The Saboteur is an open world action RPG, similar to Assassin's Creed with hints of GTA but set in Paris during WW2. You play an Irishman who is out for a bit of revenge and ends up working for the Resistance as their goals align with his. One of the first things you'll notice is how large sections of the game world are black and white, this is to represent the German controlled areas, and once you have completed the missions in order to give control back to the Resistance they gain colour again, it's a cute system that doesn't add anything major but gives a nice image and mood to the game.
The graphics are decent, and performance is OK. The game itself plays pretty well, with the movement and combat feeling good as you leap from rooftop to rooftop gunning down the Nazis. Driving feels a little like driving on ice at times but overall is good and the missions don't get too 'samey', with a range of locations and objectives. However it's a relatively buggy game, whilst I didn't really get any issues with missions failing etc, there's a constant bug I have with the map meaning you can't actually use the main map, you just have to use the mini map which can be a pain if you need to work out where something is when it's not on your minimap because it's too far away so you only have a rough idea.
Worth playing though even with the bugs, there's plenty of fun to be had, either working your way through the main missions or just doing some of the side quests/generally causing destruction and killing Nazi soldiers, what's not to like :)

I really loved this game a couple of years ago.It looks like Mafia 2 and Assassins creed combined and that is awesome, but the PC port was shit.Sloppy FPS and poor graphics settings but once you get over that and finish it, it's an awesome game.I really liked the stealth in this game.I founded myself playing through a portion of the game with only a pistol in order to play more stealthly and it was fun.Great game with a good story and characters.
Combining GTA and Assassin's creed into a WW2 gameAvesomeofthat13 | Aug. 7, 2013 | See all Avesomeofthat13's reviews »
This game is essentially Assassin's creed placed in World War 2, but instead of Ezio (an Italian assassin with an arsenal of renaissance weaponry), you are Sean (an Irish resistance member of WW2, carrying an arsenal of wartime weaponry). Just like GTA you can drive cars, kill pedestrians and cause havoc in the streets, and just like Assassin's Creed, you can climb buildings and leap incredible distances. It is a great combo of the two games and has a really gripping story - it's an incredible game!

This is a truly fun game. Part Assassins Creed, part Grand Theft Auto...you'll be climbing rooftops, hijacking and collecting cars, shooting and blowing Nazis, and watching burlesque dancers in this open world 3rd person action game set in WWII Paris. The graphics are pretty good, but distant textures get muddy. Still the world looks nice and Paris is pretty big. The game mechanics are very easy to control; driving, shooting, and upgrades are all done well. The game seems to favor ease though so if you want a challenge crank it over normal because I find normal too easy for my taste. Mission vary which include racing, assassinating, and bombing. Outside of the main and side missions there are plenty of things to do to earn contraband, the games currency, to buy gear and level up abilities. My favorite part of this game tho, is that it's mostly in black and white until you "free" a neighborhood which then get colorized showing it's free state. A unique and effect gimmick that adds a great look to the game. This is an excellent game all around.
Good idea, ridden with problems.jaminross | June 9, 2013 | See all jaminross's reviews »
The saboteur is awesome. It is stylized and individual and charming. As others have said it does play a bit like assassins creed set in World War 2, with much worse animation, the combat is harder though and this ads to the game. Unlike assassins creed where you can face off against ten different opponents who will politely wait for you to be done fighting with each of them before striking, The Saboteur will kill you very quickly if you don't consider your options. The game really comes in to its own in this sense during the open world parts, when you're just running around Paris killing Nazis and making dashing escapes before they can hunt you down. The biggest problem I had with this game was the numerous bugs I encountered, I lost saves and fell through the world several times and this seriously hindered my enjoyment of the game. Good idea though and there are fixes out there for most of the problems, if you don't mind a few bumps along the way you will probably have a fun time.

Pandemic was meant to deviate a bit 'from the usual prototype of the soldier that kills 50% of all the soldiers of the opposing faction, but has created a pilot of racing cars Irish, Sean Devlin, who took part in the resistance movement in occupied France by the Nazi regime. We will go here and there in the city trying to sabotage different aspects of the system, in order to make them less effective than the control. Just the way in which is depicted, to give The Saboteur its most important characteristic. The game begins almost entirely in black and white except for the red Nazi flags and yellow lights on the roads. Continuing the adventure, give back color to the world, completing missions we face. The way it works is quite intuitive: the color will be more intense at certain points, the more the local resistance will be strong against the Nazis. This games requires a mixture of caution, violent firefights and agility in climbing, in order to complete missions. Also you have the possibility 'of climbing on different buildings to get a better view of the field that will be holding our mission

Did you enjoy Mafia 2 and the Assassin's Creed series; If you did you will love the Sabateur. Firstly I should start off by saying that this is not that good a port, so it probably won't run all that well on old PCs and there aren't a whole lot of graphics settings. But when you get over that, the game is a masterpiece. Mixing the fun exploration element of AC and the awesome story of Mafia 2, it's just magnificent. The music is really fitting and the game just has a charm to it. So expect to be hooked to the game until you finish it and even after that if you are a collector type of person.

Saboteur is an action game, developed by the creators of the series Mercenaries. The action is set in the turbulent period of World War II, and the story shows us the fate of the hero named Sean - a seemingly ordinary Irishman, becoming a member of the French Resistance after the occupation of Paris by the Nazis. Good game, really worth it.

The Saboteur is a very solid free roaming game. The story is very interesting and the protagonist and many characters are very cool and have a great charisma. The main mission and secondary mission are interesting and they have a good variety. The gameplay is very good because Sean has many abilities: he can climb and reach rooftops, use different type of explosives and drive different kind of vehicles. You can decide the approach you want to complete a mission: you can usually try a stealth approach or a frontal assault. If you are in trouble the Resistance can assist you providing a vehicle to escape or a group of friends to defeat the enemies The game is very long: there are many secondary missions, some challenges that allow to improve your ability and a lot of enemy objectives to destroy your explosives

The Sabouteur is a mix of Assassins Creed and stealth only with big explosions. The beautifull graphics and locations are very well done, you will it find yourself climbing at the Eiffel Tower just to jump off it. You will it have to destroy bridges, tanks and specific buildings in order to restore freedom in the places taken by the Nazzist, areas under enemy controll when entered will it make the screen turn into black and white but after freeing the areas the natural colors will it return, but beware, they are pretty tough guys, they won't give up on killing you easily! You can wear other people's clothes to infiltrate in certain areas. Sadly the game can be quite heavy to be played at the max settings but it is pretty enjoyable. The music is extremely done but sometimes after a bit The Sabouter might get a bit repetitive and boring, there are even collectibles such as having to find every single vehicle.
