Galactic Civilizations III is the largest strategy sandbox ever made. Start with a single world and expand across the galaxy through diplomacy, trade, cultural hegemony or military conquest in this single-player or multiplayer 4X strategy game. How will you rule your galaxy?
Key Features:
Never the same game twice: Play in the ultimate sandbox where each game has a unique map, unique worlds and new challenges to face.
Multiple paths to victory: Win through military conquest, cultural domination, technological ascension or political alliance.
Story-based campaign: Galactic Civilizations III includes a campaign that brings players up to date on the 20-year story arc behind the rise of humanity in the 23rd century.
Massive technology tree: Research a technology tree with immense breadth and depth. Player choices determine the capabilities of their civilization.
Custom ship design: Players have total control over how their starships function as well as how they look. Any ship you’ve ever imagined can be created or downloaded.
NEW TO GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS III:
Massive scale: The new, 64-bit, multi-core engine increases the number of possible opponents from 16 to 128 with a similar explosion in maximum map sizes.
Ideology: Player actions advance their empires down the path of various ideologies, which unlock unique abilities, planetary improvements, and other bonuses.
Multiplayer: For the first time, Galactic Civilizations is a multiplayer game with full support for custom civilizations, saved multiplayer games and much more.
Unique technology trees: Players can play as any of the eight major galactic powers (or design their own), each with their own unique technology tree, ships, colony improvements and abilities.
Faction Creator: To encourage massive gameplay, the game includes a faction creator that allows players to create a civilization with its own look, ships, technologies and even options for how the AI will use them.
New Battle System: Players assign their ships specific roles to play in combat. You can now view fleet battles in a cinematic style to see your designs in action.
New Colony Manager: The location of a planetary improvement now matters. Adjacency bonuses and planetary resources make a major impact on what a planet is strong (or weak) at accomplishing.

A mix of missing features and nice ideas
Armannn | July 9, 2015 | See all Armannn's reviews »To me, this seems to a simple weird mix of nice and some missing features. Sounds pretty funny, but it's reality. There have been announced (and released) some promising patches which I hope will make this a good game. Sadly, at the moment of talk, this is not a fun game nor would I spend any more time on playing this. I've seen somewhere a guy described this as a "sell now, fix later" mindset and I have to fully agree with him. This is just (for now) a fun idea which is not realized the way it shall have been.

Did you Enjoy I or II
Kane987245 | July 2, 2015 | See all Kane987245's reviews »You WILL love this game. It's upgraded, better engine, and the new strategies in the game is a game changer. Keep in mind that this game is currently being updated so it is not in it's final form. Look past the kinks in the game because it is mostly due to it not being 100% finished or updated. It's a great game with more promise on the way. Pick it up for those who want to jump right in and dont want to wait for a sale.

Really good, kinda disappointing
sycomantis1991 | May 28, 2015 | See all sycomantis1991's reviews »This game looks absolutely astounding and plays really well. It's basically what Civilization: Beyond Earth should have been. That begins aid, it still feels a lot like Galactic Civilizations II. I know it's still eing updated and I hope it ends up being a lot deeper. That being said, it's still an awesome game.

This game will IMPROVE :))
sai007niko | May 20, 2015 | See all sai007niko's reviews »Considering the time ive invested on this game, I would give this game a 100/100 but there is some minor polishing that need to be addressed. Amazing game though, and it WILL be a 10/10 when it is patched. Will be playing this game easily for over 1,000+ hours just like I did for Gal Civ 2. On the large maps games can easily last you over 24 hours an then some to beat. Finally ,this game could be a real gem, but it's not there yet. I can see it in the future getting a 99/100 rating from me, but it just doesn't quite cut it yet. If you don't have anyone else to play the multiplayer with, I would have to recommend Galactic Civilizations 2 for the time being, it's just a more polished, fleshed out game, even if it doesn't look as flashy.

Better than Gal Civ II and a superb 4X strategy game
Takwin | May 17, 2015 | See all Takwin's reviews »One of the giants of the genre returns to suck away many hours of your life. It takes everything great about Gal Civ II, iterates it and adds better graphics and a few new wrinkles. I was pleased and Gal Civ games enjoy long runs and many updates, so it will be supported well and played often just like Civilization V.
