Stop kissing and kick the damn ball!sonicchaos | Aug. 1, 2014 | See all sonicchaos's reviews »
It's about football, or soccer as some call it, although you use your foot to kick the ball and it's technically more logical than... You know what, call it what you want, it's sport. We, gamers, don't all like playing outside anyway and playing a good sport game on the screen is a thousand times better than just watching it on TV. So yeah, basically there's a career mode where you make up any sort of story you want. It's the laziest form of backing out of work and saying "hey, we're letting you be creative", but in this case it works well enough. And there's multiplayer, were the franchise mostly shines. Why am I referring to the franchise and not the game? Because it's the same damn game as last year and the year before that, with minor exceptions. It seems that the better their technology gets, the worst the game becomes. The more EA shoves money into marketing and hype, the more bugs and lies the gamers tend to find. Which is extremely weird. Either EA executives fire people to hire their own untalented nephews and son in laws to work on stuff already built, or the same devs become more "distracted". What gives? Anyway, the game plays good, looks good, but we all know this is just another experiment for FIFA 15. So, enjoy it while it lasts.

It's the same FIFA as always, nothing new expect horrible menus. If you have 13 there is nothing worth buying expect new roster. Not to mention it's not even ng FIFA, just old graphics with boring gameplay and some bugs. I would wait for ng FIFA15 rather than buying it. Career and online mode are fun, but it's definitely not the best football game ever made. There is only one new thing here - impact engine, which feels artificial and strange. Because of it there are lot of funny and strange situations. Could be annoying at it's definitely not polished yet as it was supposed to be.
An improvement over FIFA 13 (PC)DowntimeGuys | April 2, 2014 | See all DowntimeGuys's reviews »
FIFA 14 has taken everything good about FIFA 13 and expanded upon it. The defending has been improved and the players' movement off-the-ball has been vastly improved, making the game real closer to that of real-life football. My gripe with the game is the fact that a XBox One and PS4 version of the game exist which utilises the new Impact Engine which improves physics and graphical fidelity. Apart from being lazy, I can't see any reason why this engine could not have been used in the PC version of the game. Most gamers who would play this on PC will have a pretty high spec system. Even if the game isn't particularly well optimised, it would still look and feel a lot better than this version. Bottom line is that if you've not played the next gen version of FIFA 14 you will be happy with what is a decent port of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. For those of us who've played the Ignite Engine powered games on next gen, this simply doesn't compare. Let's hope they sort it out next season!
