First time playing this game I tried it solo and it wasent a great experience. Second time around I played it with some friends. Then it clicked. I really feel like this game gain a lot from being four players. At that point its a really fun co-op romp. Sure, its not as loot focused as a Diablo or Torchlight. But its fun to play non the less. Just make sure to bring some some fellow adventurers with you on the ride!

Gauntlet is a classic envision of the dungeon crawler game from the atari/nes classic. Introducing a unique take for the classes with the controls, a more modern look and a multiplayer mode which is ridiculously chaotic while keeping true to the original concept of the game. Fans of the original will pick this up and immediately be immersed into a good time with their friends or random individuals online.

Gauntlet is a simple dungeon crawler with 4 playable characters with different skills and talents. The object of the game is to kill the enemies, loot and eat. The game isn't really long, but offers a lot of replayability with the harder difficulties.
All in all, simple concept and great execution, add friends in CO-OP for maximum fun.

It is fun, with the right group of friends. First realize this remake is supposed to be like the original gauntlet games, not gauntlet legends. If that's okay with you, you may enjoy this title. Hack and slash goodness. Plenty of time spent outnumbered by hoards of enemies. Satisfying abilities depending on who you select to play.
But you will only enjoy it for so long. It's now known to be pretty short, pretty repetitive. This game has no built in chat what-so-ever (not even text). It does have character expressions you can activate with the d-pad if you are using a controller or with keyboard hotkeys. Those could be helpful I suppose. I was sad that the potions are only for trinkets. The trinkets are cool but I miss the potion "novas" we enjoyed as kids. It particularly sucks through the first stage when you have no trinket so you just collect worthless potions that disappear at the end of every level.
Only one person can play each character, leading to some unhappiness. The worrier, in our opinions, is the weakest link. Kind of basic fighting style, no block ability, charge ability is really slow to perform. The valkerie is awesome. Shield is a little too power at blocking / reflecting, and throwing it is pretty sweet for a nice chain kill, other than it sometimes chains too far and hits food. Her spear charge is also awesome, going through enemies. The archer seems weak at first, but he's actually my favorite. His ability to roll past everything is nice, and dropping bombs along the way can clear large areas. Soon with some experience you'll gain the ability to shoot the bombs attached to a skill shot, which can also help (though smaller explosion). His auto-attack doesn't hurt generators, but his bomb and skill-shot can do decent damage to them. The wizard is just totally different. He is basically plucked from Magicka and dropped into the game. His spells are made from short elemental combinations (just... like... magicka...). But he is pretty cool, and very useful for the party. The lack of character customization sucks the life out of the game in my opinion. I really wish this would have been more like Gauntlet Legends was on nintendo 64, however, I knew it wasn't. For what it is, its a decent game. But it has plenty of room for improvement. With the overall lack of content, it feels like a third of a game, so it is appropriate that it costs about the third of a regular title. If you are a fan of old gauntlet, you'll enjoy it.

This isn't an exact remake of the Gauntlet games I grew up with (Legends and Dark Legacy), but it is still fun as hell. It is very simple: Kill every enemy and collect the loot and food. Even on normal I have died because I was being careless.
