I think beating Croixleur Sigma for the first time is like ending a tutorial - it teaches you about game, mechanics, enemies, your character. So it's not a game where a story, even if it's not much a story or not something complex, is important thing. It's all about making a huge combos, beating scores, unlocking new things. I think achievements also takes a huge spot in this game - I mean, there are achievements for clearing challenges, defeating XXXX monsters or beating the game without using continues and reaching the boss in less than 10 minutes. It motivates player to just... play the game, I guess. Well, some don't need a motivation, but for those that don't find a beating worldwide or own scores, it's a great prize, of course if you are into getting achievements. Graphics are cute, music is decent, the cool thing is that the voice of characters is japanese. If you are looking for a game to play in short sittings, and you enjoy doing combos, beating scores, killing tons of monsters - get it.
A Fun But Short Hack and Slashminoru09 | May 20, 2014 | See all minoru09's reviews »
Croixleur Sigma is a hack and slash with cute anime-style graphics which offers a simple but solid gameplay mechanics. The combat is fluent and satisfying to do with different weapons to execute combo. The story mode is unfortunately so short you can finish it in one sitting. Luckily there are enough extra contents in it to give you another one or two hours of gameplay. You can also try to be the best among your friend in online leaderboards. Given a nature of it as a doujin game, it does look pretty nice. The soundtrack is nothing to write home about but it does its job fairly well to accompany you through the hacking and slashing. Also worth noting that the game has full Japanese voice-over. If you expect story avoid this game at all cost but if you're looking for a cheap fun killing hordes of enemies as a cute anime girl, you're in the right place.
