Good Idea, Average Game

With Alter Ego, the developers wasted a good opportunity. There were all the basis for a solid and pleasant adventure, but unfortunately they failed to tell a story that is slow and fragmented. Even the simple gameplay, probably by choice, and not particularly inspired, ends up affected by that. A title that might be worth only if you are in withdrawal from a certain type of atmospheres.

Merely decent

It's a decent point and click, but I've never been too keen on these kind of games. It was a massive novelty to hear actual Irish accents (and not bad Irish accent impersonations) for a change. There are some visual bugs too.

That's it?

Judging Alter Ego is difficult since its ending takes a twist that can very easily obscure the rest of the game. The environments were great, I was especially fond of the voice work, and the two main characters were interesting. The difficultly was fairly light - everything was a fairly straight forward application of the right items to the spot on the screen. Which suited me just fine. It was the dark, Victorian age atmosphere and mystery story that I was looking forward to. Which is why its failure to deliver on such a great set up is so disappointing to me. If you find it at a significant discount & are willing to forgive a disappointing wrap up to an otherwise well crafted atmosphere & intriguing story give it a go.

A good game with a disappointed ending

I've just finished playing Alter Ego and I'm a bit disappointed with its ending.

It's a nice game with a good graphic and a good story but the will ending leave you with a really bad taste!

It's a dark crime story, you play the role of a robber and of a detective, I fell in love with the robber story at first, the detective one start turn on my interest later during the game. It's a (maybe too) easy point and click adventure. I'll give it a 3 star out of 5 cause it's a good game but I really feel like the ending was put there without any sense.

Really Horrifying

Alter Ego is one of the rare point and click adventure game, that immediately grips you into its dark mood and ambiance. Whole game is horrifying experience filled with mystery and terror. Story is very well written and scenes depicted in the game immediately sucks you in. NPCs generally in these games are cliched and generic, but Alter ego boast some amazing characters whose dialogues are well written too. There are an abundant of puzzles and mysteries to solve and take about 4 to 5 hours to complete. A great point and click adventure with a horror plot and polished presentation. A must have for the fans of Point and click games.

Nice feel

The game instantly gives off a dark, moody feeling the moment you play. You should already know what your expecting though. Your average point and click game with a taste of mystery. The game is pretty large, very uncommon. A lot of things to do and see. But only two characters, they could have done with more. Alter Ego doesn't always apply just to "Two" but more. I really thought the cinematic cut scenes were done nicely but not as good as companies like Blizzard. Game tries hard to scare players at some points, but being point and click: it's very hard to actually be scared. But still a good buy for those into mystery games!

A dark an gritty point and click adventure!!!

Alter Ego is a point and click adventure game from Future Games that has (a) dark and gritty art style, storyline, characters, and gameplay elements. With 2 playable characters, 30 NPC's, a great plot and intense moments in the wonderfully fitting score, this game has an amazing atmosphere and is a must-buy for anybody who loves to be scared when they play a game.
