“Obsidian (and its Kickstarter backers) have done it: Pillars of Eternity is one of the best RPGs since Baldur's Gate.”
9/10 – [IGN]
“It's the best new, isometric RPG to come out in years”
5/5 – [The Escapist]
“This is a big, fat, deep adventure that lets you carve your own unique path through a fantasy world that’s been brilliantly brought to life with rich, evocative writing. It’s a game steeped in a bygone era of computer RPG design, but somehow it doesn’t feel archaic. Obsidian have always been bound to other peoples’ worlds—Fallout, Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars, South Park—but in creating their own from scratch, they’ve made not only their best game to date, but one of the best RPGs on PC.”
92/100 – [PC Gamer]

Wow
NerfedN7 | July 23, 2015 | See all NerfedN7's reviews »I started playing this game and about 45 minutes later I finally designed the perfect character I wanted. This game is all about depth, and being able to play how you want to. Every action you make will determine how the NPCs see you and respond to you. If you steal then they will clearly look down on you and vice versa. I highly recommend this game for players that don't want to rush through games or like to dig deep into story. Normal price for this game can be a little steep but it is a fully developed functioning game and worth the price.

Pretty unbalanced and not realistic
Armannn | July 9, 2015 | See all Armannn's reviews »When I first heard of this game, it was promising me something that I could really enjoy. Maybe that is the reason why I got disappointed when I launched it for the first time. There are pretty many problems, bugs and other things that I can't handle and if I was about to list them all here, I'd reach the character limit in the review. So, I am gonna list a few only. From the fact that the abilities/skills are not distinct enough, the game is very unbalanced, with fights that are way too difficult om normal popping up without warning. You have to sneak all the time and most spells hurt the enemy, but they hurt you as well (I mean, seriously?). Regardless how you build your character, you'll lose almost always and worse characters can beat you with ease. What I was hoping when I got it, was to at least spend 5 hours on it, but I closed the game after 1 hour.

About time Oblivion got a real chance
sycomantis1991 | June 12, 2015 | See all sycomantis1991's reviews »Oblivion have been making great games within other companies' world for a while now. Among them games like Knights of the Old Republic, and one i\of its major predecessors, Baldur's Gate. I've been waiting for so long to see what they do with their own IP. Turns out that they came up with an amazing old school D&D RPG. If you've played Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, you know what you're getting gameplay-wise. Except it looks better, runs more smoothly, and has enough to set itself apart. Well worth the purchase.

RPG from the old days
Armannn | June 8, 2015 | See all Armannn's reviews »This is what RPG looked like years and years ago. There's not much talk than I can say: This brings some old school memories (kinda) and is the only reason why I am giving this a positive rating. From the bad graphics (even though it's an RPG) and some bad ideas, this game is filled with literally nothing else. Maybe it's just me, but today is 2015 and I expect inspiration, fun and such things. What I got is a bad looking mix of the Human and Elf (and more too) races.

More, please, Obsidian!
Bhaalpatine | May 2, 2015 | See all Bhaalpatine's reviews »Having been a fan of the original Baldur's Gate Saga since its initial release in 1998, I have been waiting for an RPG to recreate the feel of rambling along the Sword Coast, hacking apart bandits, filling mines with water and thus drowning the poor, unfortunate slaves inside and generally being a bastard to everybody that you meet. Definitive proof that the Infinity Engine is the most accurately named game engine of all time, Pillars of Eternity is a masterpiece with but one flaw, the game suffered from the exact same problem that I encountered with the first Baldur's Gate; a seemingly very low level cap. (I know, it is a small, petty and silly thing, but when I hit level 12 and couldn't progress any further I felt a little sad...) The writing is superlative, the music phenomenal, the combat refreshingly tactical for a real-time-pause-able game and the world is particularly well realised, inhabited by believable characters and monsters. The party members presented in the game are interesting people, with fascinating back stories, but if you prefer you can create your own entire group or try your luck playing solo...
