Interesting Game
Killerbug191 | Sept. 5, 2011 | See all Killerbug191's reviews »Trine is a fun, intriguing game. First off let's start with the general gameplay.
In Trine you can control any of three characters. A Thief, a Wizard, and a Knight. Each one has certain abilities you will need to use to help progress through the game. The Thief can shoot arrows and use a grappling hook to get up onto hard to reach spots. With the wizard, you can use your mouse to create different sized items, such as boxes, that help you get over acid pools and other deadly traps. The Knight is best used for killing the various enemies you'll run into throughout the game, as he has a shield to block arrows and other things. In addition to this, there are xp items scattered throughout the various levels. Each time you get a certain amount of xp, you level up, which gives you skill points, which you can then use to upgrade your character's abilities. Also there are chests with items in them that help you on your journey. One thing that should be mentioned are the graphics. Trine has very very nice graphics, and some of the areas are just stunning. All in all Trine is a fun game, but is a bit on the short side. Even though it's short, you can always go back and try to get all of the xp and items and find all the secrets in the levels.

Fun sidescrolling puzzle\platformer.
Xonus | Aug. 24, 2011 | See all Xonus's reviews »Trine looks great, as people have said, and the first time you get to an area with water it looks gorgeous. The gameplay itself is fun and pretty varied, consisting of using three different characters and their abilities to overcome different challenges. What was pretty disappointing to me is that the enemies remain pretty much the same skeletons for the whole game, aside from bosses, and slight variations (like shields, and fire balls instead of arrows on the ranged skeletons, and so on), and annoying bats.
There is an RPG sense of progress from the items and new abilities that you get as you collect experience (and find items), which makes it more fun as you slowly gather more abilities as you play the game. The humor in this game is amusing at times, but is nothing special, and the story isn't exactly worth mentioning.
The physics can get pretty annoying at times, and the amount of enemies in certain areas can feel excessive, but overall it's a fun game.

Great graphics, great music and engaging co-op
Johnnsen | Aug. 23, 2011 | See all Johnnsen's reviews »Another great co-op game that you shouldn't pass up for the price. The graphics and music do a great job in creating the fairy-tale like atmosphere, and the dialogue features quite some humor. If you play through this with a friend you will need to work together to solve the riddles and physics puzzles, and to defeat the enemies that in your way. Its also a great setup for some hilarious situations when you try to help out your friend and go wrong. It also lets you switch character classes on the fly which is a very welcome addition, because every character class is uniquely useful.

Wonderful
keysersoze16 | Aug. 22, 2011 | See all keysersoze16's reviews »OH MY! what to say about this game other than just pure genius! The colors in this game are so beautiful that it captures you and pulls you into this adventure game where you can be these amazing characters. The combining of characters works well in this game to help you get throug hto the end of each levels. The choice of monsters are awesome too and yet the storyline just goes well with this game, it does not dissapear from where it started. The only thing I dislike about this game is that it is too short and I want TRINE 2 NOW! this is a MUST PLAY!

Great grahpics, lackluster gameplay
Quizn0s | Aug. 14, 2011 | See all Quizn0s's reviews »Trine plays out more like a children's storybook than a game. It has great graphics and art style, with colorful flora and charming environments to set the mood. However, the gameplay, a mix of combat and platforming, is a little boring. The combat is quite repetitive, and the platforming and puzzle sections are pretty easy to figure out. Still, the presentation is phenomonal and the game just reeks of charm. Overall, worth the money.
