Top of it's game

A collection of an entire companies excellent contribution to the video game industry, Half Life Complete gives you everything you need to tell the story of Gordon Freeman. Everything here is a top candidate in it's genre and must play for virtually everyone.

Half Life 1, while dated now, still plays very well and is more than useable to start you off. The Source engine remaster of the game is more easy to digest today from a visual standpoint though. The offshoots of HL1, Opposing Force and Blue Shift are not as essential, but also worth the time.

After that, Half Life 2 is a now 12 year old game that looks great, plays great, and is just as fun as ever. To finish the series off as of today, the Episode 1 & 2 expansions are shorter but very well paced pieces of storytelling that will put you on the HL3 bandwagon like the rest of us.

Half Life Complete is essential to any video game fan.

The Half Life series in a box!

Having given a rather lengthy review on Half Life 2 - I'll keep this one simpler and shorter.

I can only say this pack is absolutely worth it - the Half Life experience is truly like no other. Whatever type of gamer you are, Half Life will show you a different universe, a different concept of a game, and of course revolutionising content that has indubitably inspired countless games that came after it. It is a second-to-none, unique, curiously convoluted story that will create an insatiable hole in your being, that can only be partially quenched by Half Life -flippin'- 3, 4, 5 and all the consecutive numbers to the right of the x-coordinate until the universe implodes. Yes, I'm a fan of the series, but also a recogniser of pure ingenuity and this series is sunk deep in it. Especially if you wait for a sale (which are very common and are now a standard of 75%), you are getting a deal of a lifetime.

With Half-Life complete you are most likely getting more than you will ever need to keep you busy. It has the whole Half-Life series, with all the games, spin-offs and episodes, so you can follow the whole story and enjoy the excellent games, which became one of the most recognised franchises ever released. So what you are getting is Half-Life (with its re-edition - Half-Life: Source) and its add-ons; Half-Life: Opposing Force, and Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life 2 with its additional titles: Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two. There's also Half-Life 2: Deathmatch - latest incarnation of the Deathmatch game, always accompanying the Half-Life games in their various editions. And finally - Team Fortress Classic - a spin-off, which eventually led to creation of Team Fortress 2, that so many people are now playing. The whole set offers hundreds (if not thousands) hours of excellent fun, which could easily cost much more than the current price suggests.

To not play the Half Life series is a shame that you don't want to put yourself through. It has it all: strategy, adventure, gun action, puzzles, and an unforgettable story that made GabeN a god. With this pack, you get to have the full experience, from the original Half Life all the way to the Second Episode, and everything in between. Be prepared to never look at City 17 the same again.
