Good game, but bad DLC.

The game itself is very great and very fun to play, especially with friends. One of the best co-op experiences I've ever had. However, the Bloodbath arena DLC is one of the worst DLCs I have ever played.

As soon as it came out, a friend and myself gave it a try, since we got it for free as a bonus for pre-ordering. First thing I've noticed is that, to start the DLC "story", you have to go to one of the fast-travel stations, like the one in the Lifeguard station. I found that concept very dull. Let's leave that aside, once you fast travel there, you're greeted by, if I remember correctly, 4 different arenas, with a different setting, different waves, difficulties and enemies. We started the easiest one, for a start. We were bored in the first 5 minutes playing it. As far as Dead Island, the base game, goes, co-op is what makes is good, pretty much. That, and driving over zombies. As this DLC offers no vehicles to drive over them, and co-op certainly can't make it fun, no matter how hard it tries, I would not recommend it to any of the new players.

Interesting idea, but doesn't fit too well

This DLC is the bonus DLC included with a Dead Island preorder. For everyone else, it's a normal paid DLC. Free or not, i found it not being as fun as i expected. The major issue is that whenever you die in the arena you lose money, same as when you die in the normal game. And you're going to die a lot. I would prefer it being separate from the main game, so it won't punish you that much for going in. The sure thing is that you will die, once you pass the door of any of the four arena levels.

It supports co-op as the normal game and playing with others is the only way you have chances of surviving long enough in there to actually make it worthwhile.

Overall, it's a decent addition that could be better separated from the main game and somewhat cheaper in price.
