Pendulo Studios has a long and proud tradition of creating 3rd person point and click adventures, though they became better known with the Runaway series. Their production values are sky-high, the best in the genre right now, and The Next BIG Thing is no exception. The graphics are simply gorgeous, and the voice acting amazing. The story is quirky to say the least, nearly as quirky as the female lead herself, but that is far from a bad thing. Only cons are the definitely short length of the game, and the fairly easy puzzles, with a single, frustrating exception. I do not mind hard puzzles, but recreating the music from Liz's childhood was a confusing and simply no fun. Overall, an adventure all fans of the genre should try!

The Next Big Thing is the latest game from Pendulo Studios, a great developers team that brought us Runaway series. It came from nowhere and I must say - good thing that it did! Great story, characters, wacky humor that can make you laugh outloud (believe me :D), also pretty decent puzzles. All in all, it's a must-play for all the adventure games fans! I mean it!

Pendulo studios is known for their quirky point and click adventures, with there unmistakable art. Their first hit was a Runaway series, and they are going strong ever since. The Next Big Thing is just another great game from them, with clever but sometimes illogical puzzles, a good cast of characters, likeable music, great sense of humor, and a nice ending that makes the adventure worthwhile.
The only downside is really the fairly short length, which clocks 5 hours tops.

This game has all you can expect from an adventure game with the maximum quality. It's worthy of be called an old school adventure game, but with the quality of a AAA next-gen game. It has the typical humor of other Pendulo's games, like the awarded Runaway. The graphics are in HD, with an outstanding quality thanks to Pendulo's cell-shading technology for the characters and objects and the professional hand-drawn backgrounds. The sound is in very hight quality, with a sound score worthy of a Hollywood (pun intended) movie, accompanied with a music that just fits. And of course, the main thing an adventure looks for, the storyline. it's just perfect, with an ending that surely will satisfy the most exigent adventurer. Buy it if you haven't yet!

If you're after Pendulo Studios game outside the Runaway series and choosing between this and Yesterday i'd go with this one. Where Yesterday is somewhat too short The Next Big Thing provides a nice meaty adventure. There's a couple of illogical puzzles, but they aren't so often as to be a turn off - think i had to look up things maybe three times start to finish to carry on. As with all Penulo adventure games the graphics are gorgeous. They basically all feature the same kind of cartoon aesthetic so like one, like them all in that regard.
A great point and click with a style of its own.Rzepak01 | Aug. 19, 2011 | See all Rzepak01's reviews »
The Next Big Thing is the newest game from Pendulo Studios, the creators of the Runaway series and one of my favourite point and click developers. If you played their previous games you know what to expect. A point and click adventure with plenty of humor, insane characters, great cell shaded graphics and difficulty that tests your noggin without frustrating you into turning the game off. As a big fan of the creators games to me this was an amazing experiance, but I do have to say that it was a bit short. Heres hoping this is a start of another trilogy.

This is a fantastic game, with a lovely graphic style much like Team Fortress 2 and great gameplay. In The Next Big Thing, you play a journalist and a sort of spy guy and you have to solve puzzles and do various fun minigames to get from stage to stage. A brilliant game, and definitely worth getting.
