Comic book style animation/cut scenes, The story played out like a comic, It has its flaws but overall was a solid game. It doesn't live up to the Arkham name, but for true fans its a solid entry and a look into. Sadly you have to complete it three times to get the final 4 achievements, But the story doesn't take as long as the collectibles did. With that being said the collectibles were tedious and you have to use your analyzer/detective vision every square inch so you don't miss a hint. Also you have to analyze most areas that are destructible to use the proper gadget on in order to move on. You can't just use it right of the bat, which was a little aggravating.
Good game but buy it on PS Vitaalazar14 | July 23, 2014 | See all alazar14's reviews »
This is a good game that was clearly not developed with PC in mind. As stated in the previous review, controls feel off a bit. The graphics are not impressive in any way on PC and the entire package just feels like a bad / high resolution port of the Vita version without the portability. Just do yourselves a favor and buy the vita version if you feel you need this game. There is a lot of backtracking similarly to games like Metroid. Unfortunately, enemies do not return once killed so this makes backtracking a boring and unexciting task. As a whole the game is a very SOLID handheld game / old school Metroidvania style side scroller game. As a PC title it falls way short of the mark.
Definitely, this should not have been ported to PC.sergebelanger22 | April 28, 2014 | See all sergebelanger22's reviews »
In Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate, the story takes place in the prison, few days after Batman Arkham Origins. You chase Catwoman and then find out that there are hostages that you need to save.
One of the problems with this game is that you have to travel between the 4 buildings back and forth all the time. Just to travel from each place can take you up to 15 minutes, for getting an equipment or a 1 minute fight. This lengthen the game, but not in the good way. I would have prefer it to be shorter but more intense. You cannot quick travel. At the beginning of the game, there are places blocked almost everywhere, so you have to take one path to go through the other end of the basement.
The controls do not respond very well neither. Sometimes you want to do some actions quickly and it just does something else.
I really liked the style of the cinematics. It could become a great animated series, rather than a good game.
If you liked Batman Arkham Origins, do not play this game. It is really not the same style and have a lot of issues.
