease. It's pretty fun to just goof of and not even worry about the plot. Currently, there's a mod in development to play online with hundreds of people. I've played with over 1000 and the chaos and mayhem is outstanding. Worth getting the game just for that, but on it's own it is pretty fun too.

A sandbox in the truest sense of the word, Just Cause 2 allows us, through the avatar of Rico, to ignore structure and reality for as long as we desire, for the purpose of creating complete destruction. In fact, the way to progress through the game is just that - destroy stuff, raise a Chaos meter and unlock further content and zones. The grappling hook and parachute mechanics are masterfully executed, making it a snap to jump out of an airplane and latch on to a tuk-tuk before hitting the ground! There's also a tongue-in-cheek story which thankfully doesn't take itself the least bit seriously. Think 1980's standard over-the-top fare! Definitely not the key focus, though. Recommended for everyone who likes fun.

I picked up this game on a sale impulse buy. I had seen my friends play about half an hour of it and was not impressed, a lot of the stuff you could do looked over the top and stupid. But after playing I found guilty pleasure in the over-the-top parachuting, ass kicking, and grappling. The environment was something I did enjoy quite a lot, the beautiful graphics combined with the setting, think Cuba combined with North Korea was very pleasing. The vehicle driving is implemented very nicely as well. If you don't mind stunts that are totally unrealistic, a mediocre story (Most cinematic are skippable though) and a massive free roam expanse filled with explosions, gunfire and god knows what else, this is the game for you.

Utterly enjoyable. Gameplay is so much fun, when you get the hang of it. Jumping around with your grapplehook and parachuting from tree to tree to avoid gunfire is just one of the many aspects of this game that makes it awesome.
It is true it gets repetitive and the sensation of the copy paste brush gets on to you after some hours, but it is without a doubt a fun game. as a game should be.
One note: I did go buy an Xbox360 controller because that is the only controller this game recognizes. So, I used the controller for driving and flying and the mouse/keyboard for running around/fighting and parachuting! I can hardy wait until Just Cause 3 comes out...

Just Cause 2 is the game where you cannot play without having fun. The game developers appear to have put gameplay mechanics over any other element of the game and they can only be applauded for that, seeing as they have succeeded in creating a great game.
You play as Rico Rodriguez, the same protagonist as the first game, and you're being sent to an island where you have to kill somebody. The story does indeed have some twists and turns but compared to the gameplay, it just seems sour and forgettable.
The setting takes place in an archipelago and you have various zones you can explore. The major elements of the game are decent at often times however, the fun lies in the destruction you can cause, and with the endless zones, you are provided with tens of hours of fun at your disposal. This game does not fail in delivering what was intended, fun. You cannot go wrong with this.

I jumped onto the bandwagon quite late since just cause 3 is rumoured to be released this year but for those still pondering on whether to pick this up, just do it! I've never played the first just cause but I did not find this essential to enjoy the sequel as i did not encounter much reference to the original.
The game revolves around the main character (rico rodriquez), typical latin macho man (imagine a modern gun toting zorro) flown in to this cluster of islands as a US secret agent investigating the murder of the president by his own son. On arrival your task is to infiltrate the three gangs on the islands by creating as much havoc as you can and this includes literally blowing up everything as you wade your way through beautiful island scenery with explosions in the background (cool guys dont look at explosions).
The islands are HUGE and you are able to explore each and every nook and cranny on almost every vehicle you can think off. This game truly is the style of game where they throw you into the world and you can do whatever you want and the game actually rewards you for doing it! blowing up the government facilities gets you money and discovering new areas also brings reward.
The arsenal of guns in this game is a good variation from revolvers to submachine guns all the way to rocket launchers. It's a shame no melee weapons were available and the only melee option you have is by whiplashing the wire of your grappling hook onto your enemies. Oh and the grappling hook; best item in the game! and it's awesome how the game gives you this at the very beginning. It takes a bit to get used to it but once you're accustomed; you'll be hanging enemies on ceilings and whipping them like pinatas (and yes you're rewarded for that too!)
All in all the game is like what grand theft auto used to be before it became serious but times 10! Crazier, more fun, and LOTS to do. I finished the campaign for this game at around 17 hours with only 30% completion! Once you finish the game, it allows you to enter mercenary mode where you can finish off wrecking the government facilities and finishing the side missions. A definite must buy!

Rico Rodriguez is back, in a massively improved and explosive sequel, this time being plunged into the Island of Panau and has the whole island under his dictatorship!
Causing Chaos is what the aim of the game is here, the more things you destroy with a star on it (Government items) the more chaos you raise, and the more missions you gain access to.
An addition to this game is Rico's new and fancy grappling hook, that can allow you to kill enemies in a fairly extensive and creative array of kills, such as stringing them up and beating them to death with it, tying them vehicles and watch them being dragged along the road, and other sick ways to end them. Pretty harsh for such a colorful game!
The same as the first game, you still have your magical parachute that spawns out of your back if you're more than a few feet off the ground and disappears again as quick as it appeared, this combined with the grappling hook proves for an excellent and quick form of travel.
The story in this game is pretty pants, but the game play makes you forget the terrible story, although the shooting can be a little wonky, that is forgivable. All in all, it's an amazingly fun game, and definitely worth your time.

This game is just a lot of fun to play. I cant put my finger on exactly what it is that makes this game so great. Perhaps its the fact that you can take a helicopter up into the air and skydive out of it. Perhaps its the fact that you can scale a skyscraper. I dont know, but for some reason its fun to play. The third person gameplay isnt great. The gun shooting mechanics take a little bit of getting used to, but once you have the hang of it, and with the aiming help provided in the game, youll soon be taking over bases in no time. The graphics while no longer great, still hold up very well over time, and at times in the game I would just take a plane and fly around simply to soak in the beauty of the island. The story is pretty good and has you taking down a maniacal dictator who killed his father, which is more absurd than its sounds in the game, but that just makes it even more fun to play. The progression system is intelligently done, in that the more stuff you blow up and people you kill, the closer you'll get to the next main mission, which forces you to do side missions and destroy every last piece of government property you see. Though it should be notes that I never felt forced to do any of these things, I did it simply because I enjoyed it immensely.

I could tell a joke about the name. But it's obviously been done before, so we'll put that behind us. Just Cause 2 is definitely one of those guilty pleasure games where you enjoy conspiracies and blowing stuff up. In fact, the whole point of the game is to destroy the infrastructure, take down facilities, and create instability. Rico is a fun character to play as, but I can't help but wonder where he stores all his parachutes, especially considering he can just grapple into the ground when in range and not have a scratch on him. The game breaks physics in so many ways, but that's the fun of it. This game is not made to be played seriously. It's meant to be enjoyed and to have some utter explosive fun. Wanna grapple a government solder from a rooftop to your chopper and dangle him? You can do that. Wanna send him into the sky with a gas canister (the tubular kind)? You can do it as well. Like I stated, the physics engine is completely broken and it's fun to abuse it. The game is also easy to mod, so enjoy.

This game is magnificent. The varied settings, gameplay, and tons of contents is really the stars in this game. The story is dry, but then again, this is a sandbox game with no intention to create a compelling story. There's just so much things to do in this game, and it's so over the top that every minute playing Just Cause 2 is enjoyable. Buy this game and do yourself a great service.

Just Cause 2 gets the most important thing about a game right: fun. JC2 is just fun to play and to any game it's important, more important than good story or graphics or innovation. Just Cause 2 doesn't really do any of that great or even that good - outside of the absolutely gorgeous island of Panau - only kind of mediocre. But oh my god is it fun.
You play as Rico sent to an island of Panau to kill his friend. The story has some twists but overall it's just mediocre and forgettable. To progress the story you need to cause chaos, which you can do by completing missions to one of the three faction, Ulars, Reapers or Roaches, or you can just go and blast stuff up. You can hijack a passenger jet and run it in straight into fuel tanks in a military base. Or get a fighter jet or helicopter with missiles and machine gun and rain destruction from skies, or just go in guns blazing. Once you get enough chaos you get new faction and story missions.
The game took me about 19 hours before I got to finish the main story and it's really nice length, but you need to do a lot of side missions to get to that point, because you need to cause a lot of destruction before actually getting the story missions to progress. After story you get to continue in a mercenary mode and your goal is to just cause destruction and get 100% and there is a lot, a lot, a lot of stuff to do. After finisihing the story and doing lots of side missions, I only had completed the game under 30%, and it felt like I had already explored at least half of Panau.
Shooter elements are fine. You have an autoaim which you can't really turn off, but it's ok, it works really great. You "turn it off" by aiming but it's a lot easier to just use the autoaim. Shooting is a bit stiff and enemies often can get a bit cheap on hardest difficulty, but overall it's fine. You also get a neat grappling hook that you can use to move around places quickly, pull enemies down from ledges which is really fun to do in skyscrapers, or you can get some speed when you have your parachute open.
The meat of the game is the havoc you cause, everything is just so satisfying to do and you get a lot of crazy stuff to do it with, planes, helicopters, cars and boats. The amount of content in the game is just unbelievable, and the island of Panau is just massive and great to look at. There are hundreds, probably around thousand collectibles to find like vehicle and weapons parts you can upgrade them with. There are also hundreds of locations you can complete 100% by destroying them and finding all the collectibles. JC2 can provide you with tens of hours, maybe even hundreds of hours of entertainment that almost no game does the way JC2 does. You definitely get your money's worth.

Many games try to be mature, or poetic at times. Many others wish to make you feel something (sad at the loss of somebody's life, angry at a villain, etc.) Still, there will always be a few games that simply don't care, and just throw you into an open world and say "Hey, destroy some buildings, or don't. You can do whatever you want." Just Cause 2 is one of those games. If you manage to not have fun just messing around with the expansive world given to you in this title, you have problems. Every little thing about this title feels as though it was designed solely to make the most enjoyable experience out there. I'd highly recommend it.

Just Cause 2 reminds me of GTA but even better! The game offers a lot of missions and the island is quite big which takes quite a while to explore. You can basically do almost anything in the game like riding a helicopter, hijacking cars etc. There's not much to the story of the game and the music is just fine. Other than that, the game is still pretty enjoyable despite the bad voice acting. Thinking of getting the game? Get it now and go cause some destruction or perform some crazy stunts! You won't regret it :D

Just Cause 2 is easily one of the greatest, most fun and also the most beautiful sandbox games up to date. As Agent Rico Rodriguez, whose incredible agent actions reminds me mostly for the James Bond formed by Pierce Brosnan, you've to cause chaos on the tiny islands of Panau ruled by an evil dictator and his forces. As an open world game, Just Cause 2 is one of the finest and the most fun I played with. It has a large world to discover, dozens of challenges to complete, plenty vehicles to play with, and a well polished gameplay. My greatest problem with Just Cause 2 is the very short campaign mode, the below average storytelling and simply bad characters. However unlike in GTA or other similar games, here the storyline is rather plus as the gameplay is rather centering and focusing on the sandbox gameplay the most instead of focusing on the storyline. But if you don't care about a storyline, - as this game is not about the story and maybe it never was -, but if you want to play with an open world game where you can grapple an ice cream car to the tail of a flying Harrier, and watch them as they happily fly into the sunrise, Just Cause 2 is definitely your game.

Just Cause 2 does a lot of things right. It is a sandbox in the best possible way; it allows you to go off the beaten path, and just mess around with all of the toys it gives you. Want to drive a tank? You can. Want to pilot a jet? You can. Want to grapple around, shooting baddies like a maniac? This game has you covered. The story is nothing special, but it was never supposed to be award-winning. The game shines when you don't take it too seriously. The graphics are great, the area you can explore is very large, and there's a big variety of things you can do. As well, there is a mod that introduces multiplayer to the game, with hundreds of people. Just Cause 2 is definitely worth checking out.

Just Cause 2 says screw you to that imaginary boundary set by video gaming. It's huge with many, MANY things to do. Climb the highest peak in the game just by using your hook? You can do that. Or just use a helicopter and reach the highest peak and jump down, enjoying the scenery, open your parachute, hijack some car, then do it again. It's bloody mindless fun. You don't play it for the story, you play it for the fun it offers. The story's horrible. Voice-acting is just crap. Vehicle controls are also crap. We're talking about an almost crap game here. This game's charm comes from its beautiful world filled with stuff to do. You can spend hundreds of hours exploring this game's secrets. This game is a fantastic ride. Buy it now while it's ultra cheap. Just don't expect a good story.

This game maybe don't have the best story but it's really funny. Best part of the game is probably going around this immense island destroying things, stealing vehicles (cars, bikes, but also airplanes, helicopters an military stuff). The main story is so so, some funny moments, many boring parts, mainly because of there are a lot of same missions.

Just Cause 2 is quite a fresh lump of oxygen, allowing the player, to free-roam using various vehicules, weapons, a grappling hook and lots of explosives to disseminate chaos as a mercenary whose mission is to fight the corrupt governement of a vast paradisiac asiatic island.
The mechanics of the game are so ridiculously programmed that they let the player perform ludicrous/absurd acts that help him absolutely destroy every single entity, enemy or building easily, ensuing in an enormous amount of fun and hilarity. Free falling, epic stunts and moves, mid-air hijacks, grappling enemies to high place, attaching structures to vehicules to demolish them... and so much more.
Added to that, Just Cause 2 has graphics that make it one of the most beautiful games ever made, the landscapes are simply gorgeous and the shaders/models astonishing.
One of the downsides is that the story isn't interesting at all, it feels like.. it gets in the way and doesn't really encourage you to dive in. Also, the voiceactors are simply put... terrible, so laughable that it makes you wonder if they did it on purpose.
If you like great sandbox games with good graphics and fun physics, you can't ignore Just Cause 2.

Like in GTA series, in Just Cause player has freedom to move around open world and explore it's secrets. Just Cause 2 has a huge amount of places to explore. Even more than in any GTA. Player can destroy buildings, invade army bases, fly, explore, destroy oil platforms and cause chaos. Main character has nice hook weapon which makes moving, climbing and jumping more fun. Storyline is not much, in the fact when I played Just Cause 2, I did not care it much since this game is more like sandbox. There are also factions that player can help to claim territory.
I recommend Just Cause 2 to those players that want to destroy things and cause chaos.

If you find yourself trying to pull off stunt jumps in GTA or passing time by killing random civilians in Saints Row, then this is a game you want to look into. This game is all about making up your own gravity defying stunts as you play around in the ginormous map. You can spend hours just screwing around in the game and that is what a sandbox game is supposed to be like. The story and voice acting are laughable bad, but everything else about the game is superb.

The second chapter in the saga of Just Cause, from simple mechanical free roaming strengthens all with massive doses of action, delighting the player with a great freedom of movement. There are several characteristics that distinguish Just Cause 2 on similar securities. The hook is the most obvious and takes Rico for almost more important than the weapons that he picks. It can be used in many ways, both in terms of offensive and defensive. The island is dotted with hundreds of government installations, from simple antennas strongholds, passing carts propaganda to fuel depots, razing everything will increase the level of chaos which in time will unlock new weapons and vehicles but also new missions , major and minor. The mechanism works, eliminates downtime and times when you do not know what to do, but conversely demeans the role of narrative that already suffers from her since there seems to be a predominant part of the game. In general, the diversity of objectives, which all revolve around the classic escort, destroy, hijack and conquest, Just Cause 2 excels in freedom of choice on how to bring in terms of our tasks, in how you can search the best approach for each situation. The only missions are those who suffer from repetitive "stronghold" where you have to conquer an enemy base, really all the same, indistinguishable in their enter and destroy, but necessary as the basis conquered serves as the headquarters where "rest" away from the enemy attention

With a terrible storyline, God-awful voice acting, and the most cut-and-copy cutscenes ever seen in a video game, it's a wonder that Just Cause still manages to deliver a thrill ride of a time. If this game were judged solely on the aspects listed previously, then I would give it a zero in a heartbeat. However, I have a feeling that Square Enix purposely made it out to be this way. Just Cause isn't a game to be taken seriously, it's a game to mess around with in your enormous sandbox of countless toys. As soon as the first mission's over, you're free to explore the island of Panau to your heart's content. From hijacking airplanes and crashing them into congested areas, to keelhauling an enemy soldier along your speedboat, the possibilities are seemingly endless. You'll have loads of fun simply testing out your grappling hook on unsuspecting enemies, discovering all the ways you can mess with your prey. Once, I tethered my grounded boat to an airliner, which then proceeded to drag me across the runway and lift off, carrying me with it. It's all a bunch of silly nonsense, but it's what makes this game so enjoyable. If you're looking for a giant sandbox to p* around in, you can't do much better than Just Cause 2.

Just Cause 2 is excellent. If you like to explode things, shoot everywhere and watch various things being launched to the air, you will surely like this game. If you like open world games, where you can choose missions, collect things in improbable places and interact with a lot of things: you will also like this game. If you like stunning visuals – especially mountains, trees and the sun being reflected over the water – you will like this game. If you like to eliminate your enemies in different ways like attaching them to a rocket or throwing them from higher ground, this game is made for you. The game is unique and very fun, worth the hours you will spend on it. Ok, there are a few glitches (had to reload the game because I got stuck twice) but they are just minor problems.

For some reason this game makes me think of Saints Row: The Third (In how you operate vehicles, shoot, etc.) but it's on a much larger scale. Your on an island which ranges from desert to tropical to snow covered terrain. The views can be jaw-dropping and the environment is beautiful.
The story line is decent and it encourages you to do other things besides the main campaign (with the three separate factions etc.) It's definitely a lot of fun and I have throughout enjoyed myself while playing this game.

Nowadays, there is a tendency of calling any sandbox games as "GTA clones". Even knowing that some games in fact try to follow GTA's formula, Just Cause 2 is not one of them.
Just Cause 2 puts you in a beautifully vast island and alllow you to do whatever you want to do. Besides having a great arsenal, including heavy armor and vehicles such as trucks, cars and helicopters, the protagonist "Scorpio" have a hook which makes everything more fun. From escalating a building to riding a car in the middle of a bulletstorm. Parachuting is also something that happens often in Just Cause 2, since the island has many mountains.
The graphics are great, specially the water effects. I can not say the same about the physics of the game, Scorpio becomes a weird ragdoll every time he is thrown by some explosion or fall. The voice acting is funny because of all the accents you will find throughout the game.
Just Cause 2 is a game with many possibilities and a few technical problemas which will not bother your experience of playing it. Definitely a "Must buy".

I’ve owned Just Cause 2 for quite a while now, and still I wished I got to this game earlier. This title is still one of my favorites by far when I feel like roaming around in a large and beautiful world. For me the story doesn’t really seem like it’s biggest strength, but the world you are dropped in is absolutely gorgeous. The snowy mountains claimed alot of my gametime. When I feel like messing about in a game, riding through good looking landscapes, parachute or fly around the place in a jet. Drive a car of a high peak of a mountain, This game surely takes the medal and is surely unique in it’s ways!

After a mediocre beginning to the Just Cause series, it finally shows us what it can do. Although Just Cause 2 does start a bit slow, give it an hour or two, and you'll be having the time of your life. Whether you prefer attaching enemies to the back of moving vehicles, blowing up oil rigs in a helicopter gunship, or you just enjoy clubbing... a mile up in the sky; its all there for you. You've got a wide open map featuring all sorts of environments, and its all there for you to explore. You can complete missions thereby unlocking safehouses and increasing your control of the region, or you can just go on a rampage using the many, many vehicles the game gives you. Although there are some flaws, the slightly awkward gunplay for instance, the huge variety of things to do is what will keep you coming back to Panau. I would list some of the things there are to do... but there are so many that I don't know where to start! So in short, if you're on the fence about this game - get it. You won't regret it.

One of the best summer games I've ever played. The atmosphere is so cool and there's so much to do. Sure, it might not always be that exciting, but you can play this for probably 30-50 hours without it ever getting dull. Blowing things up, doing stunts, racing, killing, collecting, just hanging around, you can do it all. The parachute and dual grapple are also awesome gameplay mechanics. It's bloody brilliant ! But there's only one downside to the entire game and that is that there aren't enough black market packages to be collected. You'll have unlocked everything about halfway through the game, so that's kinda disappointing. Now this, people, is a game you should own no matter what. Avalanche, bring us Just Cause 3 already !

Just Cause 2 is the kind of sandbox game that doesn't takes itself too seriously, and that means a lot of fun for the player. The story puts you in th shoes of Rico Rodriguez, a special agent that must eliminate his former mentor, hidden somewhere on the exotic island of Panau.
The story resembles a cheap action movie, but that doesn't bother anyone, because the entire game is written like that. It's not like nobody warned you about what to expect. Although the story is childish and full of clishes, the gameplay will make up for that. The grappling hook and parachute Rico uses are probably the most useful tools in the entire game. You can use them in order to fly , towed by a car or hang enemies to cars and let them be dragged away.
The graphics of the game are just beautiful, with nice bright colours, making you feel the atmosphere of a tropical island. The explosions also look awesome, for every little maniac inside us to enjoy. The sound is not bad either, but the voice acting could have been betterr, especially after we've seen what GTA IV was able to do.
If you always wanted to feel like one of those action movies super agents, taht blow everything in their path, then Just Cause 2 is right the game for you. If not, you should still give it a try. You'll sure like it.

This is definitely the largest world you'll see in a very long time. The world is so large, if you were to use the fastest plane and go from one corner to the other corner of the world, it would probably take 10 minutes. The best part of this game is the controls. it's not just "oh i can walk, jump and run", you can GRAPPLE things, and GRAPPLE THINGS TOGETHER. see 2 cars close together? grapple them together. You also get a parachute which is great way to fly and get around areas. grapple a car and open parachute and have a blast. Only flaw with this game is the missions can feel like "didnt i just do this mission?" and not be as exciting. outside of that, fantastic game.

Probably one of the best open world games I have ever played, and the only thing good about it is it's open world and the grapple hook system. The driving is pretty weird and floaty, the gun-play is terrible, and the 100% completion is just pure grind, but booting up this game and traversing the vast island and experiencing it's majestic scenery while grapple hooking and skydiving off a mountain is just pure bliss. It's almost like a tropical vacation simulator, and even for that alone it's worth it.

This sandbox game is definitely one of the biggest worlds you'll see in a game. You get to drive cars, fly helicopters planes or jets. There are various activies such as checkpoints (done in car, planes, or even by jumping off roofs), or action scenes where you get in gunfights, or even hijacking a car and delivering it somewhere. The fun part is the grapple and parachute, you can go ANYWHERE you see, by just grappling and flying. The grapple can also be used to attach two things together for hilarious results.

This game is an open world sandbox and all you have to do is cause chaos with really cheesy but funny voice work and animations. It plays out like a direct to dvd action flick and embraces it! It's fun to play, great to look at, the grapple and parachute mechanic never gets old and the guns sound right.
My only complaint is the controls, Square should've taken some pains to do make it right for the PC. The quick time event buttons use the number keys .. really weird. The gun switching also works as if you're on a gamepad. I tried the 360 controller too but it just didn't feel right. Thankfully it's not bad enough to make me not play the game. Worth it!!

It does have a story, but in my opinion is not that interesting, and the voice acting can be bad sometimes, but this game doesn't shine because of the story. While not the best when it comes to story, Just Cause 2 makes up for in the freedom to run, jump, sky dive, fly, and drive and cause maximum chaos. The most air you can get in a sandbox game.
The game itself is quite optimized and with no load times, you'll have a hard time staying in one place for to long. Zip line to a mountain and soon you're miles away from your objective exploring the different scenery.

The two main feature of the game are the parachute and the grapple. The parachute allow you to jump from high place and cover long distances in air. The grapple is your best weapon in this chapter and you can use it to do many things:it's a weapon, you can use it to attack and hijack vehicles or perform many crazy actions like attack an enemy to a car or an explosive barrel and see what happens. Just Cause 2 is a fun open-world game featuring a Hispanic agent who loves to wreak havoc using his grappling hook, stunt maneuvers, and whatever else he can get his hands on to make stuff go "boom", which you’ll be doing a lot to mostly random targets, as the storyline missions aren’t quite as engaging as the rest of the game. Being a DirectX 10-only game makes it look particularly gorgeous even on medium settings, letting you enjoy on what might be the biggest single area ever seen.

I spent a little over 30 hours with this game before finally just giving up on it. Where the devs went so wrong with the tech in this one is beyond me. The original runs and plays flawlessly, yet I was seeing crashes every five minutes.
When it does work, Just Cause 2 is a random chaos-causer's paradise. There is so much to see and do...and destroy. But, bugs still abound to this day. Avalanche has once again walked away from their product rather quickly, and I have to say that's a rather troubling trend that may one day end them.

Compared with the endless possibilities of this game, the story is nearly non-existent. A shame, I say.
Anyways, you have a grappling hook. You can bind a car with it. You can then bind the car to an airplane and fly around, and smash statues with your new contraption. Don't get me started on what you can do in Just Cause 2.
The graphics are also nice. However there may be too much blur for your taste. Nothing grave though.
Also, the map is humongous. You take a serious portion of time going through the map with a jet. Yes, that big.
There is going to be a MultiPlayer mod for this game, so you can't deny the traffic it will get. Buy it and join the fun and chaos!

This game is not about the story, but about exploring, destroying and experimenting with the hook and parachute. Forget about covers, you won't need them.
The game offers varied missions from the main story and lots of secondary objectives, as well as a really huge map, where you will need to move by helicopter or plane. You have to free the island from its tyrannical leader, how? Well, it's not very complex, just destroy as much governmental or military structures as you can, while you complete missions from the US or the different factions settled in the island that want to rise and get the power.
Travel using many types of vehicles, discover new places, unlock better guns finding upgrades that are all over the island, bomb oil stations, gas tanks, power suppliers, statues, fight against the army with your weapons or using creatively your hook, jump from skylines, use your parachute and land on a car to get it.
The amount of things to do is as huge as the map, it just depends on how you want to play, and how long you want the game to be.

Obviously I knew about the plot of the game (followed all the "noise" around him, even before its release), had already played a few minutes and really liked what he had seen. However, I rediscovered the game in recent days, the PC, and I'm simply amazed. With the freedom he gives us, with the action and the fun it provides. Launched in 2010 and developed by Avalanche Studios, we have an open world game just phenomenal. Here, we can say that the term sandbox can be used with great care.

If you're looking for a game with great writing and voice acting which takes fits into place in a clever and intriguing storyline... this isn't it.
However, what Just Cause 2 lacks in a storyline it gains in fun. The open world is an amazing setting for causing utter chaos and, equpped with your trusty parachute and grappeling hook combo, you have all the tools you need to do just that.
The reason I bought this game was because of the upcoming JC2-MP mod, which will make the game playable with your friends, and I can't wait to play that.

The game looks good, it feels good. It's not hard, you don't die much and you'll definitely have fun. But you will never complete the story or get all the achievements.
It just gets super boring and repetitive after some time. The missions are all the same, the bases that you need to capture are almost all the same (there are like 3 types of bases) and there are just 3 powerful weapons so you wouldn't want to swap.
So: It is truly fun and epic when you start playing, but it gets boring after 20 hours or so. Pick it up for a low price and you'll have quite some fun:)

The game is huge, fun, and funny. You HAVE to remember that it doesnt take itself too seriously and builds its world around fun. Ive never had so much fun blowing crap up in my entire life. The game rewards everything you do with Chaos points and so you never feel ripped off as you go around the world creating havoc. The story is okay but its the satisfying gameplay that will have you coming back for more.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to play an awesome open world sandbox game. Remember to tether an enemy soldier to a car or heli at least ONCE...its hilarious.

A lot of people I know haven't tried Just Cause 2 because they had a bad experience with Just Cause 1, but Just Cause 2 should not be compared to it's predecessor at all. Where JC 1 fell short, JC 2 delivers wonderfully.
Beautiful and varied landscapes including forest area, beaches, off-shore drilling rigs, snow-covered mountains, a desert, a city spread across islands connected by bridges, and many many villages... a map that is so huge that I haven't seen all the villages in it even after spending 38 hours in the game (according to Steam).
This game is wacky right off the bat. I didn't think that I would like the game so much because I considered myself a serious gamer who enjoys the likes of a more mature story-based game like GTA IV, but boy, did this game change my view about gaming! This game is all about having fun. One of your main objectives throughout the game is to blow as much stuff up as you can. You unlock missions by blowing things up.
The game can start to feel repititive after a while, but I got my money's worth way before that happened.

The gameplay is fun and addictive with a plethora of weapons and more can be added by getting the DLCs which are not that expensive. The grappling hook is a really unique feature that adds a whole level of verticality to the game. You can scale buildings, quickly move around, bind two objects together and do with them as you wish ,or simply pull objects or enemies towards you.
It's just a shame that the game's storyline and voice acting are both jarringly sub-par, because Just Cause 2 really is a spectacularly beautiful and dynamic package. If you've got the hardware to unleash its full power, the game will dazzle you with its jaw-dropping visuals and luscious environments. Despite being over a year old, its graphics still stand up as some of the finest on any platform, offering a tantalising insight into what might be possible in the next few years.

As far as I'm concerned, this game is one of the wonders that I have acquired (full version) and I are having fun all you can have fun, now I begin my analysis
Gameplay: The best of the game, get on your hook helicopters, hang your enemies into a lamppost, drag along the ground while you carry in your car, buy black market stuff, well, as people say: I like a game for its gameplay, if so and not lie, you should not sin not to buy this gem.
Technology: Sounds good, for a mapping so extensive, the game does not drop frames or anything, all very well optimized.
Graphics: I will not be able to describe what the orgasm you can see water so well done, a sky so good and the textures you have the game.
Sound: It has an interesting music, shots that seem so realistic and great.
Innovation: I think it's the only game where you can combine a mapping so large scale buildings and have fun in every way possible, though, the game becomes monotonous after several hours of play.

Just Cause 2 is one of the most massive games yet featuring a massive landscape and simple gameplay.
Just Cause 2 is an action adventure game set on multiple islands which are controlled by a nation called Panau; formerly a friend of the US, now controlled by a power-hungry dictator. You are playing as a special agent sent to the island to cause chaos and help local gangs blossom in order to topple the harsh government.
The landscape in Just Cause 2 is absolutely gorgeous and ranges from tropical jungles to hot deserts to snow mountains. There are hundreds of small villages, some towns and even a large city with a lot of skyscrapers. In addition there are army bases, fuel depots and so on. Every location provides you multiple objects and structures you can tear down and blow up.
Gameplay is simple and fun. You have a parachute and hookshot with you at all times, meaning if you can see it, you can go there. Climbing mountains and buildings has never been this simple. Hookshot + parachute combo gives you a fun way to fast-travel between locations without even needing a vehicle, but even if you don't feel like traveling on your own, you can order a black market helicopter to take you to your chosen location. Black market also provides you with weapons and vehicles for a fee.
Missions are repetitive, the story is bland and the voice acting is terrible, but despite that, there is so much else to do that you won't even be paying much attention to the story.
Just Cause 2 is a game any fan of the genre should play.

Just Cause 2 features gorgeous visuals with scenery that includes snow-capped mountains, deserts, jungles, villages and even urban cities. The graphics can really take your breath away sometimes and coupled with 3D vision and Nvidia Cuda exclusive features such as realistic water simulation and Bokeh filters, this game can look simply amazing at the highest settings.
The only gripe I have for this game is the story and voice acting. The story is something that you will ultimately not care that much about and the voice acting is horrible to the point where you just can't help but laugh sometimes. But these are two gripes in a game in which you can tell that these were the two areas you will not care about and the developers knew that. The part which you will care about, the actual gameplay, is something that is very refined, fun and extremely addictive.
All in all, this is a game which you should definitely buy and considering how cheap the price is right now, you would be remiss if you didn't buy it.

A massive open world environment. Guns, cars, bikes, explosives and a hook that you can use to get around quickly along with parachuting! What a formula for a great game!
Unfortunately, the story fails to hold much water and the voice acting is not very good. But this game is one that you will spend most of your time exploring the expansive and vertical world, or grappling police with your hook and throwing them around!
The missions should you choose to complete them are all non-linear, so you can choose to do a mission whenever you like, and bail out if need be.
A huge improvement over the original and highly recommended if you like games in which you explore the world and have fun...just 'cause!

Just Cause 2 is, in essence, exactly what those who have been disillusioned by the grittiness and excessive seriousness displayed by so many modern open world sandbox games have been looking for.
Armed with a grappling hook and an arsenal of bombastic, super-powered firearms, you're let loose on a large island with little in the way of guidance other than to cause as much chaos as possible. And, if you're anything like the majority of gamers out there, you're unlikely to pass up the opportunity to plough rampantly through the vast, open terrain, leaving a trail of destruction in your almighty wake.
If you're looking for an evening of well-reasoned sophistication, you'd be barking up the wrong tree with Just Cause 2. If, however, you have an occasional craving for mindless fun on a grand scale, this is the game that will scratch your itch for many hours to come.

I love how this is somewhat of a sandbox like game where you go around the island, blowing things up, completing missions and shooting anything and everything that moves. The game play is definitely repetitive though but completionists out there may like this game since there are many tasks to 100% achieve. The grappling aspect of the game is a bit fun too, as it helps you get around the island very fast. There are achievements in game too that will help you along the way. Just Cause 2 is intense action, lots of laughs blowing the whole island up and just plain mindless fun.

Just cause 2 probably the best Sandbox game i played till Gta SA and one of the best games i have played in recent years.Just cause 2 DEFINES Sandbox gameplay. There is Just one goal in Just cause 2 that is create chaos by any means. That may include attaching a enemy jeep to a bridge via your mighty grappling hook or just go gun blazing in old fashion way.If you see the situation getting too bad just escape with your parachute or just still a vehicle(that may include a fighter Jet or even a airplane). There is no border to restrict you within the game world like a true sandbox game. Game world is also huge and have different beautiful environments. So you will never get bored. There is also variety of weapons and vehicle available in Just cause 2 to play with. Though the main Story and voice acting is pretty poor, but the great gameplay covers all the flaws. So if you are looking for a fun game that will provide you hours on entertainment ,look no more and buy just cause 2 now!

Just Cause 2 has some of the worst voice acting you are likely to find in a game. There… I got the only bad thing about this game out of the way. Now let’s focus on why you should buy this.
Just Cause 2 is huge and its sandbox style non-linear play gives you the ultimate gaming freedom. There are tons of vehicles, loads of different weapons, and a nearly infinite way to accomplish anything you set out to do. The grappling hook is great for movement, but is also the most outrageously fun weapon in the game. The action is tight and most importantly it is fun. Completionists will get 100+ hours of game play, but casual gamers will still get much more than their money’s worth from this game. It simply never stops being fun.
Buy with confidence.

The world is huge, the graphics are beyond beautiful and the entire point of the game is to blow stuff up in fun and creative ways. Whats not to love? Sadly the plot. I never realized how important a good story was to a sandbox game until I played Just Cause 2. Coming from GTA4 and Saints Row 2 to Just Cause 2, something is lacking and that something is an real reason to give a fig about the main character or the world in which you play. The voice acting and script makes Steven Seagal look like high art to the point that you could almost mistake it for parody... were it not for the fact that it isn't even funny in its ludicrousness. Just Cause 2 is fun but ultimately hallow, but acts as a nice place holder until Saints Row the Third.

When you can plummet from great heights without fear and propel yourself across vast distances with a grappling hook, you know life is good. Just Cause 2 throws you into a large 3 island environment and lets you run wild. Whether you stick to story missions or wander aimlessly causing death and destruction, there is something for everyone here. Beautiful landscapes and a dynamic weather system bring the islands to life as you traverse their wide vistas.
Many open world games restrict you in various ways but in JC2, you have that freedom you've always craved. Want to surf on cars? Ride a gas canister into the sky or hijack an airplane? Maybe you just want to tie your foes to moving vehicles and laugh like a mad man as they get zipped away? You can do these things and more in JC2.
The story is secondary to everything else in this game. Don't buy this game for the plot or any sort of story telling. Buy this game for the countless hours of fun you can experience as the Spanish Spider Man.

Just Cause 2 is the follow up to the mildly (and I use that term loosely) repetative Just Cause. Just Cause 2 virtually improves on everything that made the first one good, the destruction. The majority of the game can be broken down to driving a car really fast into a base, parachute out of the car in high speed, land on top of the base, and start shooting everything in sight. Then you proceed with destroying the base with your arsenal. And the game continues like that for the most part, breaking up between the destruction with more destruction, as part of missions given out by the different faction leaders across the land. Just Cause 2 is pretty, fast, intense, fun, explosive and awesome. There is no reason not to get this game, except if you are a pacifist or hate explosions.

First the warning. It is Directx 10 and up so no windows XP allowed.
If you are fine with that, then come on over to Panau and lets set the place on fire. Its completely open world, you get missions all over the map, and scores come available on every tier so you are never stuck for places to vist.
The gameplay is in how you visit, from tanks, scooters, planes, powerboats, sports cars and attack helicopters anywhere you want to go, you go.
The AI and voice acting is poor but it never gets in the way of things. I like to look on it as a action movie from the 80's and 90's, acting is poor, story is poor but it is what popcorn gaming is about, just great gameplay.
What are you waiting for? Panau is waiting

A true sandbox experience and a huge improvement from the original. One of the most massive worlds you will experience while playing games, gives you a ton of stuff to do and if you feel like 100%-ing it, prepare to spend quite some time. Landscape combined with the insane view distance probably will make you cry, especially if you happen to fly a plane to get the best out of it. Not many cons come in mind, except maybe the cliche and weak storyline. Also driving could use some improvement, especially at high speeds. And keep in mind its one of those rare (for now) Windows Vista/7 only games. Conclusion, if you like sandbox games, you better get it.

Just Cause 2 is one of those games you can pick up and play for hours at a time or simply for a short period thanks to the fact that there is always something to do in the game fitting for any time span you may have.
While the main storyline is almost non-existant and particulary weak this is something which can be easily overlooked due to the immense amounts of fun you are having purely from transversing over the island, blowing up huge structures and carrying out sidemissions such as eliminating enemy gang leaders. However, as expected, this can get repetative as you drive from district to district blowing the same things up over and over again while shooting your way through a seemingly endless wave of enemies - even with the vastly different environments and huge island to explore. And when I say huge I really do mean HUGE; Just Cause 2 bolsters one of the largest maps in all games and can take you minutes to fly from one side of the island to the other using a jet plane, as well as the fact that every single part of the island is open and reachable. Free-roaming the island will give you many hours of gameplay alone (if that is what interests you.)
All in all, Just Cause 2 is worth a purchase should you have some money spare or are looking for a new game to occupy for a moderate amount of time. Personally I've clocked over 15 hours of gameplay and still have much more to finish.

Lets get the bad out of the way: The voice acting is pretty terrible, and the controls can feel a bit floaty. That's about it.
Now for the good: The world is HUGE while not being boring, and the graphics are beautiful. It's one of those games were you can spend hours just driving/flying around, causing havoc, experimenting with the world and have fun. The driving physics are MUCH improved from the first game, and taking the vehicles offroad is loads of fun. There are cars, planes, helicopters, boats, motorcycles, quads, military jets for you to take for a spin. Another highlight is: Everything you can see, you can visit. See that huge mountain on the horizon? Go and climb it. Then request a helicopter to drop a sports car on the top of the mountain, and ride it off the cliff. Before you hit the ground you jump out and glide to safety with your parachute.
Best open world game in a while, and loads of fun with tremendous value for money.

GTA got you down? Not enough explosions? Not enough chaos? Just Cause 2 is the game to get for anyone needing a break from the often grounded free roam games. The sky truly is the limit to this great game. Story might not be its forte, but what it lacks in story it makes up in altitude, stunts and and all around willingness to let you do what you want. Just stand on top of one of the tallest mountains in the game world and take in the scenery; you'll know your in a totally different type of open world.

This game is incredibly fun and the scope of this game will blow you away. It say it's big is a massive understatement. It can be hard to get 100% on some of the locations, since everything is so spread out and there isn't really a way to track government structures and upgrade boxes. There's so many different vehicles available to the player, including motorbikes, monster trucks, jets, ATV's, helicopters, etc... The grapple system lets you zip around the environment and really increases the vertical scale on the game. The AI for enemies and npc's isn't great, and there's some bugs here and there. But this is one of the most fun sandbox games you'll ever play.

Just Cause 2 is just that: an open world. It has a good story, but what else makes up. It has very good graphics (the vegetation is very realistic, landscapes as well as water), good sound and excellent playability. We launch and parachute anywhere in the map (which is extensive, imagine a GTA San Andreas), also to use very good cars and weapons (as a kind of whip, which sticks to things). In short, a very good game.

Make no mistake - JC2 is a fun romp. A reviewer below likened it to an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie that's pretty spot on - think the final 30mins of Commando. Never played JC1 so cannot compare the two but I cant help but see the similarities to EA's The Saboteur - complete with the building climbing (this time done by grappling hook). Lots of things to do once you stray away from the basic story line - fell free to take mopeds, dirt bikes, taxis, fire engines, APCs, helicopters, Harriers, fighter jets, corporate jets, jeeps, fast attack vehicles, 4-wheelers, torpedo boats, speed boats, commercial fishing boats - the possibilities are really pretty endless. The environments are pretty varied - day changes to night, rain comes into the area, traverse from deserts to mountaintops to jungles at your leisure. There are even oil rigs you can take a helicopter or boat out to and wreak havoc there, crippling the islands resources. Pull enemies out of guard towers, from speed boats or passing motorcycles with your hook. Glide in for the perfect landing with your parachute. Upgrade weapons as you locate money and parts stashes, find the dozens of island collectibles - this game might just very well have something for everyone - and it really is only as repetitive as you make it. Other that than that, it's great carnal fun.

Sometimes, you pick up a game and play through it once and get it over with, but Just cause 2 stuns you with an addiction that brings you back for more. While vanilla Just cause 2 is a great hybrid of a movie with stunts and a third person shooter, mods make it even better with black market mods that let you spawn any vehicle you want. Just cause 2 is a great game, and could be picked up when you have the time. It throws you into a sandbox thriller that also drags you to a gorgeous island. Just cause 2 in my view is the best Open World title available out there. It might not have the realism of GTA 4 but when it comes down to accessibility, fun and action. There is no challenge.
First thing that will truly amaze you is its graphics quality. Game boasts one of the most amazing visuals rarely seen in a game of this much scope. Just Cause 2 is set in a tropical paradise with miles and miles of open space, incredibly crafted down to small trees and flowers. And it looks absolutely gorgeous. Adds to the icing is how easy it is to travel from place to place in this open play ground. You can drive cars, bikes, boats and even fly in a number of aircraft ranging from helicopters to jumbo jets. But the greatest tool of all is a grappling hook. Rather silly and amusing to look at but highly fun to use and adds a unique twist, You shoot the grapple hook over a small distance and then hurl yourself forward and deploy a parachute and you start flying. There is not a single portion of the world that fails to disappoint and is visually stunning. Environments range from Icy mountain tops to lush jungles to barren deserts.
Adds to this stunning visual splendor is the quality of action here. At our disposal are tons of weapons, even tanks and fighter jets. Controls are robust and highly responsive and we feel highly powerful as RICO the protagonist of the game.
One rather disappointing thing about the game is its silly and non existense storyline. We are a specail agent send out to clear out the Island paradise from its evil ruler. We are to collaborate with the number of factions present on the Island to help remove the president. But thats about it. It is rather unfortunate that a title of this quality doesn't have a decent storyline. Otherwise it is a perfect titles in all other aspects.
If you want to spend hundreds of hours in a beautiful open world game, Just Cause 2 is the must have title for you.

If you like guns and explosions, you will like this game. That's basically all there is to know. The plot basically makes you into a really cheesy action hero and gives you an entire island to destroy. You travel around using your trusty grappling hook, and run around subverting the local dictator by blowing up government buildings and killing soldiers. That's all there is to it. Unfortunately, nearly all the action takes place outside, so it can get a little repetitive.

Just Cause 2 is one of these games that lets you do (almost) whatever you want, or in short a sandbox like game. It was never so fun to blow stuff up in a videogame, hooking some random guy on a pole, piloting jets and etc. Graphicaly the game is astonishing but the good graphics don't really match with the gameplay. The game tends in certain moments to swarm you with waves of never ending enemies making the game sometimes instead of a challenge more an annoyance but this is solved with the unrealistic but fun to use grappling hook, Riko (the main character), has a parachute too wich can be used to literaly fly with it after reaching certain heights. The voice acting in this game is pretty bad but that wasn't really what the developers where aiming at.
Just Cause 2 is a good game but sadly the bad voice acting and the repetitive gameplay ruined a bit my experience.

Well what can I say? Just Cause 2 is exactly what the trailers suggest - an action-packed thrill ride full of mayhem, explosions, vehicles, and stunning visuals. Panau is a country ruled by the Corrupt Baby Panay, a dictator said to have killed his own father to gain power. With 4 distinctive areas (snowy mountains, large deserts, tropical jungles and small islands), filled with hundreds of settlements, fortresses, and airports, the setting is really huge. Even in a super-sonic jet it will take around an hour to travel the distance of the map!
Overall, Just Cause 2 is a great game, with annoying characters, a beautifully-designed island and a fantastical story.
In conclusion - get this game!

Some of the most fun I've had in a single player game ever. The map is massive and as a sandbox game, lets you do whatever you want. The story leaves a lot to be desired but you can play this for so long without ever going near it. The grapple hook just adds another level of fun, any two things can be attached to each other and is just about the greatest addition to a game ever. Some of the best visuals in a game at the moment round this off as a truly awesome game.

The game starts out amazing. The thought of unlimited freedom is amazing, seeing how once you get the grappling hook, you could do whatever you want with it. Grappling a pedestrian to a car, then driving the car around seems hilarious, or just being a ninja with the hook is hilarious. The world of JC2 is full of immersion, but here's the thing; once you see it, you've seen it all. You soon realize that half the map is full of mountains, and traveling through helicopter, or hanging on a helicopter, is only fun after a while. True, there's a lot of freedom, but the terrain becomes so "deja vu" that you'd feel like taking a nap. The missions play out the same, and after a while there's no real incentive feel for playing out the missions.
JC2 is exactly what it is, a sandbox game. It's fun for the first 10 hours, but afterwards, it's the same thing over and over.

You have been tasked with removing a bad guy on a foreign land. Let's forget about that and have some fun in this country instead. Since storytelling is becoming a joke for sandbox games, why not make our own missions with the rather weird assortment of tools given to us? An air gun that ragdolls people off buildings, grappling hooks that attach objects/people to vehicles, monster trucks humping buildings. The base game does have cost issues with ordering from the black market and pointless cutscenes. The modding community will fix such issues and expand on the shortcomings.

Just Cause 2 is a masterpiece of gorgeous explosions, death-defying stunts and exciting adventures through numerous environments. Whether you are mowing down soldiers from a helicopter, or skydiving into a military base, or making a daring escape on a motorcycle, there's always something exciting to do.
Visually, Just Cause 2 is breathtaking. The HDR and immaculate view distance demonstrates just how massive the game world is. Panau features a large variety of environments, ranging from cities and villages to deserts, jungles and massive mountains.
Combat is fun, but rather easy. The auto-aim assists a bit, but headshots take down even the toughest enemies and bosses quickly.
My only complaint with the game, however, was the story. It was less than stellar, and often took to the background amongst everything else.
Overall, I give Just Cause 2 a superb 87 rating. It was a fantastic experience for me, and the lack of a major story didn't really affect me, especially since you can continue playing afterwards. I would highly recommend you pick this up, I guarantee you will enjoy it.

It's crazy, balls-out fun, and it all takes place on a massive, beautiful island. There's mountains to skydive off of, cities to wreak havoc in, and winding forest paths to have an epic car chase on. There's also plenty of vehicles to drive and perform stunts in, like cars, boats, motorcycles, planes, and helicopters. And there's an awesome grappling hook, similar to the hookshot from Zelda. Combined with the parachute, it's an excellent way to get around the island. Just Cause 2 is a great game with great action.

This game is fun to play but it is hallow, very hallow. It is fun to play it because you've got a full free roam mode. You can basically say - destruction mode on! It's also got many, MANY possibilities. Crush statues, tie a plane to a plane, tie a car to a helicopter... It's incredibly fun! And good graphics too! The bad aspect of this game is that it's story sucks very badly... And due to it's repetitiveness, it can get boring in an average period of time.
I would buy it because it's fun to have fun sometimes... But keep in mind that the story line sucks badly.

Just Cause 2 is the sequel released in 2006, the game Just Cause. The game tells the adventures of Rico Rodriquez'a, who is an employee of a secret organization known as - the Agency. In the second part we get the task of finding an old "friend" who probably went over to the enemy. And so we land on the "fictional" Panau island, where there is no shortage of class:) We can "entertain" in the club, which is in the clouds - literally. We can also go to the beach and "borrow" from someone motorboat, which pozwiedzamy Panau by sea. JC2 is the essence of the game sandbox, missions do not have a job here, "sustain" the game, but it prolonged. The game I recommend to everyone, especially fans Sanbox's "discover"

Just Cause 2 is not only beautiful but an absurd amount of fun. Whether it's driving a truck off a mountain or skimming meters above the ocean in your stolen jet it's never boring.
The map is huge and filled with easter eggs for players you like to check out every corner of a world. The draw distance and visuals just make it a treat to watch the sunrise or fly lazily around the various islands.
The only issues I had with it were the limited ammo you have for your personal weapons. Making it more efficient, less annoying, and more fun to use vehicles. Although mods fix this short coming and add more ways to use the grappling hook.

The story may be bad. The acting may be abysmal. What Just Cause 2 orders in entertaining gameplay mechanics and large beautiful surroundings more than makes up for it! This is sandbox gameplay at it's best. If you're looking for a wild game where you can go from riding a motorcycle to flying a jet to mid-air hijacking a helicopter in a matter of seconds, this game is for you. If you're looking for interesting missions, sticking to the beaten path, then you will not enjoy this.

AWESOME open world game. Fantastic graphics and solid gameplay elements. Very lengthy campaign too. I've spent so many hours on it and I'm only half way through. Missons are varied and interesting. You'll always find something to do in this game.
1) This game reeks console all over it. The mouse movements are so cranky somethings it is a bitch to play. It's too insensitive but despite that you can hardly make small and precise movements with it.
2) The non-mission stuffs can get very repititive.
3) Needs a good PC to see it in all it's glory.
Overall, it is still a great game despite these minor nuances.
TIP: Learn to fly a helicopter asap. It will save you lots of pain and give you tons of fun.

This game is really fun and for me it is better than the GTA IV. You can do everything you want to go anywhere in the map. Game's map is huge it has icy mountains, cities and deserts. You can drive everything like Boeing 737 to classical cars or jet fighters. Also it has great physics system, you can destroy nearly everything. You should get this game. Finally game has 40+ hours of fun. One of the best sandbox games ever made.

Just Cause 2 is the perfect free roam game, with a mix of action, adventure, secrets, easter eggs, and just plain fun. Although the game has a so-so storyline, the characters are likeable, the gadgets are awesome, and the gameplay is just plain spectacular. If you are a fan of GTA, Saint's Row, or Red Dead Redemption, you would love this game.

Great gameplay, amazing physics, awesome graphics, Just Cause 2 is a must have for players who appreciate an action - open world sandbox type of game. The main storyline is quite simple as some people may argue, but the strong point of this game relies on being capable of free-roaming a world full of enemies, weapons and vehicles which will grant you hours of fun. Things like the massive amount of mods available only help improve the user's experience and add many more gaming hours.

To define Just Cause 2, a lot of words can be said. But I think: options is the best way to define JC2. If you liked games like GTA, you'll like this. Imagine JC2 as a revamp of GTA. Free roam, a HUGE map, numerous guns and vehicles, transport using various things, hell you can even latch onto a plane and go with it. You can do almost anything. Plot is your average joe. Friends become enemies, enemies become your friends. your typical spy theme. But missions start off the worst way possible. The person drives up..talks..and there is your mission. And this occurs FOR EVERY MISSION. It is so annoying. I wish there was more variety to that. Visually speaking, game looks much more Superior than the first game. Bugs and glitches are limited as well. Developers also took notice of the lack of vehicles in the first game. You can tell by the numerous additions of band new vehicles. The black market is still here and all. Buying guns and all that, you know the deal. But what I really like about JC2 is the vast size of it. The map is just so huge..it'll take a load of time to explore. You'll also find references to things like LOST. It is always nice for a couple giggles here and there. Great game.

You'll have tons of fun with this. Just pure open-world mayhem. Fantastic graphics, tons of vehicles, awesome locations, clever easter eggs, awesome cheesy story. Missions are repetitive, enemies are bullet sponges and the black market prices are ridiculous, but that doesn't mean much. Don't forget to check out the mods for this game (I highly recomend Bolopatch)

Very cool game. I think it is one if the best I have ever played. Fast action, good story, much missions and things to do and destroy. Even not that bad it looks with reality in the game. You can play this game for hours, it has great sandbox - huge island to move around. I really enjoy this game and I am still playing it. I think I can recommend it at all, because it is really worth it.
Mindless fun - great after long sessions of adventure gamesZniper | June 23, 2011 | See all Zniper's reviews »
Just Cause 2 is, like anyone who saw a few screenshots of it thinks, a pretty much mindless action game, but with lots of content and funny moments along its course.
Despite the fact that you get a pretty simple storyline to get throughout the whole game, its good points (especially gameplay - although not ”very” original) lower the balance in the games favour.'
Probably the strongest point of Just Cause 2 is the sandbox world - which is H.U.G.E. You need hndreds of hours of playtime to get through the whole world. But this has its downside - boredom. I got bored after 8-10 hours of exploring, which is fine, but not enough.

Looks great, runs great. Incredible graphics and great fun to run / fly / drive / grapple around in. Destruction effects and physics are excellent, the map is enormous and varied and there are plenty of missions as well as free-roaming. Unfortunately the voice-acting isn't that great, the story isn't that interesting, and it seems a little directionless. However you can still have a great time with this game.

The plot of the game it's not really interesting or realisitc, but it's the whole of the possibilites what makes it a good game. If you like sandbox games, this one has a huge and really diverse map, that mixxed with the parachute mechanics could give you a lot of fun.

The story in this game is TERRIBLE. However, it makes up for it by far in fun. With almost limitless possibilities, you can happily tie a car to your plane just to see what happens. One of my favorite things to do is jump on top of another person's car, which scares them, so they drive really fast. Then, i shoot the police, and have my own getaway vehicle. Then, when we cross a bridge, i tie a police car to the edge, so it bounces back and off the edge,
Maybe that's just me. But it's a lot of fun. This game is well worth the money, and a must buy for any Sandbox fans!

Just Cause 2 is an open world action-adventure game developed by Avalanche Studios and Eidos Interactive. Games is set on the fictional island of Panau in Southeast Asia. Rico Rodriguez returns to wreck havoc on an island which is ruled by a dictator.
Just Cause 2 is all about wrecking havoc in a tropical island. It has a decent but short story. JC2's gameplay surpass it's predecessor in every way. Handling is more friendly, every vehicle feels more manoeuvrable. With improved grapling hook you can perform various stunts. Beautiful graphics makes flying or driving through island more enjoyable.
Sadly, there is no multiplayer or other competitive modes.
To sum things up, I would recommend this game to eveyone who like free roam games and action-packed gameplay. Despite short main story it's still a great game. It provides good value for money.

The first thing you'll notice upon loading up Just Cause 2 is that the voice acting is horrendous, and the plot is fairly sub-average. In fact, it made me wonder why it was rated so highly in the opening cutscene. But fear not, you don't have to care about the story, because either way you'll enjoy grappling and blowing stuff up.
And in that sense, JC2 absolutely prevails. And beyond that first mission, you'll find you can blow up anywhere with a host of weapons and vehicles! So I'd liken the experience to GTA or Red Faction, an experience best played like a sandbox rather than a story, except this map is more beautiful and more expansive than either. And even includes a wider arsenal to blow stuff up with.
So just have fun, but don't expect a solid campaign, just one that gives you plenty of excuses to blow stuff up.

This game is way too repetitive. Sure, it was fun for the first few hours but everything after that seems the same. The plot in this game is terrible, its too cliched. All the missions seemed to be copied and pasted, everything seems the same. The voice acting is terrible. The scenery in this game is also copied and pasted over many times.
I wouldn't recommend purchasing this game at its full price, its not worth it. Its a pretty big improvement from Just Cause 1 but that's not enough. I would recommend buying this game at a discounted price though because it is worth the experience.

Just Cause 2 is one of the funnest games I have ever played, although it does have it's share of flaws.
The biggest flaw is the voice acting in the game, it is absolutely horrendous. One minute the guy sounds like he's trying to sound Latin, another minute he sounds Russian.
On top of that, the story of the game is rather boring and dull, it doesn't seem to matter much.
Even with those two faults, the game is incredible. There are a lot of missions to do, and you may have even more fun not going to missions, and simply parachuting around the island, causing chaos. This game is a must buy!

This game is a sure buy if you enjoy the open-world genre of gaming. Panau takes ages to completely explore, and there countless side missions besides the main plot, which is cheesy but funny as well. The visuals are also amazing, and the game is optimized and built for PC. The experience and lasting appeal you will get with this game is practically unmatched by other open world games in the market. The combat is filled with variety as there are many creative ways to kill your enemies. The parachute makes exploration across the many islands a great and even relaxing experience. The gunplay could have been better though, but the combat is nice overall. All in all, a must play for any gamer, especially if you love sandbox games.

At first glance, Just Cause 2 might look to some as a stupid game with over-the-top action that never let's off. But no fellow gamers, Just Cause 2 is a game that defines Sandbox, fun and action.
The plot is kept pretty basic: go into this tyranny ruled tropical nation, create chaos and overthrow the dictator Pandak Panay ( Baby Panay if you will). To get help with this task you have to team up with 3 minor crime organizations in Panau, which are all nicely varied in terms of motivations and deeds But you are not here for the story now are you? No sir ( or lady) you are here for the gameplay which Avalanche Studios polished up to near perfection. Your main tool will be a grapple hook which can attach to any surface in range, this is specially helpfull in hairy situations. You can, also attach things to other things, so have fun experimenting! Also another tool in Master-Wizard in Time and Space Rico Rodriguez's inventory is a big number of silly, effective and fun to use guns. And to top it all off, you can pull a unlimited amount of parachutes literally out of your....
Now for the game world, which is really huge. Like, really really really huge. If you can imagine a world about 25km on each side with enough sand to fill the Sahara desert you have the right idea. The world itself is richly detailed and varied, and absolutely amazing to look at to say the least.
So, yeah. Just Cause 2 is a amazing, fun, silly, action-packed sandbox game and it would be a crime not to try it out.
THE best sandbox I've ever playedIchiro | May 9, 2011 | See all Ichiro's reviews »
This has got to be the best sandbox game that I've ever played. I bought it off Steam when it was on sale during last year, and believe me, I played it for almost three days straight (excluding sleep). Even without the plethora of enhancement mods (that you can download for free), the game as it is is excellent.
Storyline is, well, alright. Thinking of the entire game as a whole, the storyline's only medium. The main reason for playing this game is to just fool around and do random stuff. It's different from GTA, since that one's a bit more restrictive on what you can do.
The physics in this game are JUST warped enough that you won't consider it fake. It's just enough to make the entire game as itself fun to mess around in.
The scenery and map is HUGE, and it's GREAT going everywhere to explore. You have tons of vehicles, planes, weapons, etc. to do whatever the heck you'd like to.
Definitely a game everybody must try, at the least. Don't expect to beat it and just end it at that. That's not the point of the game. The point of the game is to just go around and screw stuff up.

If you haven't played JC2 skip this review and just buy it. It's one of the best gaming experience you can try. It has the best landscapes I've ever seen in a game, amazing graphics, and, what's most, you can do almost what you want. And you can visit all the locations, but you'll find always something you haven't seen or you haven't thought of. Gameplay is always different, you can kill enemies by dragging them with a car, killing them, running over them or using your hook. Yeah, missions aren't very fine, thery're aren't very different, but they're however very funny.

Generic character experiencing a generic story line in a wonderful open world. On the surface this game appears to become boring very fast but that's not true. There is a ton of fun to be had in this game. The player is able to perform over the top tricks on cars and planes, but the grappling hook is the main attraction. The grappling hook enables the player to attach a lot of different things to each other sometimes resulting in quite chaotic consequences and chaos is the main goal of this game.
Extremely fun Sandbox GameBDtetra | April 10, 2011 | See all BDtetra's reviews »
Just Cause 2 is definitely a must buy if you enjoy sandbox games such as Grand Theft Auto and Mercenaries. Although there isn't much of a story to the whole game, its just fun blowing up enemy bases with helicopters, or going stealth and setting C4's on the oil tanks. There is a lot that you can destroy, and the more you destroy, the more points and money you get. There are tons of side quests where you work for multiple factions, so you will need a lot of time if you want to complete all of them. The map itself is enormous, much bigger than I have seen for a lot of games. Maybe a little too big because it does take you a while to get from one place to another.
One interesting factor to this game that other open world games don't have is the tether. You can use it the obvious way where you use it to move around buildings, or you can use it in creative ways such as tethering an enemy to a helicopter and fly with him. It adds a lot more creativity to your gameplay.
The only major downside to this game is that the faction missions do get boring after a while, and is extremely difficult to keep your motivation up if you want to complete every single mission and collectible. I don't really recommend trying to complete every mission you can step by step, but rather play and try to beat the game once, and start collecting the second time around.

Just Cause 2 is a sandbox game with lots of lands to visit. As a Rico Rodriguez, a CIA agent, we can do missions for three gangs: organised Roaches, communist Reapers and Ular Boys. Rico's main task is oust Pandak Panay, a dictator of Panau, from office and find Tom Sheldon, a deactivated Agency's spy.
Chaos Points is gaining for completing missions, devastation govermental property or destroing military bases and collecting factions' stuff.
On Black Market, Rico can buy or upgrade weapons and vehicles and order transport to any place, which were unlocked earlier.
An unique idea was giving Rico a special equipment - an useful cable with a hook. Rodriguez can attach one thing to other, e.g. enemy to a gas cylinder or taxi to the ground. This creates plenty of opportunities and players want to discover 'what will happen if they attach this thing to this'?
So, Just Cause 2 is a 'first class game with an open world' and I truly reccomend it to all fans of great action games.
Solid As A Solid RockGMGReviewer | April 4, 2011 | See all GMGReviewer's reviews »
Just like my previous review this is another extremely polished game.
First of all, Square Enix Community Manager Mike Oldman stated it isn't just a console port, and he's right! Unlike other multi-platform games out there, Just Cause 2 doesn't feel like a console port [no crash error or issues since i installed it] but the problem is i find the controls to be difficult with keyboard & mouse due to the quick combination of button presses, so i strongly recommend using a controller.
The game is one huge extraordinary sandbox world!! The biggest i've played so far! The story and characters are as cheesy as it gets, but the gameplay is as fun as it gets. You can accomplish your missions in any way you like. All the missions are alike where you to have to destroy, collect or kill, but they're all fun in the process. You have multiple ground/air vehicles, multiple types of weapons and a grappling hook that differentiate it from all other open-world games.
If you don't care about story and just want to have fun and play around with great environmental physics in a huge world, this is the game for you. It does get boring if you plan on installing any 'cheat' mods, so i suggest you don't over do it with mods, keep it challenging. The game is well over 20 hours with all side missions done. The game is one of the most solid/polished games I've played and it sets the bar for open world sandbox game.
