Top 50 Title:

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns. You'll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you'll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.

You'll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You'll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

Helping to take L4D's frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you'll fight through and the pathways you'll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

Key Features:

  • Next generation co-op action gaming from the makers of Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.

  • Over 20 new weapons & items headlined by over 10 melee weapons – axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat – allow you to get up close with the zombies

  • New survivors. New Story. New dialogue.

  • Five expansive campaigns for co-operative, Versus and Survival game modes.

  • An all new multiplayer mode.

  • Uncommon common infected. Each of the five new campaigns contains at least one new “uncommon common” zombies which are exclusive to that campaign.

  • AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed “The AI Director” drove L4D's unique gameplay – customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players’ performance. L4D 2 features “The AI Director 2.0” which expands the Director’s ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.

  • Stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play

Still A Very Fun Game, Especially With Friends!

GeoffAussieSpy | Jan. 18, 2016 | See all GeoffAussieSpy's reviews »

Sure, there is not much improvement from the first, but man is it a lot of fun! Playing solo or with some friends is always fun, with all of the extra weapons and zombie types in this to add more for you. The gameplay is seriously, very very smooth and controls are extremely responsive. Graphics are still great and the sound design in this is very much well done. There is a campaign mode which is amazing and has good replay value, a quickplay mode for just jumping in for fun really quick. If you're just wanting to jump in and shoot or shop some zombies, this is great for the price! Sadly, there isn't any split-screen on PC, but there might be some mod to allow that to happen. I definitely recommend purchasing this, especially on a good sale. It is great fun!

First of all, while this game do have Single-player this is a primarily a Multiplayer focused so I will review it based only on that. Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the greatest Co-op shooter games out there. set in a post zombie-apocalypse world Where you and your friends play a group of 4 survivors who must fight together against the Zombie horde in order to reach the extraction site and be rescued. L4D2 features better graphics, better AI and a better behind the scenes AI "Director" which will change the gameplay according to your choices, making each playthrough slightly different. It also added features such as Workshop support for new mods and maps making it the clear superior of the two. A must have party-game

Nice gameplay, nice weapons, nice everything

This is a fun game. But this doesn't describe the game properly, not even a little bit. It's a great game, which has managed to pack Shooting, Zombies, Silliness, Fun, Horror, Creepyness and Moderate-paced action together, making it a lovely combination that can give you hours of adrenaline or nights of nightmares. Or both. With it's common and uncommon infected, it works wonders on creeping you more than you'd wish, especially the witch. The gameplay is fluid, the maps are above average in terms of variation, and the number of guns and weapons is not at all a small one. Actually, the variety of weapons is pretty big. You can choose to play accompanied by bots or real players, shooting wave after wave of zombies. Overall, it's worth playing, even if you can't get a HeadShot from 12 meters.

Not a huge improvement on the first but still a lot of fun

The main additions Left 4 Dead 2 makes is adding a variety of melee weapons, a few new guns, mutations that can be turned on to change up some of he gameplay elements, and a greater variety of special infected. The new melee weapons include swords, axes, chainsaws, frying pans, guitars, bats, and more. The melee weapons will take up the place of a heavy weapon and are a good choice against some of the special infected and a way of keeping the regular enemies at bay but you will want a good pistol to fight off the ranged characters or Boomers. The way the levels play out, gunplay, and zombie AI remain the same as the last game. The way that the game spawns enemies can be abused in some of the levels, you can just run through some of the stages if you want to no matter the difficulty. One of the best selling points of this game now is that they made all of the maps free, including versions of the original games stages.
