In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat.
Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. But what if the real threat comes from within?

Ok let me start with this. Some people may don't like the new 2033 because it's kinda easier (depends on difficulty level), and less scarier, but anything else is really better than original one. Graphic, gameplay, really the engine from LL does his job very good. Also those games feel great when playing with Russian dubbing, for me it fits the game really well. The fps are stable (on my pc 40-60 on high), the game looks great and again it is worth buying.
The same game with better graphics.daconster | Aug. 30, 2014 | See all daconster's reviews »
Metro 2033 is a fantastic game. I have only ever played ranger hardcore and find that the constant fear of someone around the corner that will kill you in a second gives you a a layer of immersion that is not normally found in a game. The graphics are mesmerising and that goes double for redux. Redux is largely the same game but adds a more linear progression in spartan and survival modes. They are interesting concepts but fail to deliver on what they could have been. The landscape and the post apocalypse that you find yourself in is horribly beautiful and you will find yourself entranced with every sky scraper you pass. With a great story and fun characters this game will leave you deeply involved until the end. The game also sees some balance patches to some of the more frustrating parts. I'm sure this is a fantastic game that, unless you are a graphics stickler or a die hard fan of the original, wait on this and pick up the original if you haven't already.

Metro 2033 receives a facelift after going through 4A's Next Gen Engine. The game itself creates such a breath-taking environment. The vastly updated graphics sell the atmosphere even more. The gameplay is quite good. The guns feel great to use. Several different mechanics adds a unique twist to the game. The stealth has been improved thanks to the engine. Overall this is recommended. A great post-apocalyptic shooter that only gets better with the engine upgrade.
