A mediocre game made even worse due to poor controls

Star Raiders is a new version of a classic 70s game of the same name. You will pilot a ship that is capable of changing into different combat modes while destroying your enemies in a third person view. You are able to find salvage during missions, or collect it from destroyed enemies, that you can then use to upgrade your ship. Somewhat similar to Robotech or some Gundam series your ship is able to transform into different modes, by default you have a faster moving attack mode that has a weak gun and missiles, a slower moving assault mode with a stronger gun and faster turning speed but no missiles, and a turret mode that barely moves but has a fast shooting main gun and powerful secondary weapons. When you upgrade the ship you can choose which modes to upgrade, you can also get an AI co-pilot that adds stat bonuses. The game says that it supports controllers but I could not get it to work, the PC controls are terrible and pretty much make the game unplayable, if you can get a controller to work I've heard bad things about that too. Each of the ship modes has a different control scheme, which is strange since all of them are in flight modes. The opening of the game has decent voice acting. The enemy AI is poor, the controls are poor, and the graphics are poor this is a game to avoid.
