This is a good Civ game which improves on most of the aspects of the previous game. There are more diplomatic options and more ways to play - who doesn't like more ways to play? There is a lot of depth and replayability for this game. Not to mention the achievements! Those are real challenges unlike in many other games. Also, the DLCs are actually worth the money since they offer even more ways to play, and it really shows how much the devs poured into them. They do not feel like they were stripped from the original game just to be sold as DLCs at all. They added countless hours to my playthrough, and will surely provide you a ton of engaging entertainment.

Warning: this game is addicting; I have hundreds of hours of gameplay logged on it. Civilization V is a fantastic addition to a great series. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is intuitive and fun, and the music is amazing. All in all, this game is very good and I highly recommend it.

One thing I could never understand was how people could have 1,000's of hours of playing games like this up until the time I played it. In no sense would I say this is a quick pick up game, as a game on the quickest difficulty playing solo can last around 10hours. If you're with friends, you better clear out the weekend, and the next just in case. The graphics are colorful and vibrant. The game play is very entertaining and pulls you in for the "one more turn" style of game play. Where the real fun comes is when you play with a group of friends. There is no other game that can tear friendships apart as easy as this one. Just hope you're the one with the nukes.

Civ V is an excellent strategy game that is only strengthened by it's DLC, unlike many other games today. It is fairly easy to get into, has a ton of variety, and even has multiplayer. If you're a fan of any strategy games, you should definitely give this game a try.
Same old Civ in a new packagebossmarvinc | Sept. 4, 2015 | See all bossmarvinc's reviews »
When I say the same old Civ I mean that this is a good game. If you like the civilization games of the past you will enjoy this one. The updated and cut down mechanics smooth out the game and nothing that was cut is truly missed. The game plays faster better and just more fun than than the older ones because everything that is there is useful and necessary instead of in the older ones where some mechanics were dead weight. One note is that you need both of the dlc packs (buy the game of the year edition) for it to be this great as without them the game does feel lacking. If you have not played one of the old one Civ games if you think or know that you would like a strategy game this one is for those who want to build a country, if you want to focus on military go to the total war series as it does have better military combat.
