Amazing
vigotski | Sept. 6, 2011 | See all vigotski's reviews »Beat Hazard gives what it promises: the ability to play your music. The modes are very interesting, although there aren't many of them. They are all very challenging, you'll need practice to finish those ultra-rapid songs you want to! The graphics are good, but take care, they're also a free epilepsy test. You can set the % of effects (I usually go with 50%, I don't wanna have a fit). This is a must buy, so do it right now!

Beat Hazard is Amazing
darkxl | Sept. 4, 2011 | See all darkxl's reviews »Out of all the music game out there, Beat Hazard is my favorite music game so far! It's basically a twin stick shooter where it take place in Universe. The game is powered by your music so if your music is very active more enemies will attack you, all while you shoot and get power-ups to upgrade. At the same time the graphics changes and they look amazing! There's all kinds of perks and enemies and it's just awesome when you shoot them and see the game evolved with your music. I really love Beat Hazard so this review may be biased because I just love everything about this game and spent so many hours on it. The only thing i hate are that i have to pay extra for co-op and certain file support.

Epilepsy, the game
jojot | Sept. 2, 2011 | See all jojot's reviews »Beat Hazard is probably my favorite music game out there. At it's heart it's the Basic Asteroids like SHMUP where you fly around the space given to you and shoot everything that isn't you or a power up. The twist is the level is generated based on the musical track you play (you can even use your own mp3's) and so is the power of your weapon. The other twist is that your weapon and everything that explodes on screen is made up of bright flashing particles that change color and brightness in time with the music. This creates an unprecedented amount of visual noise and makes it almost impossible to see what is going on, not to mention giving you photosensitive seizures if you aren't careful. The game is still a tonne of fun to play (as long as you aren't epileptic) and works especially well with dance/techno music and fast metal I have found.

Do you like music? You will like this game
Min0rThreat | Sept. 1, 2011 | See all Min0rThreat's reviews »Im a big fan of music, I listen to music almost all the time. This game let me experience my music in ways I have never before. Its a simple top top asteroids-like shooter, but the levels are generated through your music. The beat and tempo will affect the speed and number of enemies and how powerful your shots are. Not to mention the flashing lights. It also scrobbles to last.fm if your into that (I know I am). From experience, I would say that most songs work very well, minus slow songs and vocal heavy songs. But, some nice DnB beats or an upbeat ska song, you'll have a great musical experiance. Did I mention its got a levelling system and perks?

Extra fun if you like top down shoot em up in the first place.
Xonus | Aug. 24, 2011 | See all Xonus's reviews »This game, like Audiosurf, can turn listening to music you enjoy to become even more funintenserelaxing depending on what you chose to listen to. Although, sometimes it can just become tedious if you simply feel like hearing the song, but hey, don't play it in that situation.
The game itself can get extremely challenging on the harder difficulty settings, although the added perks in the DLC do make it a bit easier. The added setting that alters the visual intensity is great too, allowing you to control how much you want your eyes to hurt after playing the game.
Recommended if you like the general idea of games where levels are designed according to your music.
