Bugs, ugly clay like portraits, and content removal

Legolas_Katarn | Oct. 10, 2015 | See all Legolas_Katarn's reviews »

This pack includes some very ugly looking, clay like, portraits. Older male characters can end up looking like zombies. Some portraits seem to have problems with the eyes. The Iberian Portrait pack had some of the face from this removed to be replaced with new ones from that pack. This add nothing to the gameplay and is just for the visuals and your immersion. It is somewhat pricey at $2, it is better to buy them when they are on sale. A pack containing all of the portraits and unit packs would be nice for those interested. If you are only interested in content adding more gameplay elements, or your games don't often take you to the parts of the world that a portrait pack focuses on then you will want to save your money for something else.

Surely CK2 portraitures could use a bit more variety, but the Mediterranean Portrait DLC leaves something to be desired. The portraits look like they were molded from clay and, at least in my experience, way too many characters are unnaturally orange.

Good cosmetic expansion

Adding more cosmetic variety to the portraits of the world, this DLC is also especially useful when it comes to mods.

More Variety - Good or Bad Depending on your Tastes

cybrxkhan | May 3, 2013 | See all cybrxkhan's reviews »

The Mediterranean Portraits DLC adds in new portrait sets for many of the Mediterranean cultures, including the Iberians, Italians, and Greeks. It adds in some sorely needed variety to Europe in particular. However, whether it is good or not depends on your personal taste. Some have found the Mediterranean Portraits DLC to be inaccurate in its portrayal of Southern Europeans, for instance. I think the portraits look fine, though they are rough in some aspects - females look block at times, and old males look somewhat zombie-like. Still, like all cosmetic DLC for CKII, this one isn't absolutely required - just make sure you look at screenshots from elsewhere before deciding whether you want to buy this or not as some players regretted buying this as it did not match their exceptions (though I am perfectly content with this).

Adds new faces (literally) to the game

Coolicy | Jan. 15, 2013 | See all Coolicy's reviews »

If one of your criticism of the game is the lack of customization of faces and clothing, this is for you. $2 isn't too expensive for the amount of options added. It adds quite a bit of freshness to the game. This was actually a reason for me to return to a game I've put down for a while.
