Albert & Otto is a game where a boy and his abducted sister's magical bunny embark on a journey to find Anna. They must work together to overcome the murderous beasts and lethal puzzles blocking their way. Although Albert & Otto at first seems like a journey to save the damsel in distress, it is anything but. We soon learn that our hero might be hiding something from us, or rather, himself.
The player must use both Albert and Otto in creative ways to traverse a haunting world. At the beginning of the story, Albert can shoot and jump, while Otto can fit through tight gaps and hold down power switches. But together, they unlock new skills such as a double jump, which is only available when Otto is in Albert’s bag, levitation, control of electrical currents, and more as the story unfolds.

Check out my Quick Review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mQb1cmRB2Y You play as Albert. You are armed with a gun, and a stuffed rabbit, named Otto. While Otto is on you, you have special abilities like levitate, double jump, and a shock. You can also place Otto down, and use the abilities remotely to help solve your way through the levels. Both Albert and Otto must survive and stay together to progress. Pros: -good puzzle aspects with having to place and use Otto's abilities -the background music and sound effects were enjoyable and fit well with the atmosphere of the game -keybindings and resolution options are available in pre-launch menu, as well as controller support -the colour style with black and white, with the red splashes works really well, both simple and elegant -monsters and boss fights bring extra excitement and challenges to the game Cons: -the story was told through child's drawings, and it wasn't as clear as it could have been (some animation would have been more effective) -physics sometimes makes objects you're levitating bounce around too much, and then go flying -lots of deaths if you aren't good at timing your moves (especially on boss fights) I prefer the puzzle aspects over the timing platformer type of gameplay, but it was still an enjoyable game, and a great start to the series. I died quite a bit on a few levels, so the game took me about 3 hours to complete, but I can't see replaying it unless you want achievements. I will definitely pick up, and play the next game in the series when it becomes available.

A beautiful Platformer that reminds me so much of Limbo
akassassinn1 | Dec. 8, 2015 | See all akassassinn1's reviews »Albert and Otto is a puzzle platformer with a unique art style and an intriguing story , Albert's sister is kidnapped by mysterious shadows and she leaves her toy bunny Otto behind , for some reason Otto has magical powers and he aids you against the dark creatures on your way to rescue your sister. game controls are a bit floaty and sometimes unresponsive with a keyboard , but they feel fine with a controller , what you do is collect shiny orbs, shoot crows and solve puzzles, you do this with the aid of Otto the Bunny , weighing down pressure plates and double jump , the art style reminds me so much of Limbo , although this one seems a bit more sparkly and has more action in it which is quite charming, black and white back grounds and soothing soundtrack which often gets creepy with gear sounds grinding in the background, this a must play platformer and if you like Limbo or Braid, you'll definitely love Albert and Otto.
