Serious Sam 3: BFE is a first-person action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.
Serving as a prequel to the original indie and Game of the Year sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.
Key Features:
Frantic Arcade-Style Action – Hold down the trigger and lay waste to a never-ending onslaught of attackers or face being overrun by Mental’s savage beasts. No cover systems, no camping – it’s just you against them. All of them!
Fearsome Enemy Creatures – A new battalion of unforgettable minions including the rumbling Scrapjack and towering Khnum join the legendary Headless Kamikaze, Gnaar and Sirian Werebull to create the fiercest opposition you’ve ever had the pleasure of mowing down!
Spectacular Environments – Battle across the expansive battlefields of near-future Egypt bursting at the seams with total chaos. The shattered cities of tomorrow lined with the crumbling temples of an ancient world become your destructible playground!
Destructive Arsenal – Unleash Serious Sam’s arsenal of weapons including a scoped assault rifle, the double-barreled shotgun, the explosive automatic shotgun, the punishing minigun, and the almighty barrage of flaming cannonballs! Carry all of Sam’s weapons at once and switch between each gun on the fly for maximum firepower!
Brutal Melee Attacks – When the going get’s tough, the tough take matters into their own hands! Rip out the eye of a closing Gnaar, twist off the face of the hideous Scrapjack or snap the neck of an Arachnoid Hatchling for an instant kill!
Co-Op Multiplayer – Go to war against Mental’s horde with up to 16 players online and annihilate everything that moves across 12 single-player levels of mayhem in Standard Co-Op, Classic Co-Op, Coin-Op Co-Op, Beast Hunt and Team Beast Hunt mode.

Better with a friend
nightassassin1 | Nov. 20, 2015 | See all nightassassin1's reviews »I have never played the previous games and never will. I managed to get this in a really good humble bundle with a friend and we eventually got around to playing it when we got bored with all the other games. This might have been our last choice, but was definitely one of the best games in the bunch. If you run on a hard setting it is very challenging and fast paced. This is basically a run and gun comedy game though, so it takes a specific mood to play. I liked playing it alone too, but no where near as enjoyable as with a friend. Alone on a hard setting can make the game take forever so a friend helps move things along. If you have to play alone, it is more fun on an easier setting. Going slow in this type of game just ruins everything. There are some very hard to find secrets in this game, which makes it even more interesting. Recently a secret area was found (four years after the game release) which can show you just how hard some of the secrets are to find. Some are very easy as well, so don't worry about never finding them or anything. I have two favorite moments in this game: One was when I whacked my friend with a sledge hammer and got a steam achievement for it. The other is when I killed a screaming monster and Sam mimics the monster "AAAAAAAAAAAAAH shut up" because what happened next was pretty entertaining. You will know what I mean when it happens. I recommend this game, but again, try to get it with a friend because it is much more entertaining. Especially when you whack them in the face and get an achievement for it!

Explosions and Gore Galore
TheForgery | Oct. 9, 2015 | See all TheForgery's reviews »Serious Sam 3 is a game meant for hardcore gamers of the past but has been "modernized" to a certain extent. Basically, it retains the same formula the series is known for. Advancing through several waves of enemies, each one harder than the last, with nothing but weapons ranging from a simple Desert Eagle or a rocket launcher. All the action takes place in a derelict Egypt with the deserts filled with hostile aliens, mutants, whatsoever meant to be killed in a gory mess. You play as Sam prior to the first game in an attempt to save mankind. As he is slaying his enemies, the adrenaline-fueled music will keep one entertained. Unfortunately, the game has flaws, such as facing waves of enemies become repetitive and some players may feel like it has been copied and pasted too many times. Also, SS3:BFE is an under-appreciated game as the community is sparse and there is not much custom content floating around as I hoped for (in comparison to L4D2 for instance). As such, it can be hard to find players online. I give this game a B- for being very fun at the first playthrough but after that, it requires custom content, multiplayer experience, or co-op for additional tries.

Seriously mediocre
Aghass | Sept. 30, 2015 | See all Aghass's reviews »This game is certainly fun with a somewhat new type of gameplay (given you have never played the originals). The game gets boring near the end and is nowhere near worthy its price range.

Serious Sam Super Star
glitter34 | Aug. 17, 2015 | See all glitter34's reviews »OK yes, I loved all the Serious Sam games! The humor is entertaining the monsters are fun and irritating, and the blood is fantastic. I played through each one co-op first and as with any game playing with a friend is so much more fun. However this game is great as a single player as well and you don't just play it once and put it away. You can play it again and again and not get bored. The weapon variety is good and ammo, armor and health are all around. The most irritating monster the Kleer and those who have played know just who I mean, so watch out for him, and he is there a lot in abundance! Money spent on this game is money well spent as you will enjoy it!

Fun game if you just want to shoot stuff
Murderbot735 | July 26, 2015 | See all Murderbot735's reviews »Note: I have only played this alone, and haven't tested the co op. This game is really fun if I just feel like blowing up aliens without thinking. The guns feels nice, and the level design is okay. The aliens does for the most part look pretty generic, but are nice cannon fodder. Considering how heavy the discounts can be on this title I think you should give it a chance if you think that shooting stuff is fun.
