This game requires a free Steam account to play.Description
"There is a huge world to explore, thousands of zombies to kill, and tons of side quests to take. Here on the other side of a 25-hour playthrough -- where I skipped a lot of side quests after Act 1 -- I'm anxious to get back into Dead Island, and despite the game's flaws, that's not something I say often." - IGN.com
" Ultimately, this isn't just a great zombie game. It's a great open-world game, a great action game, a great RPG, and a great co-operative multiplayer game. Being a masterpiece with a unique appreciation for zombies is just gravy. " - Gamespy.com

WHAT IS DEAD ISLAND?:
Unique Setting
The tropical island of Banoi serves as the perfect backdrop for a one of a kind zombie story. White beaches, inviting pool areas and a five star luxury resort surrounded by palm trees make for a unique experience that combine the terror of a zombie outbreak with the beauty of a former paradise.
Melee Combat
It’s survival of the fittest and when the only thing you have left is your life, you take whatever you can find to defend yourself. Paddles, iron pipes or wrenches are your weapons of choice and only occasionally will you be lucky enough to actually find deadlier weapons like handguns. Even then, ammunition is limited; this is why melee combat is the focus when fighting for your life on Dead Island.
Collecting & Customizing
Banoi Island is a huge place, from lush beaches and beautiful pool areas to jungles and cities, there is a lot to explore. On your quest for survival you will find items and weapons along the way. They are key to your survival, so make good use of them. Repairing and upgrading are just two of the mechanics when it comes to maintaining your inventory; with blueprints you will also be able to build new weapons that will help you make it another day through the zombie attacks on Banoi.
Co-op Multiplayer
Experience the horrors of a tropical island gone mad with friends. Up to 4 players can experience the story of Dead Island together in Co-op Online-Multiplayer. The seamless drop in, drop out mechanics allow you to swap instantly from single to multiplayer and back.

Very good
Eanan | May 14, 2013 | See all Eanan's reviews »Craving a realistic survival horror game in the wake of the Walking Dead game, I hit the reviews and found others championing Dead Island. I was not disappointed.
Things I liked:
- The open world setting
- Zombie dismemberment is truly satisfying
- Joining up for quests wth strangers and rampaging through the resort is oddly satisfying
Things I didn't like:
- The weapons degrade ridiculously fast
- The game can be buggy at times.
If you value polish and smoothness in your games above all else, you'd be best advised to steer clear of Dead Island. But if you crave wickedly satisfying zombie-dismemberment, a full, deliciously time-wasting RPG experience and a depiction of a zombie infestation which rings surprisingly true, Dead Island should float your boat.
