A Yars Revenge game that has nothing to do with original
Legolas_Katarn | Dec. 28, 2015 | See all Legolas_Katarn's reviews »Yars' Revenge (remake) has nothing to do with the original game, either in terms of gameplay or character design and instead is more like a Space Harrier game. The game is a rail shooter where you move yourself around with the W,A,S,D keys while aiming a targeting reticle with the mouse. Chaining kills quickly allows you to continue to increase your score modifier. You can do regular fast but weak laser shots, more powerful railgun attacks, or you can lock onto up to eight enemies by holding ctrl and fire missiles at them. You can use a shield to protect yourself and recharge some of your health but it is limited, you are also able to pickup other powerups that can be activated for more damage or to destroy enemies. The six levels are short, and unless you want to try to get high scores the game doesn't have much replay value. The game isn't terrible, just mediocre in every way.
