One of the Most Addicting Games of All Time

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | See all thegaminglyfe's reviews »

Crazy Taxi is one of the most addicting and challenging games of all time. The concept is simple, pick up customers and drive around the city to get them to their destination while fulfilling their wishes. If they want you to swerve around cars while going at high speeds, then you do that for more cash. If someone asks you to go slow, you can do what they say and have fun or drive fast and listen to them complain but lose some cash. There are lots of challenges and mini games that are so much fun to do. You will spend hours doing the challenges, not even the crazy taxi part. The graphics are nice, especially for the age of the game, the sound works perfectly with the style of the game and the controls are easy to get used to. Crazy Taxi is one of the most affordable games out there considering the hours you will put in. Highly recommended to any gamer if you can stand racer games.

Very fun, but the soundtrack will be missed.

Crazy Taxi is one of those games which seems simple on paper, yet can provide endless fun if in the right mood. You take the role of a taxi driver, pick up random and sometimes weird passengers, and then deliver them around the city with crazy car physics helping you get there in hilarious style. All that remains here from the original, and even today it can still provide a lot of fun, which shows how well it has stood the test of time; even without The Offspring in the background.

The lack of the original soundtrack is something that will be missed, but it is still a great game. Recommended.

Thanks god I am not a taxi driver in IRL

The crazier the drive, the bigger is the tip. It never gets old.It never gets boring. You just start and play it till you find out that it's time to eat or even worse...to sleep . Every minute in the game is an hour IRL and thats is enough to see how good is the game.

Just crazy enough to work

If you've played the original Crazy Taxi for the Dreamcast, you'll know what to expect here. Though you should be aware the soundtrack has been changed and the product placement has been removed. While neither may sound like an intrinsically game-changing issue, they really do make the game feel wrong, somehow. Regardless, the gameplay is just as solid as you remember it, so if you can survive without the offspring playing while you drive from building to building, it's still a great experience.

Arcade Classic on Steam

I'd definitely say it's better with a controller, but if you enjoyed it on the Dreamcast or in the arcade, then this faithful port will appeal to you.

For the few who haven't heard of this game, Crazy Taxi has you pick a driver, and blast through the streets of San Francisco listening to Offspring trying to get passengers to their destination in as timely a fashion as possible, traffic, roads and pedestrians be damned.

There's not much in the way of a story or progression here, though there is a challenge mode to give you something more to play with, but it was originally an arcade game. For what it offers, it's fantastic. Gameplay is fast, frantic and fun, and your taxi controls well. If you're not a fan of Offspring the soundtrack may irritate you, but being a big fan that was part of what made me enjoy this game so much.
