Left for dead on the devastated planet of Tau Volantis, Isaac Clarke and John Carver face a daunting journey. As madness takes hold, they realize they can no longer trust their eyes or each other. Their trek leads them back to the derelict ship Terra Nova, now home to twisted Unitologists intent on transforming it into a temple of flesh and blood. The horror continues as the Dead Space saga enters its darkest chapter.

This DLC continues story from the ending of Dead Space 3. If you feel lost or wanted to find out what happened after the cliff hanger then this DLC will do the trick to tell you what happened and what will happen in Dead Space 4. This DLC is a little bit more interested and focuses more on co-op separation path meaning Issac and Carver will split up most of the time to complete an objective which makes it fun in co-op as you will no longer have a partner to back you up. This content DLC last less than 2 hours and it is mainly about the storyline while every mechanic remains the same.

Now this is how a DLC must look like. It's scary, it has a great story, continues right where DS3 has ended, it has few weapon mods, and it's scary... hmmm, did I mention, that it's scary? The only negative thing what I can tell about it that it's short, about two hours on hard difficulty (Yes, I'm that masochist. But I played System Shock 2 on impossible after all, so playing these games on hard difficulty is a tradition. It's good for my heart. :) ). Unlike the Mass Effect series, Dead Space is true to it's voice since the very first episode and the whole story is consistent since the story has started onboard the U.S.G. Ishimura, continued on the Sprawl and then ended on Tau Volantis and now, onboard the C.M.S. Terra Nova. This DLC is a great conclusion, the real and perfect ending for DS3. Dead Space 3 is one of the most underrated games of 2013 and after DS3: Awakened's ending I'm looking forward to Dead Space 4.

Sadly, the DLC does not justify it's high price point for only 2 hours worth of gameplay length. This is what Dead Space 3 should have been in the first place, and it should be in the base game not DLC. The base game ended with a cliffhanger and this DLC adds more cliffhanger to the game, which reminds us on how game publishers cut off parts of the game and sell it in DLC form. If you love Dead Space like I do, get the DLC but $10 is very expensive for only 2-hour campaign, get it on sale instead.

Dead Space 3: Awakened doesn't really add as much as I hoped it would. The new enemies and story are cool, but the game misses its purpose. Dead Space 3 ended with a major cliffhanger. This DLC was supposed to answer that, and while the game does answer that it adds a completely larger one at the end with no real closure (even more than the main game). So for $10, this short add-on is a bit too much for too little and doesn't add much to the Dead Space series other than set up the stage for a new entry.
