Fun game to buy during a sale.

As a Elder Scrolls fan, I found this game to be quite enjoyable while playing it, especially since I bought it on sale for $12 during the summer. I only spent about a month casually playing as I am a college student and don't really have time for it now. That being said it is a reasonably fun game, and completely feasible to play completely solo (what I did most of the time). If you can pick it up for a low price then I would definitely say to do it. No required monthly subscription is also nice if you are busy and only have time to play every once in a while.

MMO's, how they change the things we love.

Ironbrigade | Nov. 27, 2015 | See all Ironbrigade's reviews »

Not the greatest but not the worst, picking this game up is a great way to see what happens when fan base cry out for multiplayer in Elder Scrolls and having the game get reduced down to a MMO format. At first the game came out in rough shape but over time the jagged MMO edges of transformations have been smoothed to present a player with a decent experience. The game can either be played to max level via PvP, PvE or both. in PvP you will head to Tamriel to lay siege to castles and attempt to capture The Elder Scrolls that the opposing factions have for bonuses. The PvE portion will have you follow a main story to which each NPC has a narrated dialogue like in the Star Wars MMO with a ton of side quests to lead you a stray. The game play handles kind of like Guild Wars 2 or Wild Star with your abilities being telegraphed, you wont be able to pull off crazy Hawk Eye level sniper shots sadly like in the previous Elder Scrolls games. All in all the game isn't bad but dont go into this game thinking it is a MMO version of Skyrim. They have a in game store that gives you the option of doing a monthly subscription, giving you a 10% boost to character progression and 1500 game currency per month as well as access to all DLC content, as well upgrading to the imperial edition of the game and letting you purchase various other in game items. 7/10 Would steal everything from the NPCs again.

Your mileage may vary... Not worth full price, ever.

I have been playing this game since beta. That's not to say it's a good game, it just happens to be the only game that offers me pvp the way I like it. ESO has some of the same bugs it had during the alpha. This says a lot about their developers. The game is a buggy unstable mess, has always been and nothing seems to change. Each major update introduces tons of new bugs and they always announce a release (dlc/launch) date (set in stone) before they actually test it. This is backwards and why the game has so many problems and poor coding. I have a beast of a computer and even I am subject to random crashes and horrible fps loss. You should know, this game has gone free to play. However they charge you for the DLC unless you are subbed in which case you have access only until your subscription runs out. Lately their business model is to release new items that are a real grind to get while then waiting 2-3 weeks and offering the same thing on their cash store. The goal is to frustrate people into thinking these things are unattainable and then offering them ease through real money purchase. Something you should know about the cash shop. If you get a bug, and you will, it's ESO, buggy as hell, you will not be compensated. I recently lost almost 3k crowns (2 months worth subscription) to a bug and they told me they cannot help me because my account will not work properly if they reverse it. What kind of ridiculous nonsense is this? Why put in something that takes a persons money if there is no way to compensate loss or faulty transactions? This is terrible and very dishonest. I am not saying don't play this game, some people enjoy it, but most of the major developers have already left Zenimax and half the things we were promised a year ago have been ignored and forgotten (due to devs leaving, Nick Konkle, Paul Sage, etc). Listen folks, the game had one of the worst launches in mmo history. So many people quit after their free month was up it blew my mind. This wasn't because the game wasn't fun but because it was unplayable for a lot of people with no transparency from Zenimax. In fact they planned on going free to play after the 4th month from launch. If that doesn't sound alarms I don't know what to tell you. Anyhow, the game can be enjoyable, but it can also be a complete nightmare. I personally can't see myself sticking with it much longer. Everything now is designed around the "free to play" myth. I say myth because not only do you need to buy the game, you have to constantly buy from the cash shop anytime you want to access the new content. Otherwise you have to sub. I don't mind paying a subscription, but don't pretend your game is free to play when it really isn't. Also the "play your way" is a pile. There are extreme limitations and a class system to boot. This is not Skyrim online. It's a 4 class system that has limitations only a class based game will have. I can keep going but I think I have typed enough. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask. One last thing, Imperial edition gives you the Imperial race you will otherwise have to buy from the cash shop. If you don't get Imperial you will be limited to choosing 3 races per faction. In other words you can't pick a Dark Elf and play whatever faction you want. You will be stuck on EP faction unless you go into the cash shop and buy something that allows any race any faction. I got this feature for free because I pre ordered the game during beta.

Horse is great but not worth price

Jay_Walnut | Aug. 14, 2015 | See all Jay_Walnut's reviews »

This is a great and fun game. The horse given with this edition really helps in the early levels and the imperial race adds more variety to the character creation. However, it really is not worth the extra cost, and I am glad I got this when it was on sale.

Really good game if it's on sale it's a definite buy!

Thereek | July 29, 2015 | See all Thereek's reviews »

Bought this game while it was on sale. Really enjoyed it so far, the only things that do annoy me are : no real group finder, in dungeons it can get confusing as you don't know who is actually in your group and who's the mob - hard to keep track with that - with that battle system. Otherwise the community is far more friendly than the one was in Archeage (my prior MMO) and helpful. The graphics are a bit outdated but the amount of quests and fun make up for that. If you enjoyed Skyrim, Morrowind you will love this game.
