Ideal for fans of Japanese culture

The dlc for magicka is pure awesome, first it was released with the motive that, The sales would go to the charity for the great tragedy japan suffered. Secondly at 99 cents it offers a great value.

The nippon dlc for magicka contains the following addition to the base game 1 Kimono robe 1 Katana - "Yawarakai-Te" (cuts through armour) 1 Bamboo Staff - "Staff of Endurance" (resistance to all elements)

1)The kimono robe looks very cool, fans of the samurai will love to use it to customize their character.

2)Katana - one of the few weapons in the game that ingnores armor, very quick best to use in close encounters and pvp duels, The weapon becomes a bit hard to use when there is a huge mob and ranged enemies.

3)The bamboo Staff is the main strength of this dlc, it offers great resistance to all elements which means , Those nasty spell casting enemies in the game cant damage you much, works out well in pvp too.As the opponents are force to get close to hurt you, you can slice them apart with the Katana.

Hoping for more japanese themed stuff for magicka soon. probably a map and some ancient quests.

Great idea by Arrowhead and Paradox.

An one dollar donation isn't really much. So I am sure you'll be able to miss that one euro/dollar from your wallet. Not only will you donate to help our Far-East friends in a time of need, You'll also receive some DLC for it. The idea of a donation is not to really receive anything in return, you donate to help the others in need, therefor this is great DLC. Even if it's only a robe, a weapon and a staff. Very noble by both developer and publisher, good job!

Not necessary, but completes the game.

Donrenegade | Jan. 19, 2013 | See all Donrenegade's reviews »

I personally bought it to make the Magicka experience complete. But you do not really need it at all. If you want the complete game and also have all chars, get this DLC. It does not add anything significant to the game, it's just for fun. Get it when it's on sale, or if you want to help Japan, get it now.

Magicka: Nippon DLC - review

carlyle | Jan. 18, 2013 | See all carlyle's reviews »

The Nippon dlc for magicka game introduces some new features, however insignificant, in the gameplay. The good news is that it can be shared with all who play in coop without the need to own it. It is a simple and inexpensive way of further develop the base game, but which is very well possible to do without them without affecting the gameplay itself.

If you want your little mage dress in a japanese style, this DLC is for you, the Katana is powerful and fast and the bamboo staff gives to your character resistance against other elements, also the kimono adds to your character a samurai touch.

For this cheap price is worth it DLC.

Not that good a DLC, but you help Japan

jeyko | Sept. 22, 2012 | See all jeyko's reviews »

The Nippon DLC itself adds almost nothing that is particularly useful. A robe, katana and a new staff. And that's it. But it's really, really great that Paradox are donating most (if not all) of the money earned from it. And I love that. So consider buying this as a donation to Japan. You won't regret it (Well if you aren't heartless)

Only worth it for charity

This DLC does not add any significant content to justify its price, just some new items. The revenue from this was going to be donated to help japan, so there's that. Maybe if you want to help japan a little and still get some stuff back, I guess this DLC is worth it.

A very nice game, with a little bonus as this DLC shown, also a part of the money you spent will go to Japan wich is good, immagine, you buy something for yourself and give a little help to who is in need, i would say to buy it if you enjoy magicka.

A Great DLC :- contribute to japan as well as play

The nippon dlc for magicka is pure awesome and cool, first it was released with the good objective that, the sales would go to the charity for the tragedy japan suffered. Secondly at 99 cents it offers a great value.
As usual with all other dlc's of magicka, if you or any one of your friends has this dlc , then its shared between all of them.

The dlc has the following content which adds to the game, 1 Kimono robe -costume for the character 1 Katana - "Yawarakai-Te" (cuts through armour) 1 Bamboo Staff - "Staff of Endurance" (resistance to all elements)

My Detailed explanation:- 1)The kimono robe looks very cool, fans of the samurai will love to use it to customize their character, has an awesome HAT too. 2)Katana - one of the few weapons in the game that ignores armor stats on the monsters, its very quick, best to use in close encounters and pvp duels, The weapon becomes a bit hard to use when there is a huge mob and ranged enemies once you get the guns its hard to keep this weapon. 3)The bamboo Staff is the main strength of this pack, it offers great resistance to all elements which means ,Those nasty spell casting enemies in the game cant damage you much, works out well in pvp too, the other players will have tough time dealing elemental damage to you. So this dlc is highly recommended to purchase, wish it had a Japanese themed map/arena too.

Help the Japan

This add-on adds 3 new items, which are the Kimono Robe, Katana and a Bamboo staff. The items itself are very nice, but what's much nicer is that all money made from this particular DLC are donated to Japan. If you didn't already do it, go ahead, there is nothing to lose.

Feeeling Generous???

faraany3k | Aug. 16, 2011 | See all faraany3k's reviews »

Paradox and Arrowhead were generous enough to make a DLC exclusive for Japan tsunami hit victims. And all the funds generated by this DLC will be donated to japan affected areas. Its an amazing gesture by a small indie studio. DLC itself lets you play with 3 exclusive Japanese inspired items. I must say 'Kimono robe' looks really awesome. If you are planning on buying MAGICKA DLCs, please buy this one first.

Gives a Cool look for Charity!

Bertolli | Aug. 16, 2011 | See all Bertolli's reviews »

Considering that proceeds are going to Japan this is a great purchase for any Magicka fan. The robe itself is fairly cool looking and has that samurai flair to it and combine it with a uber cool Katana you are a force to be reckoned with. The staff is also very useful with its resitance buff but it just adds to the whole "Eastern" theme of your outfit.

Worth it

t20k | Aug. 10, 2011 | See all t20k's reviews »

This is so cheap, and it even goes on sales sometimes. The katana and staff are useful - not overpowered, but useful. And you even help Japan? I didn't even know that. If you have Magicka, there is no reason to not purchase this.

The most needed DLC

culefinslamort | Aug. 5, 2011 | See all culefinslamort's reviews »

After what happened in Japan, you can help them by buying this add-on for only 99 cents! It's just a old japanese coustume, yes, but you will be surprised when you see that katana do so much harm to your enemies! You will do two things by buying it: enjoy your new weapons and help Japanese people!

Why not

wengart | July 28, 2011 | See all wengart's reviews »

Although you do get some nice looking items that's not the point. For less than a dollar you get to donate to help with relief efforts in Japan, and hopefully prove that this model of charity works, because lets face it some people want a reward for helping others out, and this gets them to do it.

As a donation for japan, and as an awesome add-on to Magicka, buy this DLC that comes with an awesome kimono, a katana and a bamboo staff, all of this by donating to japan, what else can you ask for?

This DLC adds to Magicka some awesome Japanese clothing and weapons, so if you are of the kind that appreciates Japanese culture or simply wants some more Magicka items, this is your DLC. Furthermore, the cheap price is a donation to a good cause, so you shouldn't be doubting about helping them!

This DLC for Magicka, while not being very big (don't expect any huge changes here) but, this DLC does add a very good looking robe and cool weapons. It is also very cheap at £0.59/$0.99 and helps charity so pick this up right away!

Some neat new items for a good price, with a good cause.

LeafRunner | June 23, 2011 | See all LeafRunner's reviews »

The actual items aren't all that special, but it's definitely worth donating to charity for. Also came with a TF2 hat if you bought it in a certain timerange which was a nice bonus.

With this DLC, you can feel the taste to be a japanese mage. Very insteresting, and can improve the fun of the game. Try this also for the in-game item. everyone like japan will like this :)

Cheap and nice

hotmando | June 21, 2011 | See all hotmando's reviews »

Another dlc that is not needed in the base game but fuels it's fan base instead. The cheap price of 0.99 is enough to lure anyone into buying the dlc and anyone with a japanese love. However, these items may give the advantage to one player over another which brings the idea of "buy to win" in the game. Item dlcs are always risky as seen in the recent battlefield3 preorder scandal.

A samurai wizard? Yes!

DanilaMaster | June 3, 2011 | See all DanilaMaster's reviews »

Magicka: Nippon DLC adds new items to the popular action-adventure video game Magicka.

The DLC includes a Kimono robe and a straw hat, a Katana that cuts through armor and is called "Yawarakai-Te" (which means "Tender Hands" and refers to a legend of Japan's greatest swordsmith Masamune), and a Bamboo Staff called "Staff of Endurance" that increases the player's resistance to all elements.

The Staff of Endurance is a powerful asset (especially for the upcoming free PvP update) and your wizard looks cool in the new outfit, so you can brag to your friends or choose a black Kimono and pretend that you are a ninja. This DLC is worth its tiny price, although I think that a new Magick would make this DLC even better.

Wax On!

emwearz | June 2, 2011 | See all emwearz's reviews »

This is similar to the first piece of DLC for Magicka, Wizards Survival Kit, it adds some new items you can pick in a load out. While it might not be as great as the Vietnam DLC was, it is only 99c, you get some new items in game and it helps a great cause.

Donate To Charity

drakaenae | June 1, 2011 | See all drakaenae's reviews »

You should definitely buy this DLC if you own Magicka since 50% of the money will go to charity for Japan. And if you buy it before June 5th, you will also receive a Team Fortress 2 Hat (The Conjurer's Cowl ) if you own Team Fortress 2. You get 2 weapons and a new look for your mage via this DLC. Support the developers, support Japan. Buy this DLC.

This is such a great addition for Magicka , also everyone which buy this will support japan , really great choice of the developers. Also its worth giving this a try if you really like magicka and love to be a wizard all the time.

Also the new items ingame are great , since you looks more like a chinese now.

A no brainer.

GAMERamble | May 31, 2011 | See all GAMERamble's reviews »

This bit of dlc should be a no-brainer to all fans of Magica that want to do their bit for Japan. The content is pretty cool (hell I would have paid it for the Katana alone) and the money is for a very worthy cause. 99c isn't exactly going to break your wallet so I strongly urge everyone to give this a try.
