does not fit with the rest of the franchise

I bought this when it came out, expecting a newer, better sim city 4 and boy oh boy was I disappointed. Out the window went all the important simulation aspects. No more worrying about water, electricity usage, the amount of jobs required, the amount of pollution that you're causing... All of the complex elements were replaced by smiley faces. Money generating buildings stress your people out, entertainment buildings generate smiley faces. Pros: Good for a child's first simulation game. Easy to understand, easy to use. No more zoning, now you put down a building directly and you can even select its style! Cons: all complexity went right out the window. So if you're a serious simulation fan I can not recommend this one at all.

Not really a Sim City game

Very disappointing game. It's more similar to Cityville than to any other Sim City game. So if you like Sim City (or Cities XL for the matter) don't get this. If you just one a casual game to have some fun the this one's not bad, but don't expect anything special about it.

I always found SimCity games to be confusing and hard. And for me SimCity Societies fixed that. The graphics are crisp and the soundtrack is nice and non-repetitive. Societies has to be my favourite SimCity game. Every sim or strategy game fan should get it, but it is simple enough to appeal to casual gamers as well.
