Description

"There is a huge world to explore, thousands of zombies to kill, and tons of side quests to take. Here on the other side of a 25-hour playthrough -- where I skipped a lot of side quests after Act 1 -- I'm anxious to get back into Dead Island, and despite the game's flaws, that's not something I say often." - IGN.com

" Ultimately, this isn't just a great zombie game. It's a great open-world game, a great action game, a great RPG, and a great co-operative multiplayer game. Being a masterpiece with a unique appreciation for zombies is just gravy. " - Gamespy.com

IT’S TIME TO RETURN TO PARADISE

Dead Island was released in 2011 to huge critical praise and quickly grew to become a fan favorite and million seller. With it’s unique setting and addictive multiplayer mode, it is today still actively played by a vivid fanbase.

The Dead Island Game of the year edition will now attract even more players to the game, offering not only the maingame "Dead Island", but also the DLCs

to gamers worldwide. Whoever hasn’t been infected yet by Dead Island’s tropical paradise setting and it’s gripping Zombie apocalypse terror, will surely come on board with this action packed Game of the Year Edition.

Bloodbath Arena DLC

This action driven DLC offers four different arenas and new challenges that can be played alone or in coop mode. It’s a desperate fight for survival where waves after waves of unrelenting zombies attack, one more gruesome than the next. Characters can loot experience points and items and bring them over to the campaign mode. Players can also show off their skills in zombie fighting with the newly implemented leaderboards.

Ryder White DLC

Players have survived the terrors that took place on Banoi, but did they really get all the pieces of the puzzle? Dead Island´s Ryder White DLC lets you re-experience the Zombie outbreak, but this time through the eyes of the villain. Play through Ryder White’s story and understand the motivation behind the acts of this military man.

Weapon Blueprint "The Ripper"

A deadly combination of Baseball Bat and buzz saw that leaves attacking Zombies battered and bleeding to death.

WHAT IS DEAD ISLAND?:

Unique Setting

The tropical island of Banoi serves as the perfect backdrop for a one of a kind zombie story. White beaches, inviting pool areas and a five star luxury resort surrounded by palm trees make for a unique experience that combine the terror of a zombie outbreak with the beauty of a former paradise.

Melee Combat

It’s survival of the fittest and when the only thing you have left is your life, you take whatever you can find to defend yourself. Paddles, iron pipes or wrenches are your weapons of choice and only occasionally will you be lucky enough to actually find deadlier weapons like handguns. Even then, ammunition is limited; this is why melee combat is the focus when fighting for your life on Dead Island.

Collecting & Customizing

Banoi Island is a huge place, from lush beaches and beautiful pool areas to jungles and cities, there is a lot to explore. On your quest for survival you will find items and weapons along the way. They are key to your survival, so make good use of them. Repairing and upgrading are just two of the mechanics when it comes to maintaining your inventory; with blueprints you will also be able to build new weapons that will help you make it another day through the zombie attacks on Banoi.

Co-op Multiplayer

Experience the horrors of a tropical island gone mad with friends. Up to 4 players can experience the story of Dead Island together in Co-op Online-Multiplayer. The seamless drop in, drop out mechanics allow you to swap instantly from single to multiplayer and back.

Good Co-op open world zombie game

Solidice | June 11, 2013 | See all Solidice's reviews »

If your looking for an open world zombie killing RPG-like co-op action game, then this is game for you. The actual story is lacking a bit, but the co-op experience with a good group of player can provide plenty of entertainment. The co-op setup is not difficult at all either, people can drop in or out of your game at anytime, or you could join/leave someone else's game at any time.

Of course if you would rather play alone, you can change the setting to not allow anyone to join your game, but this game is definitely more fun in a group.

Zombies Stories

Dead Island is a game that combines first-person action with special attention to combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. The game features a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a compelling campaign where they can play up to 4 players in co-op. A tropical island to explore, a luxury resort, weapons galore and a legion of hungry zombies ready to get you out the bowels. What more could you want?

What is good: - The first zombie game that brings three types of styles in one: action, sandbox and a touch of RPG. - Excellent atmosphere and recreation of a tropical island, with lots of quests and things to do and zombies to eliminate. - Creation, modification and repair of arms. - Experience intense, immersive and addictive. -The AI of the zombies is very successful, and there are different types and ways to address them. Power-play with 3 friends cooperatively. -Long Campaign: about 25 hours. -Trailer of the game, one of the best views to the time.

What is not well: - Repetition of such missions. - An occasional bug, but nothing too serious.

Meh...

Stebsis | June 5, 2013 | See all Stebsis's reviews »

Dead Island has some interesting things to it and is really fun to play... about 10 or so hours if even that. You get to choose between 4 characters each with their own special skills, but if you're looking for character driven and involving survival story in post apocalyptic open world... get Fallout 3 and New Vegas instead, they have sort of zombies too with ghouls.

You get a variety of weapons to use, and melee is definitely the thing they've focused here. Combat at times can get intense as you very rarely have any guns or bullets for them. It still gets really repetitive and monotonous, and you start to ask yourself is this all there is? Yeah, basically that's it.

The island itself is gorgeous to look at, but the setting doesn't make this zombie experience even remotely scary. Characters you meet are as deep as a puddle and main characters too are just awful.

Dead Island is best played in coop, alone it gets boring and fast, but this still is repetitive and near the end just a boring game.
